There is a trend towards less in your face sexyness. You see it in the most iconic female gaming character: Modern Lara Croft is way less sexualized for example.
Also, I'll never forget what they did to Chloe from Uncharted. They needed her ass after the perfect UC3 mp model. These monsters.
Cyberpunk has some great asses though. So there's hope.
Funnily enough I'd say that Lara in the first reboot game was the most sexualized.
Original Lara was never very sexualized to begin with... She wore freaking shorts I mean cmon and the graphics were so bad.
Lara looked more like a real supermodel in the 2013 game than she ever has and even a lot of the violent depictions were weirdly '' pretty ''.
And then there's the weird sexual violence implications and the fact that porn surrounding Tomb Raider ramped up like crazy.
People act like just because her breasts were smaller and she didn't show midriff or uh, knees anymore that she wasn't sexualized anymore.
Like did no one watch the trailers or play the game?
OG Lara Croft was way more independent and didn't get into situations where guys were basically trying to assault her etc and she wasn't an emotional wreck with daddy issues.
Edit: Even with other depictions in previous games before the reboot they still made sense.
Is it really '' sexualized '' that she wears a swimsuit when she's swimming?
If anything I find the new Lara perpetually wearing makeup even with the '' muh realism '' and how she gets constantly injured in ways that would kill or disable a person for life and walks it off perfectly fine to be more sexualized.
Lara should look like Quasimodo at this point but she still looks like a model.
And even when she gets dirty and beaten up there's like this odd attractiveness to it often times where she has like a streak of red blood on her lips and a semi-open mouth and the rest of her is unscathed.
