Can someone explain the Tekken story

Tekken 1:
Heihachi Mishima throws a martial arts tournament to find the best fighters in the world. Unbeknownst to him, one of the entrants is his son, Kazuya, who had entered in order to usurp his father's control of the powerful company he runs. Kazuya ends up winning and tosses his father off of a cliff, the same way he was when he was a child.
(Side stories)
- King wins enough money for an orphanage
- Thanks to the generosity of the Manji clan, Law is able to open a dojo to train his son and future fighters
- Paul is defeated by Kazuya in the finals, marking him as one of the strongest fighters.
- Michelle is granted the land back from the Zaibatsu that her family used to own

Tekken 2
Heihachi Mishima survives the cliff fall to find out that his son does in fact have the (literal) Devil in him. Kazuya throws the second King of Iron Fist tournament to call out the best fighters. Heihachi wins the tournament after fighting the Devil and decides to throw Kazuya into a volcano to prevent that evil from returning.
(Side stories)
- King, after becoming an alcoholic, is brought back to fighting shape thanks to his mentor, Armor King.
- Paul defeats Heihachi's bodyguard/pet Kuma, but loses the tournament thanks to a traffic jam.
- Yoshimitsu rescues Dr. Bosconovitch from G-Corp
- A stray Jack-2 unit rescues a girl named Jane from a warzone. That Jack-2 unit is destroyed by a Zaibatsu controlled satellite laser.
- Nina slips into a coma after this tournament. She has a child during this time, unknown to her.

Tekken 3
Heihachi Mishima learns of an ancient being in Mexico called Ogre who could provide him with huge power. Once he was awakened, fighters around the world begin vanishing. One of those fighters was Jun Kazama, who had borne a child with Kazuya named Jin. Unable to control the Ogre, Heihachi calls forth the King of Iron Fist tournament in order to draw Ogre out and capture him. Paul defeats Ogre, but leaves for some reason. Ogre then steals Heihachi's life force to become True Ogre. Jin Kazama defeats True Ogre, thanks to his Devil powers he got from his father. He flies away before being captured by Zaibatsu forces.
(Side stories)
- King died at the hands of Ogre when he was awakened. The King in this game going forward is a child raised in his orphanage. He is trained by Armor King.
- Ling Xaioyu is a classmate of Jin's and is invited to the KoIFT. She secretly longs for him and is shocked when he vanishes after the tournament.
- Kuma died of old age, but his son (also named Kuma) is now a trained fighter under Heihachi. He's in love with Ling's best friend, Panda.
- Forrest Law (Marshal Law's son) is the fighter for this game. Forrest takes up the call because his father is now running the family restaurant and can't leave to fight.

Tekken 4
Learning that G-Corp has some top secret information regarding the Devil, Heihachi sends Zaibatsu forced to raid G-Corp's headquarters. When they arrive, they find a very much alive Kazuya who vows revenge on Heihachi for throwing him into a volcano. Heihachi realizes that this could be his last fight and organizes the KoIFT once more to find the true successor to the Mishima Zaibatsu. Kazuya powers through the tournament to battle against Heihachi. Jin Kazama, who had gone into hiding after the events of 3, returns and defeats both Kazuya and Heihachi with his Devil powers and flees, again, into the night.
(Side stories)
- Craig Marduk is introduced as a new character in this game. King's new story-line revolves around getting revenge on Craig for killing Armor King in the ring.
- Lee Chaolan, who is Heihachi's adopted son, returns after being shamed out of the family in 2. He starts a new company called Violet systems and dons a disguise when entering the tournament.
- Steve Fox emerges as a new fighter and has ties to Nina. Is this the child she bore during her coma?

