Battlefield 2 Thread(360)

Its odd, i loved what i played of the xbox single player, just never got to far, since i was gonna wait for the 360 one, then i played the 360 demo, and didnt enjoy it to much, so i didnt play it agian...

...untill recently, i saw Denog playing, wondered WHY he was playing all the time, instead of playing PDZ (wtf ! play PDZ !), booted up the demo, and had a LOT more fun with it...i used to HATE the controlls, but the more i played it, the better they felt, and ive ended up having quite a bit of fun, might even buy it now.

some questions though, Why isnt there a Medic class? :( ...ok thats not really a question you guys can answer, but WTF i loved my medic in BF2 :(. Is there other guns you earn like BF2 ? are the other maps better than the demo one? the demo one isnt bad, i just dont like the layout so much ...i guess thats more opinion stuff than anything though. is there any special or cool things in the MP? modes, crazy map design ...just stuff you would tell people to try to get them to play it :p

There is a medic class it is called "support", it doesn't have the defib paddles from PC BF2 though.

The Support's UP weapon is a health injector.
The Engineer's Radio is a mortar strike, you aim where you want it to land.
The Sniper's Laser Target, is just that, lock it on to any vehicle and it'll get a missile on it a few seconds later.

:)

Stupid question maybe, but do you know what the sniper's little handheld does? We used to think it was used in tandem with the laser target: you know, get the cursor red, then type it in, but we found out about the missile. So what does that little keypad do?

My friend and I have a bet on this, actually. I'm guessing you use it at the artillery strike to make the countdown go faster.

It's been only a rental for me, due to the fact that it was watered-down from it's PC brethen. NeoGAF, let me know when this game is available for $34.99 or when DICE releases a proper port of the widely-popular BF2 w/ all expansions & booster packs.

It shows the enemy on the map If you play a sniper use it as often as you possibly can, it is a huge help to your team.

awesome, game is even better now that i know wtf everything does :p ....the med thing isnt anywhere near as good as the BF2 one though...rather have my SA80 than a machine gun too....and no defibs make me cry .....but oh well :p. it seems to me like all the classes are pretty balanced out in awesomeness.

still need to rent it though i guess (ugh ! i dont like renting stuff anymore :( ), i need to check out some of the levels.

Thats the only thing stopping me from getting this game. NOBODY IS RENTING 360 GAMES IN BALTIMORE. It makes me want to slap somebody. $60 is too much to risk on a game whose demo I hate. I downloaded the demo again and was again dissapointed...I want to love this game soo bad.

I just can't get over that "floaty" feel. The guns feel like the plastic things from Kmart with the orange cap over the barrell end.

Don't rent. But it!! ;)

In all seriousness, this game just keeps getting better for me. I downloaded the 1.3 patch for my PC version this past weekend and now I am getting all kinds of server crashes!!!! Went back and played the X360 version and had a blast.

Hey!! when are you guys going to add me to your "Friend's List"?! I've been dying to play with a good team of guys in my off time. :)

Yeah, I'm currently on a Gamefly rent with this game and deciding if I should keep or not. The voice comm problems are very annoying. How are you going to have a team-based game work without it? Anyway, I've been getting used to the Sniper and Engineer classes. They work a little better for my style of play. Tonight should be fun though! Makings of a GAF clan perhaps?

I have already started a clan. We have yet to do anything, but it is a start. Are you hitting X when you are talking. Plus, I think the chat is proximity based. If I am standing next to a teammate, it works every time. If I am not, it is hit or miss. Hitting X solves this almost all of the time. The problem is finding people who actually work as a team and not as a bunch of individual stat whores. Having a consistent group of people to play with would definitely help.

Hitting X = Team speak only, not prox. based.

Talking without hitting anything = everyone within ears range can hear you, and I've sent invites to ianswoody, battler, mcwild and beamber.

In a convoluted and confusing way, I guess I was trying to say the same thing. :lol

i might have too, since spending i think its about 8 bucks to rent it, could be spent twards buying it...... when i do, i shall be the Squads Medic woo !

Tell me about some of the maps, explain some of the cooler ones. im sold on the singleplayer, sold on how the game plays, just not sold on the maps, and in this type of game the maps mean a LOT to me.

Yes, which is excellent when you're playing against mic-breathers camping flags.

