I wouldnt go and say they "were like this". I feel there is a bigger discussion of how the wealthy and accommodated people (regardless of the country / race) when they stop facing struggle (war, hunger, etc) the human brain probably starts inventing their own battles where they set up themselves as the "heros" or on "the right side of history" a.k.a virtue signaling. There has to be some scientific study on this topic on why people turn like this. Also thats why wokeness is usually rejected or mocked on South America (where I come from) because it looks absurd to be discussing "pronouns" when there are places with actual dictatorships or life/death situations.

I don't think the pronoun degeneracy was ever commercially motivated, especially in the games industry (they surely cannot be that clueless). I suspect in this case they (Bungie) have been told to cut it out rather than deciding that for themselves, and with the axe already looming they aren't exactly in a strong position to fight it.

It is fair to assume if they accept this that they care more about keeping their jobs than they do about fighting the good fight however. Fair weather revolutionaries if you will.

Before the big DEI wave I literally saw presentations about exactly this. That inclusivity and a wide range of people from different backgrounds actually improves business outcomes.

Source: I work for a multi-national consulting firm with over 50 offices worldwide so all of our internal presentations are the same ones businesses all over the world are seeing.

I still think pronouns are a nothing topic though. Overall DEI push had some bad decisions being made but really don't give a fuck if there is a "he/him" in my profile. Nor have I ever witnessed any issues with pronouns or any of this stuff. The employees who are "diverse" aren't any better or worse than the straight white male employees. The best people who've ever worked on the teams I've lead have been... a diverse mix.

I think the bigger issue is just younger employees generally kind of suck and weren't raised to work hard. Refuse to go into offices, think working more than 40 hours occasionally is some terrible thing, etc. And by "younger" I mean starting with younger millennials, or maybe just millennials as a whole.

DEI was the previous bullshit corporate fad before AI.

Investment firms like BlackRock were giving preferential treatment on investment if you played the ESG/DEI game and kissed the ring. So the financial impetus was immense and all fucking performative bullshit.

And it all failed, according to the CEO of BlackRock himself. It actually bankrupted some companies and corporations hemoraged money and talent drain. And "true believers" infested all corners that they seemingly have been laying off.


Corporations as a whole won't go back unless another money scheme works with it. They have the AI trend now to direct all that scam energy into. Though, the remenants of it still persist.

There are many people in high positions that are true believers. Some still are stubbornly acting like it is the late 2010s, others are getting sidelined to fellate the AI trend.

Any sort of resistence to social issues that could cost them money will more than likely be axed (quietly). But they aren't going to budge on AI. They will just rename it.

I believe Sweet Baby Inc. consulted on Wolverine, and all of that started before Deadpool & Wolverine became one of the biggest hits of all time by mocking woke stupidity. Now we'll see if Insomniac Games is smart enough to follow the path of success or failure.

I'd honestly bet money that a lot of things about this game changed, especially since we'll be able to compare it with the leaked materials from an early build. Even the latest trailer already felt to me like some things went in a different direction.

Who would of thought releasing a free to play game with androgynous characters and straight overweight lesbians wouldn't appeal to your chore gaming audience young male gamers… I honestly want to know what goes on in these companies during meeting over graphics production and release. If you had one smart person who says wait a sec will these characters appeal to our audience? Just because you have 1 of those/them in the team doesn't mean you need to make the game woke?

Sex has sold forever, your exclusion of these types of character isn't winning you anything but it sure is costing your companies.. offer all of them and let the market speak but excluding them was just stupid also the game now doesn't even know what it wants to be.