Tekken 5
After Jin had fled the Hon-Maru, Kazuya and Heihachi are stunned. The area is bombarded by newly developed Jack robots (designed by Jane) to attack and kill the Mishimas. Kazuya escapes and leaves his father for dead when the Jack units self-destruct. A mysterious ninja figure, Raven, confirms that Heihachi had been assassinated. The explosion breaks the seal on a demonic power that Heihachi had been hiding under the building. Jinpachi Mishima (Heihachi's father) had been unearthed and a new tournament was organized to take him out. Heihachi turns out to be alive (after being blasted miles away) and goes into hiding. Jin comes face to face with Jinpachi and defeats him, taking over the Mishima Zaibatsu.
(Side Stories)
- Asuka Kazama, a relative of Jun Kazama, enters the tournament to find the man who critically injured her father. It turns out to be major criminal Feng Wei, who Lei Wulong is also searching for.
- King runs into, what appears to be, Armor King. He doesn't know who this impostor is, but he fights just like his mentor and is also after Marduk for some reason.
- A bunch of fighters feared dead after the awakening of Ogre return.

Tekken 6
Jin Kazama is now the head of the Mishima Zaibatsu and plunges the world into war with various factions. This discord is a way of drawing out yet another ancient evil called Azazel. While this is all happening, a bunch of stupid plot development goes on with a guy named Lars (who is Heihachi's other son) and a robot developed by Dr. Boskonivich named Alisa. Eventually, Azazel is awakened and defeated by Jin. His intent was to have Azazel win and take out the Devil gene once and for all, but the Devil took over Jin and wiped Azazel out. Jin flees into the desert after the events.
(Side stories)
- Too many to list at this point.

Did both Kings need to win money for the orphanage?

Speaking of which, there are two Kings and Armour Kings. King 1 and Armor King 1 were rivals and friends, Armor King 1 was King 2's mentor, Armor King 1 was killed by Marduk. King 2 ended up teaming up with Marduk. Armor King 2 hated Marduk for killing Armor King 1, and was annoyed at King 2 for joining him.

Also, Armor King 1 also trained Roger and Alex.

In Tekken 1 and 2, Armor King was shown to have a debilitating disease of sorts. He is literally coughing up blood as he seems ready to exit his wrestling career(his T1 ending). He then kind of resigns entirely taking off his mask as King wins some wrestling tourney and seemingly is proud of his tutor(T2 ending). Hell, it looks like he is literally dead in the locker room when King finds him.

Need to check the rest of this. Haven't rewatched anything beyond T3 yet in the gallery.

Why would King 2 even team up with Marduk? And Tekken is 1v1 anyway, why the fuck would he even need a partner
King 2 defeated Marduk twice (including standing over Marduk in the hospital ready to kill him) and decided that revenge wasn't worth it. I like that he did because it's in keeping with King 1's benevolent nature. This is a good watch that sums it up.

King 2 is about to kill him, sees a picture of him with his family, and then they team up.

For Tekken Tag!

Speaking of which, Armor King 2 teams up with Julia, who is now a masked wrestler called Jaycee. And they're against King 2 and Marduk. Except for when Armor King 2 and King 2 are partnered up with their unique tag throws.

Big thanks for posting that!

One thing that needs to be notated is that in the time between T1 and T2, Kazuya was in some shit. The Zaibatsu was notorious but Kazuya bumped it up to another level. He was into arms dealing, assassination, extortion and even smuggling animals. That heel turn was wild.
Tekken 1:
- Paul is defeated by Heihachi's pet/bodyguard Kuma

Just gotta correct this. Nah, Paul made it to the finals and lost to Kazuya in a long fight apparently. In T2 he was about to face him again but then the traffic jam happened.

the Tag Tournament games and not Cannon, so none of that happens

Only him or do the entire Street Fighter characters exist in the Tekken universe?

we don't know, Akuma is Cannon, we don't know how he got here and that's it

Man, I really need to start playing Tekken for real. I always liked playing 5, and 6 and even Revolution were a lot of fun, too. The endings were literally the best, but since I was only ever borrowing it or playing it at someone else's place, I never really knew what the hell was going on in the story. To know it's this insane is actually amazing.

I know that, I'm just giving more reasons why the King story is stupid as anything.
The Yoshimitsu vs Roger rock paper scissors match is canon in my eyes though.

Tekken can be best summarized as the anti-thesis of One Pice.

If you died on-screen you are 100% fine.

Someone mentioned killing you off-screen? Yeah you are dead.

Whoops. I did my summary from memory, so things that far back might have been off a little. I'll correct this.