I've found the alternate helicopter controls works better than the default ones, but they're still on a steep learning curve, hard to master.

Sorry about missing last night. I got caught up at the casino playing craps. Don't worry, it was worth it. :D But I'll be around again tonight if anyone's interested.

I got yours and otherinvites last night. I was in some clan matches and coudln't hook up with you guys. I'll try to get on tonight after I get home from the gym and get settled. I'm reallyl looking forward to hooking up with you guys. I am hook to this and CoD2 at the moment. I love it when a good Conquest match takes like 40 minutes and no quarter is asked and none is given. WAR IS HELL!! :lol

DAMMIT EA, fix the friggin' clan servers!! This was the third Wednesday in a row where your **** wasn't together. C'mon for Pete's sake!! [/rant]

Her's what I do and it's been working pretty well since the patch was released. Go into your game settings and disable "open mic". That way you have to press the X Button to talk. This seems to work for me, because I've noticed that open mic causes a lot of problems. This also eliminates proximity chat, so when you press X and speak EVERYONE on your team can hear you. I know it may seem annying, but some of us original Ghsot Recon players on XBox were used to this and it's not that big of a deal. Last night I was in a 24 player game and my teammates and I could speak and hear clearly. See if that work for ya.

NOTE: single player and online game settings are individual and you have to set each independantly. Someone earlier in this thread discussed how they adjusted down the annoying voice over volume (We've Taken Flag 3!) and yet they still heard the annoucer screaming. You have to do this your your single player campaign profile AND your online multiplayer profile.

I'm also surprised that people in this thread were asking basic questins about the class lay out (i.e. GPS, laser targeting, mortar strike, Y for parachute etc.), but then I looked at my game manual and EA did a piss poor job with the XBox360 manual. I traded my XBox version so I can't remember if all this was explained, but I know I've seen the info around. This is basic stuff you need to know to play the game effectively.

It's more like a Quickstart guide about the dangers of epileptic seizures than a BF2 game manual.:lol

From what I've played it seems the various aspects of the game is explained in the single player campaign, as far as equipment goes that is.

Alright Battlefield folks, I could use some advice here..

I hate the helicopters. So many servers I get on it seems like wherever I go there's a chopper flying above overhead laying rockets down all over me. Seems like they have far too much ammo. I personally don't like the idea of going and getting my own helicopter and blasting the poor opposing infantrymen into oblivion. It seems hard as hell to shoot them down with RPGs most of the time too. Is there any good strategy against these things? What do you guys do? Is it just "if you can't beat em, join em" ?

The sniper laser target? Usually you dont even need to fire, just lock on halfway so the pilot hears the lock-on beep warning and most will eject out of fear (snipe!). Or find one of the anti-air rocket launch pads, a couple on each map.

just throwin in some battlefield love. i've never played any of these games before the demo.

im thinking about buying this one, how many online maps are there? did they fix that mic problem (or has that problem been exagerated)? there are still people playing this right??

Tunesmith

Concerning the mic problem, I personally haven't experienced many issues on the recieveing end, I've almost always heard the ones that acually speak and not eat their mics very nicely.

I'm not sure of the map count, I haven't played on all yet, but I haven't discovered any bad ones yet. The overall most popular ones in the community is Backstab, BridgeTooFar and DeadlyPass though, of which BTF is in the demo.

The problem is those are the only three maps anyone wants to play, it gets absolutely retarded sometimes. Let's play Bridge Too Far. We just played it assholes.

I usually play on servers, or host one, that cycles instead of by vote.

I had an overly frustrating session on Saturday.

Not only were they picking Backstab EVERY ****ING TIME, but the opposing side was playing cheap by parking the helicopter right over the spawn point to rack up kills.

I HATE cheap bastards like that. Also toss in incompetant team mates who refuse to work together to capture a point.

Next time they park the heli over a site, switch to sniper and laser target them. Do it near an ammo refill in case you miss. Works every time for me. I took out 3 on the ground and 1 in the heli once with a single laser targeted missle.

I've finally come across an annoying map, really dislike FullFrontal and it's semi-sunrise/night setting. It's either blinding or too dark to really see properly. :lol

"Only" medals stop me from advancing 3 ranks:lol , but I can't for the life of me find a match that suits itself to aquiring any, apart from the one I already have, the Marksman. Seems I'm forever to be stuck at Master Sergeant.:lol :(
