Battlefield Bad Company beta coming (360)

Agreed on the weapons being too weak. Except for the shotty though, that seems about right. I wish they would release an updated version of the beta or a patch with the fixes in it. It would make the stress testing much more enjoyable.
The shotty is boss in this game. If they fix the sprint and get rid of the everyone shows up on the radar bs the shotty will be even better. They should make the radar like COD4's radar.

They also need to fix the ironsights. Controls also need serious fixing. The movement and aime speed feels slow yet ducking on the right stick is very touchy. I have died a few times because I would duck while tracking someone.

My Revised Method of getting keys for the Beta:

**REQUIREMENTS:

- Access to your main Comcast Account

1. Login to your main Comcast Account here -> https://login.comcast.net/login?r=c...continue=/Comcast/AcctMgt/createsecondary.cmd
2. Create a User (Or multiple users - Repeat step 1 until all 6 accounts are used)
3. Clear your cookies (In Firefox, Tools >> Clear Private Data).
4. Log in the newly created user here: https://sso.comcast.net/Comcast/IdP/sso?target=http://founders.gamespy.com/gameinvasion
5. Click on this link https://sso.comcast.net/Comcast/IdP/sso?target=http://founders.gamespy.com/gameinvasion and Sign up to Founder Club for free
6. Use the newly created founders account and login here: https://login.fileplanet.com/aggrpa...planet.com/promotions/bfbc/na/signup_sub.aspx
7. Complete the form and Get your beta key, and clear your cookies (In Firefox, Tools >> Clear Private Data) and repeat all over again.
8. (Optional - But Usually Needed) If you run out of secondary accounts, delete some of the useless accounts by visiting this link: https://acctmgt.comcast.net/Comcast/AcctMgt/changestatus.cmd

===================================================================

Tips:

- Use the Autofill Forms addon in Firefox - to do alot of the dirty work for me and cut down the time it took to make the keys/accounts
- When deleting accounts if you open up 6 different tabs and start deleting you can cut down the time it takes to delete the accounts
- I'd start with typing up email address Ideas (for making accounts on Comcast.net) before hand and copying and pasting when getting the beta key.
- I installed the Web Developer Toolbar since you can just go to Cookies -> Clear Session Cookies, which is a little bit faster than the Tools -> Clear Private Data method.

**EDIT**

I made around 120 keys, so that means I also now have 120 Founder Accounts. If anybody wants an Account, PM me and I'll toss one your way. (Keys are gone but if you -really- need one....)

think some of you are really underestimating this game, once you really get into it - reminds me of the original BF1942 beta/demo. Having a blast with it, looks and sound great - plus the squad spawning works good to keep you in the fight. Love the street fighting in oasis, and the balancing of the different classes.

Played for 4 hours straight last night.

Kinda loving it now, despite how shitty it feels next to COD4.

Had some epic helicopter battles yesterday.

Unlocked a ton of weapons, and had a blast calling in laser bomb strikes against armor when I was a sniper hiding in the hills.

Not totally feeling the Ascension map but I had fun sniping.

Speaking of which, sniping moving targets from long range (on Oasis for example) is nearly impossible since the ballistics model really forces you to lead your targets. Since sniper rifles have such long "bolt action" times inbetween shots, it's hard to hit anyone unless they're standing still. Realistic? Maybe. But why make this aspect of the game realistic when it takes half of a 50 round assault rilfle clip (or more) to kill someone with full health?

Anyway, day 1 for me now.

Some of the fixes are good but basic. The fall damage wasnt the issue, the lack of a parachute and health bays was why it was even brought up. Fall damage in BC is right around what it was in BF2.

There needs to some fundamental changes to the game for it to make a turn around. The game is almost broken in some areas and its nothing that can't be fixed, hell, a lot of things they already had in BF2.

What worries me is that they referred players annoyed with some of the controls to the option menu instead of tweaking the controls themselves.

I just wish I could hop into an empty server to practice with the chopper. I'm kinda confused, isn't having ascend AND throttle strange? I would think those would do the same thing more or less. Not that I'm a helicopter pilot or anything.

For the love of god, please have conquest.

I may have to re-install BF2 and download FH2 if not.

No Conquest mode confirmed so better start downloading.

I really didn't get a feel for the game until today, and now I'm really loving it. Gold Rush took a few hours to grow on me, but now I think its brilliant. I like the idea of falling back to a new base when the crates are breached, it seems to keep the enviornments fresh. The controls are sufficient, though I found that I needed to bump up the stick sensitivity a few notches. Also, some of the best sound design in any game, ever.

Throttle controls your altitude. Tilting the helicopter (and the rotor) changes the direction of the force the Helo is exerting and thus propels you forward or back.

If anyone has a spare key still going, please let me know :) My Bro is a big Battlefield freak and he wants to play the Beta.

I am loving it to bits so far! Need to see the map from the Intro Video :D

Exactly! So since the throttle controls your altitude, the two controls are redundant. I wonder why the game have separate controls for both.

Because that's how helicopters are flow in real life.

You control lift and tilt. When you tilt the helicopter nose downwards, the helicopter will move forward, but also lose altitude, which means you'll need to compensate for that by applying more lift, etc.