Let's see... What you need to know:

So this isn't official but I've always liked the idea that before Tekken 1 Kazuya is lying at the bottom of the cliff as a child dying he is then approached by the devil and they make a deal. It's kind of a cliche thing but I personally think a deal with the devil is more interesting than it being this weird hereditary thing. I also kind of wish Kazuya was the only one with the Devil stuff.

Men, women, bears, kangaroos, cyborgs and celestial beings punch and kick the shit out of each other in the Tournament of the Iron Fist. The End.

(Note - I believe Tekken translates from Japanese into Iron Fist)

You really want Tekker boiled down simply?

Ok so in da Tekker world there are some clans and groups that have special ablities to keep humanity safe. The Changs keep Ogre locked up until he roasted Julia's family.

Then you have the Ichijo family who have a blood curse that allows them to fight demons and shit.

So the most powerful member gets sent out because there is a vision that Heihachi will cause great damage, so they send their daughter out there (Kazumi) to shank his ass, however it does look like they fall in love and have a son, then she reveals she was there to kill him.

Heihachi being the badass that he it broke his wife neck and the act broke him, so then he trained their sona nd to see how tough he is, throws his ass off a cliff and Kazuya awakened the Ichijo bloodline and it scared the fuck outta old man, Hei so he killed his father and turned the Zaibatsu into a military corparation to kill his son. We have the Tekker story till 3 where father and son throw asses off cliff, in 3 he finds out Kazuya has a son and he raises Jin after Ogre roasted Jin's mum (Roasting of mums is tekker in a nutshell) so when Jin fights Ogre he loses then black out and see ogre dead,
and Hei saw Devil Jin and was like "Why this woman's family just keep transformin?!"
and he tries to kill Jin, we get tekker 5 and 7 where Jin puts away great granddad and kills the source of the blood curse that effects his family then plans to kill granddad,
dad and himself, but Jun stops him.

Now we got Tekker 7 where Hei explains why he's doing what he's doing, but the irony of all this shit is , If Kazumi never tried to kill the bastard, she'd be alive, if Hei told Kazuya and Jin why he trying to kill him they might have not turned out like him. So basically Kazumi started all this shit to save the world, it only worked out because the Kazama family can supress the devil gene and since Jin is a Mishima/Ichijo and Kazama he is free from all the fuckery

So yeah it's all about the Mishima dudes can't explain shit to one another.

Family dysfunction at it's finest or most insane, if you prefer...

You know... That's what happened. If you check Tekken 4, Devil is like an alt persona. It is right before he fights Jin that he subdues the Devil and becomes one with it.

Kazuya is just twisted individual in the end too :P

i have been playing *every* Tekken since 1994 and i just completed the Tekken 7 storymode yesterday.

Let me summarize the story:

i have no idea.
Even back in PS1 days i couldn't understand why there's a story part at all... its a fighting game?

Tbh, I never understood why heihaci and Kazuya were at each others throats and why H. Tried to kill Kazuya as a kid until playing story mode in a tekken 7. The whole time I thought Heihachi was an asshole but it turns out he really wasn't that bad.. just a broken man.

Even so.. shit is convoluted as hell and these little snippets of new characters we get makes things more wtf

That's what we call a retcon, (unless I missed something from previous games which I probably did). The story mode has quite a few of them honestly, but that was the big one from what I hear. I was always under the impression he threw Kazuya off the mountain to see if he was tough enough to one day rule the Zaibatsu. Regardless, Heihachi has been and will always be that lovable asshole to me.

No problem

The year is 2039. World wars have destroyed everything and territories are run by corporations, the mightiest -- and cruelest -- of which is Tekken. Jin Kazama (John Foo) witnesses the death of his mother Jun (Tomita) by Tekken in the slums known as Anvil. Vowing vengeance, and armed only with his street smarts and raw fighting skills, he enters a dangerous and potentially deadly combat tournament, where he must defeat the world's most elite fighters to become the "King of the Iron Fist."

Tekken 3: Paul defeats Ogre and leaves, thinking he won. Ogre transforms into True Ogre. Jin defeats True Ogre. Heihachi shoots Jin in the head but Jin transforms into Devil Jin and flies away. Heihachi declares himself the winner.
This is so fucking stupid. lmao

Tekken 3 is my favorite game too
