Corpse Party: Blood Drive (Vita) releasing in NA on October 13th

I can't wait for this but it's going to be sometime before I play it. Ordered the physical copy. The rush of games games is really hurting some of the smaller titles. I will be sure to play this right after Danganronpa Ultra Despair Girls and Until Dawn.

I've been playing it alongside Despair Girls and personally I've found BoS to be much more enjoyable. I eventually just stopped playing Despair Girls and focused on BoS until it was finished.

OK I need a video or some such that gives the quick major points of the story cuz I can vaguely remember some stuff.
For one thing
did EVERY student or adult get trapped in the cursed school by ripping the Sachiko paper? Can't remember @_@

For the most part, yes. Obviously, the serial murder victims (Yuki, Ryou, and Tokiko) weren't there due to the Sachiko charm, nor was Sachiko herself, nor Yoshie (Sachiko's mother), nor Takamine or Yoshikazu (the principal and his son), but I think every single other character in the series thus far came to Heavenly Host as part of the Sachiko Ever After ritual -- even Naho and Mr. Kibiki.

I think they didn't have to physically hold the charm just be in the vicinity to set into heavenly host. There might have also been bystanders sent to heavily host because of this.

Actually, I'm pretty sure this is incorrect.
To the best of my knowledge, everyone who was sent to Heavenly Host actively and willfully participated in the charm.

I thought
Sachiko willed some of the victims in without them doing the ever after charm? Or was that only in spinoffs and such?

Had it preordered since June but finally paid it off via amazon gc. The release estimae now says November (free shipping) so that better be in error.

DanganRonpa AE also had an amazon error that made it say "preparing for shipment" even after it arrived. So I'll just assume I'll get it by Oct 20th.

Oh, I thought we were only talking about the main characters of the series. If we're talking all students and teachers who died in Heavenly Host over the years, then you might be right -- though I was still under the impression that they'd all performed some manner of Sachiko charm, even if it wasn't the exact one described on Naho's blog. I assumed that by "willing in" victims, Sachiko had just convinced them to perform a prototypical version of Sachiko Ever After.

Yeah
thats what I meant mostly, I mean some of those people had to have been just willed or forced in by something besides the ever after charm.

I'm on chapter 3 in the first Corpse Party and I'm not really hooked. The story is the only reason I'm continuing with it since it's kinda interesting. I don't find the gameplay fun or anything and it's more messed up than scary.

Should I stick with it? I understand Book of Shadows is more room by room visual novel style but the story is mostly filler, which doesn't really excite me.

I'm the opposite, the game falls more into a suspenseful thriller for me than flat out survival horror or whatever. You are lower than a survival horror protagonist than this lol

The story has a blend of the truly fucked up and "murder mystery" in it...if it isn't grabbing you by the third chapter though ><

Book of Shadows is NOT mostly filler. That common misconception really needs to be quashed. Four of its eight chapters are non-canon "alternate universe" tales, but that doesn't mean they're filler -- they serve an extremely valuable purpose, helping to flesh out some of the characters who got most neglected the first time around and give a little background to their actions in the first game.

And the other four chapters contribute *very significantly* to the overall lore of Corpse Party.

Also, if you're enjoying the story, then you're enjoying the gameplay, because in Corpse Party, the gameplay IS the story. There's really nothing else -- it's more or less a visual novel, or a point-and-click adventure game. It's not an RPG, and it makes no pretense that it is.

If you're enjoying the story, I'd suggest continuing to play the game, as the story just gets more and more interesting as the narrative drifts closer and closer to the end.

The ending of the first is fantastic, and the start of Chapter 5... brr.

As for BoS, eh. There's only two chapters I really enjoyed; the one about Naho and the final one.

The rest pretty much is filler, IMO. And I can do without
an entire chapter of a girl being tortured, thanks.

By the way, is anyone working on the OT?
I entertained the idea of doing the OT in order to ensure it was comprehensive AND spoiler-free.
But I wanted to give Takao and InfiniteNine first crack at it since they did the OTs for both Corpse Party and Book of Shadows.
That and my graphic design skills are rather rusty.

It does remain unclaimed. I verified that much.

Too busy working at ACL I've pretty much been sleeping a ton since the first weekend so I imagine it'd be the same after this coming one too.
I should probably edit those OTs too since Minus exploded.

Alrighty then. I'll claim it. Not promising any fancy banners, though.

It's pretty simple really just take some nice art and crop it properly and use the same font/logo and make sure to align things properly.
Besides the original VN thread all my OTs were pretty low effort and had all the things needed.

XSEED, please check the BGM volume before publishing, the Danganronpa AE one is too damn loud.
OOF I just looked up the blood drive one on YouTube and not only is it loud as hell the music is pretty terrible. Come on now the main them of the first game would have made perfect background music for the home screen

EU people:

The game is now also available for pre-order on Rice Digital for £29.99 and there's a 10% off code (RICEPRE10) right now. Shipping to UK is free and to EU is £2.95, which actually turns this into a reasonably priced game compared to Marvelous EU's store.

Even though I'd like to support them directly, unless you want the LE there's really no reason to pre-order from Marvelous.

Just wanted to say I just beat the two games over the past week and overall enjoyed them. In general I dislike the obtuse trial and error nature of most of the choices in the first one, being able to save anytime in the second helped that. Still, the atmosphere is very rare for visual novels that I've played so it was well worth putting up with the rough edges. That being said, two questions:

1.) Any form of auto save at big moments in CP:BD? A better sort of rewind function like VLR or similar? I don't really like it giving me a wrong end screen and then taking me to the title, acting as if I'm not just going to reload a save anyways. Minor gripe, but still.

2.) Any reason to keep the games installed on my Vita? Does the third game read their existence or save files from them? I'd like to just clear them off to make room if not.

Nope on the auto-save. Nope on the rewind function. However, the decision pathing in Blood Drive isn't nearly as obtuse as it was in the original Corpse Party so you shouldn't find yourself getting stuck as much. Having multiple saves is still advisable.

No reason to keep them around unless you're referencing plot points in the earlier games. Nothing is brought over due to recognizing save files from the PSP games.

For those of you still grinding through the earlier Corpse Party titles, there IS a save transfer between the original Corpse Party and Book of Shadows which makes unlocking the Blood Drive prologue chapter in BoS more seamless. So bear that in mind.

While we're addressing pet peeves, I'm going to throw the big one people may have for Blood Drive up right now so people can mentally prepare themselves for it. Load times can be rather prolific. They're not pre-patch Sen no Kiseki bad... but they're not great. You'll be seeing a lot of that ominous face in the Now Loading screen.

I just bought the first 2 on sale on vita.
So physical is limited?
If thats the case ill pre order tomorrow as my card has no space for digital.

Sorry if this is the wrong thread but any EU pre-orders through Amazon should check out their order as mine was just canceled.

Mine too. Item no longer available or something. I was thinking of going for the rice digital deal anyway, this has made the decision for me.
