Arrested Development Season 4: The Bluths are making new mistakes!

One of the reasons that I don't like season 3 as much as the others is the fact that they made him too obvious he was gay, so I really hope he won't come out :/

just because he had a date with girl Michael?

Everything else in season 3 was about Mrs. Featherbottom, his audition for the CAA, and GVH.

The muscle mags were the part where it went from "blissfully oblivious" to "oh, this is kind of sad."
From the pilot:

Tobias: I've been waiting for the universe to provide a path for me ... And I think it has ...
Lindsay: You're gay?
Tobias: No. No ... Ha, I'm not gay. How many times must we have this conversation?

We knew pretty much immediately. They were never subtle.

I submit as evidence the season 1 quote where Tobias responds to Michael while watching Girls with Low Self Esteem, as teen/college girls are taking their tops off.

"Oh no, I don't want that."

I think he toed and crossed that line plenty from the very beginning of the series.

What about basically being in love with that FBI agent?

I think it's easy to read that into the story, but it was never explicitly revealed that Tobias was in love with him. If anything it was Frank (the FBI agent) who fell for Tobias. Tobias seemed to quickly recover from that in any case, using the super well-built priest to try to get Lindsay jealous, the date with girl Michael. Plus, he actually had a fling with Kitty at the end of Season 2 (a legit female).

No, I mean, it's funny as long as Tobias is oblivious. If Tobias becomes self-aware, it becomes something else.

I was just saying the height disparity seems exaggerated in that picture. Could be due to Shawkat having higher heels. But she looks super tall there and from what I can tell she's not very tall.
Both look pretty hot too, (which was what I originally thought the pic was about).

You can find moments of him being self-aware in Season 1 as well:

Tobias: When a man needs to prove to a woman that he's actually ... When a man loves a woman, and he actually wants to make love to her, something very, very special happens. And with deep, deep concentration and great focus he is often able to achieve an erec --

Is there a timeskip?

You know what, ignore me, I just need to finish S2 and 3 before asking questions.

7 years

The 4th season is a catch up on what the family has been doing in those 7 years, lots of jumping around and old/new guest starts will be present in every episode

Hope not, It's funnier that hes so oblivious to his mannerisms.

Seriously, it's like asking Michael Scott to finally become self-aware, you'd ruin the whole character.

I just hope this show maintains it's wonderful idiosyncratic nature and unique identity. No other show makes jokes about cornballers or stair cars or banana stands or chicken dances. This show thrived on the new, the weird, and the off the wall.

I can't believe I'm asking this question since I feel like I should know, but is the new season going to have bleeps for the cursing? Or will they just swear and not censor?

Some of my favorite gags are the ways they obscured people's mouths when they swore. My favorite is probably after Stan Sitwell offers Gob a position. Gob raises his hand to point at Stan's face and says, "Fuck you." That might be my single favorite moment in the show period.

They're keeping the bleeps.

We're gonna have some ground rules first, ok? No (bleep bleep bleep) or (bleep). And no (bleep) unless you're wearing a (bleep) or you (bleep bleep). If this winds up on the Web, I will (bleep) you in the (bleep).

I was just thinking today that I really, really hope they slip some clever joke in there about Netflix picking the show up, like they did with HBO and Showtime in Season 3.

Apparantly the title of the first episode is
Flight of the Phoenix

(My speculation on that spoiler)
and wow....i just realized its possibly a double meaning connection of Michael always hinting of going to Phoenix, AZ. I wonder if this is related to that very first airport pic that was leaked as well.

Glad to see David Cross looking well. He put on alot of weight in the past few years but that seems to be gone. The beard suits him also.

Bateman was seen wearing a University of Phoenix shirt at one point, could be where George Michael is going

I think Tobias's character is much funnier if you take him as straight. It's the fact he's completely oblivious to the way he acts and how everybody perceives him that makes it so funny.

"Oh Tobias, you blow-hard"

7 years of lies. Yes, i've grown up. I've moved on to imperfect sitcoms. How I Met Your Mother. Two and a Half Men. At least I can talk to any idiot on the street about what that wise cracking Charlie said the night before. Do you know the last time that I genuinely laughed at a sitcom??

See, nothing has ever been easy for me since the end of season 3. I mean, the only reason FOX put it on the air was to piss off NBC. The only reason it went to season 3 was to woo HBO and Showtime offers. And, then, of course, it was cancelled, so there was that famous ordeal.

Awwww why isn't Tobais' chicken making his funky "ku-fwaaa" sound he does in the magic cage?

Performance anxiety? Or maybe he's just so oblivious to what's going on around him. Wasn't it like, "Fu-Quaa"?

^^^I genuinely hope this is a massive hit for Netflix. The commercial failure of the original series and the success of shows like How I Met Your Mother and Two and a Half Man implied that

1. Thoughtful, intelligent sitcoms hold no value in the market
2. Sitcoms that pander to the lowest common denominator will be runaway hits

Check out the AD page on Netflix now...

There are no new videos or trailers or whatever, but still. Just go see.

So I watched this show for the first time from start to finish in the last month.... Wow.... Amazing doesn't describe half the show. No stupid humor at all, and it made me laugh a ton. I guess I have the luxury of only waiting a month for season 4.

This is definitely a show I will re watch hogh/drunk and crack up at all the jokes again. GOB is one funny mofo.

Glad you enjoyed it but I'm going to disagree with one thing and suggest another:
1) I wouldn't say the show has no stupid humor, only because I'm not sure what that term means for sure (though I do see it around plenty). AD is definitely a smart show, but not because of its subject matter or joke material. It's still a show full of jokes about brothers and sisters calling each other dumb and people in romantic catastrophes and pure physical comedy. People often characterize physical comedy or sex jokes as stupid humor. Their wrong. A good TV show usually has those elements and uses them smartly. Like AD.
2) You won't just crack up at the jokes again. You'll get other jokes that you didn't get the first time. AD has so many hidden references and sly foreshadowings and moves so quickly that it is 100% impossible to catch every joke on the first viewing.

Hahaha YES. My roommates and i imitate this on occasion and it never fails to crack us up. It's such a terrific moment. Thank goodness they're keeping the bleep!

About this, spoiler time!
George Sr. foreshadows Buster getting his hand bitten off before it happens!
I couldn't believe it, totally awesome.

There's also tons of other stuff like that! It gets better with each re-watch.