Wow, I got a public code via fileplanet, but on behalf of all those who didn't, thanks! 120 codes is a shit load of form filling :lol

You have no idea how glad I was when I said I would call it 'quits' :lol . But it was well worth seeing all the happy people who got codes.

Why is it that the game starts and the base still has all of its tanks untaken? Are people that dumb? Quite the phenomenon! Running away from medic kits while at 5% health? Phenomenon!

COD4 to the brain.

I thought I was the only one.

Killcam is the invention of the gods..... more games need it.

I think a lot of people playing don't get it. The other night I took a tank right up to the gold storage and just sat there shooting the boxes. Destroyed one before anyone blew my tank up. It was odd.

What really pisses me off is it was in the last game. I complained about its removal earlier in the thread. Part of Dices campaign to drive off their fanbase. This whole thing reminds me of the 2k betrayal with Allpro 2k8. Take everything your fans love about the franchise and flush it down the toilet.

just switch the controls to style 2 for both and invert the flying axis - makes it much easier for me

also, can some explain the damage model for tanks?

And yes i have no idea why people don't take tanks/vehicles, its like an armor suit - also the "support" class is fantastic, the gun is great with a laser sight, its like a mini-sniper rifle

I love this game more and more every hour I put into it.

Again, I can't stress this enough:

EA: Fix the sprint! My hand is dying here!

--- Push in once on the stick while moving forward, and you will sprint until you release forward on the stick---

I have to admit, I am in the same boat as people who said this game is growing on them. I found myself getting used to the flow of the game last night, and I had a great time. There was a hint of teamwork in one game that I played, and it made the world of difference. If it is only going to get better from here, than I am in on day 1 as well!

since real life does, and its not hard to be a good sniper i have 32 kills in a game this morning

game if awesome, for me is miles better than the simplicity of cod4 the new "counterstrike" and kill cam is lame, very lame and unrealistic

Give me better controls and more fun over "realism" any day.

The point I was trying to make was asking why make sniping more realistic when it already takes a full clip just to kill someone instead of just a short burst to a vital area?

Well, there's a semi-automatic sniper with, I think, a five round clip.

You could try that and see if you like it any better. Of course the damage per round is lower for balancing etc. So you may have to hit people twice to kill them.

I'm just happy there's bullet delay so Sniper's aren't unstoppable. Now, if they just added a breathing rhythm and prone sniping would be perfect.

With the Sniper Rifles, you do have to take your time to get the right shot. Head shot is one bullet but you may need another if you miss. One of the biggest issues with the Sniper Rifle is that the further you are away the longer it takes to hit. This means you do have to compensate if targets are moving, a good few feet in front of them if they are running. Keep it to stationary targets and they won't know what hit them. Just be patient!

Try not to be too obvious where you hide. The long grass and tree's dotted around is very handy for staying hidden but higher up is better. Try not to move around too much unless you really need to. Don't forget you can pick up enemy back-packs that refill your ammo (Just look for the cross-hair over the pack when you press B) Just don't get spotted and if you miss someone it would be a good idea to either kill the target quickly of move to a safer spot!

The whole game needs PRONE badly.

Since cover can be destroyed and there just isn't as much foliage as COD4 to hide with your ghilley suit, snipers are sometimes just sitting ducks.

I love painting a laser designator and bombing the shit out of armor though.

Pure joy.

I love Artillery :)

Scanning the battlefield and seeing who is moving and then unleashing fiery death upon them. :lol It is a fine art and it most enjoyable when you nail moving vehicles.

I have not managed to get the Laser designator thing working correctly. How do I fly the missile correctly once it is in the air?

Yeah, I'm used to playing BF2 and other pc battlefield games as well and not having prone feels..foreign to me. Also, is it just me or is this game REALLY dark? I've never had this problem before with 360 games. I feel like I need to crank gamma and brightness way up.

What the fuck? Is this game composed of a bunch of mutes? This is the most irritating shit ever.

Oh, I think you're misunderstanding me. I agree with you, I'm just questioning why the game doesn't seem to understand this. They have controls for lift, tilt, spin
?
and throttle.

As a deaf gamer it's really insensitive for people to say things like this. Some people are unable to know what volume their voice even is when it's coming out of their mouth, not to mention they can't hear you to respond to you in any meaningful way.

Cut deaf people a break, because it's these kind of posts that are the most painful reminders of my physical inadequacies.

I play on XBL with a deaf gamer and I've never seen him offended by anything that we type to him. Maybe you need to toughen yourself up a bit if a forum post can upset you so much. He wasn't targeting you. He was targeting people who refuse to talk or buy mics, not those who really have no choice in the matter.

This reminds me of the time I told a blind girl to watch where she was going.

I'm not in the beta but have been following everyones impressions.

So what's the score with prone, is it something that for a fact, simply won't ever be in the game, or is it just oddly not present in the beta?

don't feel like reading through the thread but can anyone explain the goldrush gameplay?

Go to the Gold if you're on Attack, take said gold by placing a charge, move on to the next gold marker. If you're on Defense, defend the gold/defuse charges. Easy enough.
