Bayonetta: Special Edition |OT| Fly Me To Wii U

Just finished yesterday in one sitting!!! Great game!!

I had the 360 version, but wanted to wait the Wii U version.

I used the method to obtain a lot of rings and bought the umbram climax accesory, but didn´t used it to finish the game.

I enjoyed it a lot.

Just finished Chapter 14. Couldn't help myself. The rocket section was pretty terrible (ooh, so controversial), but the boss fight afterwards is definitely my favourite fight so far. I'm still on a high but it's 1AM here and I gotta sleep.

That's the worst part about the harrier section.

Want to re-play the best boss fight in the game? Have fun suffering through the worst section of the game first.

It is pretty shitty. I wish a boss battle mode was added to the Wii U version like what MGR on PC got.

I actually don't mind the actual mechanics of the section, it's just that it's about 30% too long and you have to dodge so much (especially for someone like me who gets motion sickness just looking at a car). Made worse by the fact you have that really cool fight right after.

Framerate takes a massive shit on the airplane during the escort section. Was it that bad on 360?

It was definitely one of the worse areas in the 360 version. I wish Digital Foundry would have been more thorough in their analysis, as they seemed to mainly do framerate tests for the very early areas of the game.

As a person who hadn't made it quite this far on the 360 version...

WHY THE HELL WOULD YOU UPGRADE GRACE AND GLORY!? TO BE IMMUNE TO WITCH TIME? AGH.

Yeah, I don't remember it being THAT bad. It was like slideshow status when I was fighting the flying enemies.

Still an overall good port though. Can't wait to start Bayo 2 this week.

Towards the end it felt like a LOT of enemies are immune to witch time. Platinum surely didn't pull any punches even at Normal difficulty :D

Ironically normal encounters felt a lot harder than the big chapter filling bosses towards the end of the game.

Bowser's arms and legs replace Madama Butterfly's during Wicked Weave attacks and parts where you lift things, but during times where she headbutts her head isn't replaced with Bowser's head.

With the Link and Metroid costume Bayonetta's Eye of the World on her chest is missing, causing some weirdness in cutscenes where it's being focused on, but other than that there's not really too much of a missed experience. I'd still say keep the original outfit until next playthroughs though, the aesthetic of it is really nice.

Thanks for the advice, I'll probably use the alt costumes when I go through the game on easy.

Gracious and Glorious definitely felt harder than any of the bosses, lol.

played this a bit this morning....I thought I wouldn't replay it, but looking more into dodge offset, I feel like I missed half the game, despite beating NSIC.

Has anyone here ever gotten the 1 million halo bonus in chapter 14?

I didn't know there was one!

You have to kill every enemy in the first two verses without getting hit.

Is it a repeatable bonus? I imagine with enough practice this would be the go-to way for halo farming.

Bonus Boss spoiler:
Has anyone fought Rodin yet? I never bothered in the 360 version but I think I'm going to go for it here.

I'm terrible. Bayonetta reminds me of the first time playing DMC3. I've had 3+ skulls on every level since the third.

Do people have any tips for improving? Should I learn the combos (of which there seem to be an endless number)? Should I focus on dodging and only attack when punishing during Witch Time?

PKP is the best combo in the game, it's all you really need to know for the most part. The last punch will do a wicked weave attack (looks like a giant fist), this is the most important part of the combo as it is unblockable, auto tracks and does big damage.

Try playing at the mid to long range, this is what differentiates Bayonetta from other games in the genre. You don't need to be in an enemies face to attack it with combos.

This is because if you press P or K and hold it you will notice that Bayonetta does the punch or kick and then keeps firing her gun. This is what allows you to fight at mid to long range.

Just do P (hold), K (hold), P (hold). You will be comboing and doing Wicked Weave attacks without needing to be close to the enemy. If you play this way then the enemy also won't be able to counter you because you are never really physically touching them.

