Crysis 2 PS3 Demo Releasing Today

I didn't try Xbox 360 or PC demo, but used to play Killzone 3 the other day.

So here's my thought about visual quality in Crysis 2 PS3 demo (played it for about 15 minutes):

- resolution is well below 720P

- The sound is buggy (at the beginning i didn't hear any gunshot and in a couple of minutes everything goes in complete silence

- Framerate is below 30FPS. You can feel the lag even if you in increase sensitivity.

- Texture quality, for the most part, is terrible

- Lighting is flat. Just from videos i think ѝбоь 360 version is a miles better.

- Water quality is good.

- Pop-up is not that bad, but the LOD is awful (just look that the big boat)

- Overall image quality is very bad

Killzone 3 this is not. Very disappointed with the demo from visual standpoint (can't judge on gameplay yet) :/ I expected more - it's just don't look good on PS3...

Ugh.. I won't even download the demo..

Can I still download the 360 demo? Is it better?

I've played 3 rounds of PS3 demo. Looks a lot worse than Gamer settings from PC, IQ is horrible [no visible AA and subHD], framerate is unstable, but controller is quite responsive till You wont activate Nano Vision. On Nano Vision framerate goes down further and controller is no longer responsive.
Textures are bad, much worse than on PC, that same with shadows, LOD is aggresive [trees on Skyline change details 5 metres from You], reflections on water also has LOD, shadows has massive pop-up and water looks worse than on Gamer settings.

Definitely not a good showcase of CryEngine 3.

Screens look great without all the extra tacked on shit. Did you gain a decent performance boost by disabling them? I don't care for the AA or motion blur and could use the extra frames instead.

Not much, maybe 2-5 fps, but I was running it on Gamer in 45+ [mostly above 50] fps on C2D 2.5ghz, 2gb ram, Radeon 4850 so framerate wasnt really an issue, IQ was ;p

Wow.

When I was able to get into a game of Black Ops on the Ps3 during launch a lot easier than this, then you know there's probably something not right here.

Not a good first impression, Crytek. Haven't been able to join one match yet. I've already tried at least ten times. I have a strict NAT but that's never kept me from joining a match in a COD game, Battlefield game, Killzone 3 demo/beta.

And reading all the impressions here are bumming me the fuck out. :(

Considering the PC version doesn't look exponentially better, I wouldn't place 360 on a pedestal. Both look about the same to me. If there's a reason to not DL, it's that the MP isn't all that fun. That's just my opinion though (the gameplay part).

Should be unsurprising by this point.

The real kicker to me is that the MP in Crysis 1 is fun. I just started playing that the last week. To me, the MP in Crysis 2 just doesn't feel as fun based on this demo.

This is strange - I'm living in Bulgaria (Eastern Europe), using US PSN account and i've join a couple of times (yet to be rejected).

UK based here and finding/joining sessions almost straight away.

Glad I'm not the only one with connection issues. Anyway whatever probably won't get the game just wanted to see how the ps3 port looked

The Crysis 360 open beta also had connection issues back in January and it took them until the re-release in March to fix those. Is this the first time Crytek does a mass scale test of their code on the PS3? If so, will it take them one month to patch the game? Doesn't the game release in less than 10 days? Pretty dissappointing from Crysis. The situation in the PC isn't better either, fucking Gamespy is a joke.

Wait what Nat issues?
I have Nat 2, anyone had problems with it?

After seeing that and not being able to connect to a game for 15 minutes, I'm deleting this garbage. It's likely a terrible game anyway.

Installed and playing now. Im no resolution expert or even decent but I'll give my quick impressions.
brb.

edit1: Man that intro video looked terrible and was lame ugh.

edit2: Just got in a game...this looks absolutely terrible. Oh my god. Haze looks better than this. Ugh guess ill play instead of getting shot.

edit3: So uh it was interesting but not good looking at all. This looks grainy 24/7. Wow...

llololl

Played three rounds, it's okay. It's hideous visually, truly heinous. The gameplay is okay, what it's really done though, is make me very excited for Brink.

In terms of connection, in all three rounds were found quickly, no one dropped out, I saw no major lag issues either, it's not great, it's not terrible.

I won't be playing the MP when I get the game, but it's not quite as bad as I'd imagined.

Crysis multiplayer is just a mess. On any platform, judging by these beta trials.

It's hard to believe the final game will be any better now.

I'll just wait for a steam sale and some good mods to come out.

But I think it will perform very well sales-wise.

Wow. That was quite awful. Framerate and resolution were very poor. At least KZ3 looked great when it dipped below 30 FPS.

For the record, I kinda enjoyed my time with the PC demo -- especially playing with the controller.

imgur is a terrible webhost to use for judging graphics, due to them recompressing them. Not saying it doesn't look like that (as I can't get into a game).

After reading these impressions all I gotta say is LOL CRYTEK. I almost want to download it to experience the lulz firsthand but I have better things to do with my bandwidth.
