Corocoro: Pokemon XY information trickling out

I like the eyes. I saw the art in its proper proportions (meaning: not a scrunched-up scan), and the eyes have an eerie beauty to them. Mystifying, even! I also dig the Miltoic/Skyla-esque color scheme, the billowing ribbons, and in the promo art for the Eevee short, dem majesty sparkles.
Yeah the eyes are also in similar style to leafeons actually. Kinda dissapointed umbreon was left out of the promo art of all the eeveelutions unless its wedged in that dark shadow where the page goes into the book.

Ideally, there'd be 8 legendaries. The trio legends, the cover legends, the event mew like pokemon and the event mewtwo like pokemon.

I wonder if theyd ever do a fossilized legendary?

Yeah that's how I expect realistically is the best amount. Trio cover legendary, the thematic, all catchable trio legendary, Event Cute Pokemon, Event non-Cute Pokemon.

Nope, again what does this idea of 'nostalgia' have to do with me enjoying a game I played when I was younger? I enjoy it because it's still a fun game and the gameplay holds up even to this day. I may have warm memories of it but if I can go back to the game after YEARS when my perception of it might be foggy and still have fun with it, I'm sure it's still a fun game to enjoy.

What you are defining is nostalgia.

I demand that Dewott and Samurott become Water/Fighting and gain Sacred Sword.
Meanwhile emboar's line will become ground type and learn earthquake. we have a deal.

Yes please!

Umbreon is there, right under Flareon. Its face is a bit cut off, though.

What are the odds that we know about starters evolutions in another page?

Approaching zero but never quite reaching it.

This reflects my own personal Pokemon cycle: New Pokemon revealed --> WTF --> moments pass --> BEST POKEMON EVER.

It happened with Chespin. It happened with Yveltal. And damn, now it's happening with Ninfia. Dem colors. Dat happy swagger.

Me too. Pokemon I like the first time I see it almost never end up being my favourites.

I like the design but not enough to use it. The bows and wispy things are blah to me. Its still cool though. I was just thinking is it likely that we'll be able to get or obtain every single Pokemon yet in xy? I just wonder because I know its hard work to include animations for a lot of Pokemon. Sorry if this is a stupid Queston but I don't know too much about these games, at least from dp and up.

Honestly, with the DNA symbols in the Japanese logos, I wouldn't be surprised if Ninfia was a splice between Eevee and Victini. Oh god.

Ninfia looks bad, wonder what's its type.

And fuck yeah, Mewtwo. Time to show all these weirdos how the real god of Pokémon rolls. Psystrike motherfuckers.

I reject this new Eeveelution sheerly on the fact that it is not named "Ninfeon".

Mewtwo had better ROCK Genesect.

2 of the other Japanese eveelutions end in "fia" so this will likely be changed to "eon" as well in America.

Saw speculation on reddit that she'd be renamed to Nymbeon like "nymbus" and be flying type. I like that.

I still think its going to be Nympheon. If they did go with that the typing could be very creative and the secretiveness would be a lot more interesting lol

All that shows is how ridiculous Smogon is.

At the point where I was beating entire OU teams with a single Bidoof (thanks, Species Clause), there was probably something wrong. I'd go back to using my 6-Bidoof team in a heartbeat were Moody to be unbanned.

Has anybody ever wondered how many revisions they go through when creating new.Pokemon? I feel like its not many.

It depends on the Pokemon. Some get reworked quite a few times.
However, there isn't a way to know for sure, because the amount of unfinished or scrapped Pokemon artwork that is out isn't that big.

It is a surprisingly high amount. They don't just go and do it without any care or attention. Pokémon is the second most best selling video-game franchise of all time so they take good care in these.

I am certain there are explanations and reasonings over some of the questionable choices in this design. We'll probably see when the movie trailer comes on Friday

You definitely know more than me. And thanks for your great site. I've been going to it for the most up to date news for eons.

They probably wouldn't do a 'Hystoria' since so many designs get reworked for following generations (Throh, Cubchoo, Shellos). There's some 'beta' artwork around, and we know some things about beta designs (Stunfisk was pure water and blue, Dwebble was originally a fire-type, Petilil was originally a 3-stage family) even if we haven't seen them.

I get kind of weirded out when Pokemon exist wearing items of clothing. From Hitmonchan's skirt to Sawk and Throh's attire. I know Sawk and Throh explain where their clothing comes from, but then they hatch from their eggs like that and...

You know what, Pokemon makes less sense the more you examine it.

Showers
Thunders
Booster
Eifie
Blackie
Leafia
Glacia
Ninfia

these pokes don't seem to follow any kind of naming pattern in japanese. i guess this is a case where the localized name is superior in every way (anyone remembers Freezer, Thunder and Fire? those guys received a godsend in localization too)

To clarify I'm not saying every scrapped idea would be great but I would undoubtedly see designs that I prefer over the design they went with. I liked some of torchics original designs more for instance.

Where did all of this get discovered?

I seriously thought it was an Audino evolution at first, the colors and eyes are exactly the same. I'm 99% sure it's Normal.
You're right.its funny how similar this looks to many Pokemon

Hell no - original Blatios was terrible and it's a good thing the two were defused.

Technically same gen Eeveelution follow pattern (Showers, Thunders, Booster has er, Eifie and Blackie have ie, and Leafia and Glacia have ia), but yeah. Also Thunders is definitely confusing since another mon has the similar sounding Thunder.

After the release of BW, there were various interviews and articles in magazines which revealed the development process, including things like this

Actually, in the case of Shellos and Gastrodon, there are unused back sprites in the gen 3 games. They aren't like the final design, though, and there is only one form.
