Can someone give me a brief explanation for Black Panther? Not familiar with him, but the movie seem to make Wakanda seem like a poorish african country being bullied by the mean avengers when their king is basically batman with a stealth jet that can stalk iron man?

Also is he suppose to be more magical or tech oriented?

I'm not sure what they'll do with Zemo. I think his character was primarily there to illustrate the salt when it comes to the destruction that Tony was accountable for.

Well in the comics doesn't he had some abilities or powers? They could somehow incorporate that into it

Just got out. Holy shit that movie was amazing. However, I'm not liking how they made Tony look like a fucking spoiled brat at the end. "That shield's not yours!" Fuck that man. I wanted to see Cap get his ass beat and he did up until that part. Yes I'm salty.
Makes perfect sense though. It's the shield of Captain America, an image that the average person in the Marvel universe represents with all the good in the world. Steve sided with Bucky of his personal feelings instead of what would be considered the noble thing to do and is effectively abandoning that image with him becoming a fugitive.

Captain America died this movie, but Steve Rogers lived.

That scene with Bucky and Cap in the stairwell merking everyone...

Worst scene for me, felt like fighting storm troopers.

Personally I enjoyed the character interactions and that moment at the end, "you don't deserve that shield, my father made it" I really felt Tony's pain at that point.

I adore this movie so so so much. Spider Man and Ant Man were definitely the highlights for me and I loved every second they were on the screen.

That was goddamn SPECTACULAR

Though I'm not entirely sure if it lived up to my hype. The airport fight definitely did but I can't shake the feeling that Winter Soldier is still the superior film. It's mainly the pacing issues that hold the movie back. My gripes at the moment are

- The first half moves way too fast in terms of plot. Big events like the UN bombing aren't given appropriate time to settle and I think it hurts the movie overall. It's hard to imagine how they could fix that though since the movie is pretty much its maximum length already

- Where the hell was Vision during the Airport fight?

- Spider-man indeed was really shoe-horned in. Funny thing is, he didn't have to be if it were just a bit more smartly written. That said, everything else about him was spot on.

- I'm not sure how I feel about Bucky being refrozen

- The music isn't as mediocre as people are saying but it wasn't used as well as it was in Winter Soldier

- What the hell happened with the Crossbones plot, what were they even stealing?

On the flip side, some quick thoughts beyond "omfg that was fucking awesome"

+ Zemo was pretty great. He was in it way more than I expected and Bruhl did an outstanding job. I'm surprised so many reviewers complained about him.

+ I knew Giant Man was coming but it still felt like a legit surprise. Rudd as a whole may have been funnier than he was in the entirety of Ant-Man

+ Speaking of surprises, I didn't think Rhodey would end up paralyzed. That was a shocker. I felt everyone in the theater wince at the thud he made when he hit the ground.

+ Wanda and Vision flirting was crazy cute to see

+ Hawkeye's diatribe in the Raft was unexpected but very welcome, the character has really grown on me

+ That final fight was just brutal all around. Tony is such a broken person, I feel so bad for him but I'm still Team Cap in the end.

+ It really does shake things up for the Avengers and will help give reasons as to why they're MIA for the rest of Phase 3 up to Infinity War

+ Speaking of Infinity War, getting the band back together is going to be a really amazing moment

I really need to see it again to solidify my thoughts on it. When I first saw AoU, I rated it maybe a B- but that eventually turned into a B+ with repeat viewings. AoU benefited greatly from additional viewings because it also suffered from being overstuffed with certain developments feeling rushed at first. Those complaints slowly softened with more viewings though because I knew what to expect and I could keep an eye out for details I had previously missed. I expect something similar here. Conversely, I gave Winter Soldier an A after my first viewing and that rating has stuck with it ever since.

At the moment, I'll give Civil War a really strong B+ but there's a good chance that'll get bumped up to an A-. I think I'll like it even more my second time through but I'm pretty confident Winter Soldier will stay above it. Guess I'll have to see it again a few times to decide for sure!

Yeah, you could see how he felt about the shield his father made be used to defend the person who killed him and Tony's mom.

There's a line where Tony tells him to just hang back and web people. From Tony's point of view, he needs a strong hero who can immobilize people with non-lethal methods. Spiderman is pretty much perfect for that role

- What the hell happened with the Crossbones plot, what were they even stealing?
That whole stealing thing was just to draw Cap to him so he could kamikaze him in revenge. Why else would be wear a suicide vest for the whole thing.
.

Zemo definitely gonna show up again and probably cause Black Panther some problems in the future. It's no coincidence he is the one who let him live and he ended up in Martin Freeman's custody.

Not sure. I'm not familiar with Zemo at all.

Baron Zemo has a gifted intellect, with certain scientific expertise, excellent marksmanship, and extensive training in hand-to-hand combat. He is also a highly accomplished strategist and leader. Helmut has circuitry in his headband designed to disrupt psionic manipulation. He carried various rifles, and sometimes carries a hand-held spray-gun for Adhesive X, the most powerful bonding agent ever invented.

The Moonstones grant Helmut Zemo a massive array of superhuman powers such as energy/gravity/light manipulation, molecular phasing, strength/durability augmentation, the ability to create spatial warps, flight and more.

This is just from the wikipedia i found.