After putting some time in with the game I have to say I am mostly liking it. The combat is really fun, I still get hit way too much but I think its just a case of not knowing the enemies enough. I usually get really high grades for combos but my damage taken and those insane fail state QTEs that are pure garbage just knock me down. Removing them from the game would have been better. I had little issue in the early chapters when the same things I am doing in the QTE were done in a cutscene with no input. Plus some of them don't even make sense from a game world perspective. You have a witch who can zip all around and slow time but the window to jump from one ledge to another is a few milliseconds and missing this window results in death. All after watching a cutscene where things are blowing up all around you and Bayonetta is so cool and calm in how she deals with it. Without spoiling too much about Bayonetta 2 do these dumb instant death QTEs make it into the sequel?

No clue if it's repeatable.

I was wrong about how much it was, the bonus is 10 million.

Absolutely zero shitty QTE.

The only QTE you'll find in B2 are jumps (very few) and button mashers.

Same, but it's simple, they're just badly done QTE, the window for execution is so damn narrow that you almost need to know what to do by heart or be REALLY quick on the trigger.

I haven't seen any that I can recall besides one in the prologue that is way more lenient.

And yea the ones in 2 are mashed and very generous compared to the first game.

Wait. The game started and I'm already full of combos, it doesn't teach me anything and I don't get why should I change my combat. Is this what Bayonetta is about? Because after the beauty of W101 this feels like the a big disappointment.

That stationary gun part was awful, good god I died three times during that.

Took me over 5min since I painfully had to heal using taunts each time the boss used that screen-filling beam attack :/

Otherwise it's just shooting until one of the rockets has almost hit you, exit the cannon, immediately dodge the first rocket to get Witch Time and use that to shoot. Rinse and repeat, one of the worst parts in the game. So boring :/

Tried to play through it again but I really can't stomach the framerate. Unlike DF opinion it feels worse to me than the 360 version, but that might totally be my memory fooling me. No tearing is great but so much judder. :(

You can buy new moves, like W101, and you will occasionally get new stuff, but generally most of it comes from learning about things you didn't know you could do, or teaching you to use the game's mechanics effectively, like Witch Time.

Wow, the game just broke really hard. I'm on the
motorcycle section
, and I can't turn at all. The analog stick just does nothing.

Wait, nevermind. I pressed the switch controls button and it started working. Maybe it was set to touchscreen controls.

yep, might as well trade in, you've already mastered the whole game

no, go look up some stuff or read this thread. there's a lot more to it then just beating guys and calling it a day.

Guess I have to give the game some time and take it as it is!

Thanks for the responses everyone. Glad to see they were removed in 2 as they really are my only problem so far with an absolutely amazing game.

This game has been super fun, but I am getting my ass kicked

Just learn how to dodge :p
lol

Look and listen for flashes and yells from your enemies during battle.
Your combos will get interrupted, so just anticipate it happening and the moment it does hit the dodge button, then contiue your combo. (dodge offset is better)

Also get the technique the Bat within. If you hit the dodge button at the same moment you get hit (obviously you want to hit it before) you will turn into bats activating witch time and allowing you to use a combo.

Doesn't read OPs, especially not his own
I dont get the complaints about the QTEs, they arent that hard, infact they arentthat hard at all, it just takes timing, and for the most part they make sense, punch QTEs are X kick QTEs are A. etc.

I just finished the game for the first time, and I am looking a unlocking accessories before playing it again on a harder difficulty.

And then there's jump QTE which sometimes are Y and sometimes are Analog Stick+B. Also the Input Window is very strict and you won't know when an QTE is going to show up the first time, which means a lot of cheap deaths. Weakest parts of the game along with the Vehicle sections.

Hey guys, I'm having some trouble with the Beloveds, especially the

ones in Chapter

. I forget how I quickly dispatched them on PS3 years ago. Tips?

Spam wicked weaves with dodge offset all over the place. Enter witch time whenever they attack.
