I see it has already been talked about enough already but the whole Legends/Leaders divisions for the B1G is quite possibly one of the most asinine things ever.

Leaders and Legends sound like names for tittie bars. Everything about the redesign is dumb. The trophy names are well intended but clumsy.

Just the fact that it is still called the Big Ten is a joke. I prefer to call it The Big N or The Big Integer. The should have a couple of trophies called the +1 trophy that goes to the two worst teams in the league, so that they explicitly know they aren't being counted in the 10.

Edit: Just saw this on Arkansas, I have never heard of this violation before though.

Kiffin got in trouble for this one at UT, but there I believe he had them running onto the field and shit. It's not even a slap on the wrist.

Bunch of rumors going around that Ferentz decided to drug test the entire football team and a bunch are about to be suspended. Vegas has take their bowl game off the board.

Why in the fuck would you even do this to your team? Ferentz should be fired for sheer stupidity, and I don't care if every Iowa player was guilty of doping.

Yeah we did and Washington did it too (wonder where they learned it?)

Yes the greatest coach in Iowa history should be fired because he gave a drug test to his team. And now some might miss the INSIGHT BOWL. As a life long Hawkeye fan, who gives a fuck about the INSIGHT BOWL? From National Champion contenders to the fucking Insight Bowl with a team full of drug addicts. Awesome. Just fucking awesome.....

Should it be Big 12 instead?

Should've just called them the T and A divisions.

You sound bitter. You should get that looked at.

I think I saw some stat that 23 players would be suspended including 10 starters.

If this is true, Ferentz is a moron, and I don't care what the fuck Iowa fans say.

It's not like it's some kids doing pot. These are hard core drugs, and if that's what is going on in his locker room, he's absolutely doing the right thing.

I haven't ever seen anything official, but I've heard sixth-hand rumors from the booster crowd that Iowa is trying to position itself as a Stanford-lite, an academic-focused, ultra clean program. How well they're doing is certainly debatable. As an alum, I say more power to them, it's not like cheating is going to get championship-caliber recruiting classes to go to Iowa over Florida or Texas or USC, so they might as well try to do it right.

They just better beat fucking Iowa State.

If I think I know who you're referring, a lot of Iowa fans hoped this RB would turn his life around because of his abusive childhood that led him to many poor life decisions.

Quite a sad tale.

Espn's bowl mania show has Alabama near the highest confidence points. They seem confident in beating a B1G team.

I agree. The Million Dollar Marching Band does suck.

Edit: re: Ferentz and drug testing -- we're not talking about steroids and dope? What type of drugs were the kids doing? Heroin?

Codeine seems to be popular with the football kids these days...

Well DJK was caught with pain killers and coke.

Let's test mre's memory of random bullshit trivia. I say, "yes.

Edit: wait, this isn't a test. He said he marched at college. Damn it. And I remembered that factoid, too.

Iowa's problems go waaaay beyond players just taking drugs... Stuff I am hearing makes this sound like it's going to be gigantic.

Such as... we're not above rumor, innuendo, or libel here, so spill it!

Rumor is that the cops took a laptop belonging to DJK that had "customer information" on it that included several football players. Because of that, the school called for random drug tests which the majority of offensive starters failed.

From some iowa message boards.

Roughly - but more players may have been involved with the dealing aspect. Still - it's going to be a big black eye. Really will reflect poorly on Ferentz and the institutional control of Iowa. It sounds really really bad.

Damn. I had no idea it went this far.

Yup 1 season. Got to travel to Cal and Notre Dame for free.

I still have all my sheet music, but I think I threw out all my formation guides (since they were only good for the week we did them anyhow).

We did a lot of fairly complex stuff, but its the kind of stuff that isn't really as easy to appreciate for people who don't march. Crowds are more easily pleased when you spell something out (unless you are Stanford), or you have a fat tub player dot the I or something.

I don't know how it is at pansy schools that let you bring a flip folder onto the field, but marching band at USC was demanding as hell, hence why I only marched one season. I loved being on the field and in the stands playing, but I wasn't able to balance my time well enough.

Yuuuuuuuuuuum

Only been a handful of times, I need to try it again. Think they're building another one in Tuscaloosa, right near downtown (near Mugshots, Mellow Mushroom, the one tall building besides the Stadium - For Tuscaloosa College Football GAF)

There was literally right across the street from my class that I had a hour break after so I would eat at it nearly every day. My taste buds loved it, the rest of my body did not. :lol

Man, sounds like it is starting to get downright Sooner-ish up in Iowa.

I (used to) love Jimmy Johns. Then they put one a few blocks away from my old job, and they were the only place in the area that delivered. And with me working through lunches all the time, I ate it so much that the smell of it turns my stomach now :(
