TIL that it's misogynistic to find someone attractive.

It's weird that those calling this "misogyny" don't believe that men are able to think two things, that men are both able to find her attractive and also consider her political views and what she's doing as attorney general of Crimea.

That being said, seeing as how I have no interest in this whole Crimea business, I'm just interested because she's quite the qt and the internet going gaga for her makes me smile.

Misogyny may manifest as objectification, but that doesn't mean that all objectification is misogyny. In fact, benevolent sexism or putting women on pedestals is objectification without animosity. It's still misguided and problematic, but it's not misogyny.

Indeed. It's somewhat akin to claiming that all nudity is automatically pornographic (versus erotic). There's a lack of value judgement at work in terms of appraisal versus a knee jerk whole sale rejection.

New puritanism in effect.

Crimean war redeemed?

Um, yikes.

And wow a pretty woman enters politics and so many start go head over heels.

Obviously the future is going to see male and female models trying to run for city or other fancy positions.

She's cute enough but the Crimean situation sucks ass.

I'd have a problem if most of the art wasn't tasteful and/or respectful.
She's cute as a button, totally adorbs, I would hug her and never let her go

BUT

I also understand that she has been placed in a rather uncomfortable position with Putin looming over her like a dark shadow and where she has been thrust center stage to give (most likely) planned/prepared answers to difficult questions and make everything look genuine and not a farce by the Russian government. I feel sorry for her.

BUT OMG!! SHE IS SO KAWAII!

Back in the States I think we had a fair amount of "Omg! Obama is so handsome" posts when he was first campaigning. I would not be surprised if her good looks played some part in placing her in this position. She must have genuine ability but Putin's probably like, "Hey! Pretty girl! Let's make her the face of Crimea so the West ignores the real issues."

Ahahahah, this is the best!

I kind of wish they would invade Japan with her leading the charge and when she stands over the burning husk that was once Tokyo THEN we will see how KAWAII she really is.

Joking

Would like to see a political drama like this. Puppet leader is put into power because they look pretty but turns out puppet is a brutally intelligent politician and uses their 'disarming charm' to free the occupied nation.

She has the deer in headlights look.

She was just appointed? She has a rough job in the next couple months.

Yes she's so Kawaii!

Did you actually read the subtitles rather than staring at her face? Didn't even do any "uhh" and "umm", which is more than can be said for most of us especially in such a high-profile position at a critical time period. She is quite aware of the issues present, what needs to be done, and at the end it's quite chilling the disconnect between people like her and the actual leaders.

Translation please? Also, epic picture. This is not misogyny. More like propaganda.
Look! How beautiful and powerful Crimean leaders placed by Putin are! Support Putin!

The question is whether they will let her do anything about it.

Yeah, one day maybe there will even be movie stars who become governors and presidents.