Yeah, but for me, it doesn't change the idea that Iron Man brought a super powered child with no training into a war against assassins and highly trained special forces killers.

I'm surprised how much swearing was in the movie. So many bitch shit damns and ass lol, didn't bother me, in fact I like it, but it was surprising.

I liked it, but it felt more like an Avengers movie than it did a Captain America movie. Black Panther was cool and so was Spider Man (best screen version of the character, imo). Ant Man was the MVP, however.

Was there something I missed about the Spidey scene after the credits, or was he just playing around with the new suit?

I was wondering about that too.

That's not what I meant concerning Spider-man. Tony didn't even explain how he figured out Peter was Spider-Man. It really just kinda came out of nowhere.

I don't know if Crossbones was really just about revenge. The movie didn't make it too clear Tbh. And I'm still not sure what he was stealing.

Wakanda is not poor, it's probably the richest and most technologically advanced country in the world. Maybe you mistook Nigeria for Wakanda at the beginning of the movie?

reading the wikipedia writeup... I guess I did mistake it. So the wakanda connection was there were humanitarian workers from there in that building that blew up.

Was the high techness of that country mentioned anywhere in the movie though outside of the mid credit scene?

Something else that bothered me. i'm pretty sure at the beginning the hit on stark's parents was on a long foresty street, but the security cam footage at the end made it seem like they crashed near a building of sort? I could be misremembering something though.

I liked Falcon a lot in this. I thought he'd be a pushover in fights, but he can actually hold his own. But his best parts are the comedic one...

"You like cats?"

"I hate you."

and of course this

Concerning the movie feeling too much like an "Avengers" movie, it felt as much like an Avengers movie as the first two X-men films feel like X-men movies. What I mean is X-men and X2 feel like Wolverine movies the same way Civil War felt like a Cap movie.

Yeah, it's pretty wildly irresponsible lol, but I guess he was desperate

Remember that Tony also lives in New York, so he probably was keeping tabs on him maybe?

They were stealing some biological agent or something

Tony says when the video first starts playing that he instantly recognizes that road, so I assume it took place on the Stark Estate or something.

EVERYONE got their moment. That is probably the most satisfying part of all of this, is that everyone got to do cool shit and have good dramatic beats.

One of the better parts of the movie that I think everyone forgot was T'challa's bodyguard telling Black Widow to move or she would make her move and T'challa saying it would be interesting. Makes me hype for the Black Panther movie.

Loved the movie.

LOVED how everyone was awesome. When the Giant Man scene happened though... Man I can't wait till The Thanos Pain. Hawkeye's level 3 is right there to becoming a reality.

"Hey kid, where you from?"
"Queens."
"Brooklyn."

Easily my favorite scene. Dat Brooklyn love.

Damn that movie was beyond dope as fuck. Just so much shit that was awesome about it.

-Black Panther was just amazing. I personally loved how in the final act you thought he was gonna fuck shit up and go after Bucky but he seemed to eavesdrop at the right times see what was really going on in the end did the right thing and even stopping Zemo from killing himself.

-Spiderman was amazing as well in that airport fight scene but you can tell he was just thrown in cause they Marvel got joint rights to use him. However he was still great in those shoehorned scenes.

-Ant man going Giant was expected but really well done but got damn that hurt me when Stark said "Who is he" to him. Dat burn tho.

-This Aunt May was the best Aunt May ever. However in Rami's Spider man to now May did appear to look younger. The actor did look familiar so I just wiki's it and realized she was Mimi from the current season of Empire.

-The action scene were top notch again. Good lawd

Sad that Black Widow doesn't have a movie slated because there would never be a more appropriate time for her to have a solo than now.

Black Panther had hands down my favourite lines + delivery.

"I am not my father."
image.php

"Don't bother, Ms. Romanoff, I will kill him myself."
image.php

"So I ask you as a warrior and a king: How long do you think you can keep your friend away from me."
image.php

"I don't care."
image.php

"The living are not done with you yet."

THIS MOVIE SUCKED away any thoughts I had about it being bad when Black Widow was owning in the beginning. Fight scenes are still top notch and the hero battle is the highlight.

Yeah, I really, really, like this Spider-Man so far. I just hope they can deliver a great story in his solo film.

BUT I really want Black Panther's film before, even if we're not getting it first. Dude was moping the floor with everyone.

And I'd kill to see a buddy-cop movie with Falcon and The Winter Soldier. Car scene killed it in the theater.

In fact, I don't think I've had this much fun with an active audience since the first Avengers movie in '12. Movie didn't start on time, 20 minutes later, (so instead of 7:30 it started at 50) then everyone was chanting "RE-FUND", and throughout the movie people were really getting into it. Like damn, it was a lot of fun.

I also really appreciated that the major players got clear motivation for their actions. We even got development for Vision and his thing for Scarlet Witch.

This fucking movie man. Can't wait to own it on Blu-Ray.

Theatre marked out when Spider-man will return appeared , myself included.

So hyped for homecoming , and just as hyped if not morseo, for black panther. Chadwick aced the role, T'challa is boss

Loved every second of the movie.

So in the after-credit scene when Peter is toying with the tech and the spiderman symbol appears on the ceiling, is that suppose to represent something or be an actual device or gadget? Or is it just to get us hyped for Homecoming?
