CYBERPUNK 2077 |OT2| The Last Samurai [>56K Warning_]

I don't get how people bash this game for lack of choices but then hold up Rockstar as the standard that CDPR failed to live up to. It might not have the same choices their favorite RPG has but it certainly has more than Rockstar games. The most choices I have seen in a Rockstar game was the deal or revenge ending in GTA IV. I love their games but they are very much on rails.

GTA isn't an rpg. GTA didn't have years of hype videos showing features (such as 'choices') then release a game completely devoid of features seen in games from 15 years ago.

This is true but then they shouldn't compare it to GTA then. If so then they should show where GTA falls short. When you make a comparison to another game you can't just ignore where the other game falls short which is in many areas especially when it comes to GTA V.

We are not talking about GTAV insane details here. We are talking about common sense stuff for any open world game like physics and alternate path to AI when the player’s vehicle block the way. That’s game development 101.

Their favorite RPG doesn't have that many choices. The haters got themselves so worked up and maaaaaad that all possibility of logic or reasonable discussion went out the window a month ago. Best to ignore them and laugh as they throw temper tantrums over a fucking game.

There are plenty of choices in the game, they're just not the kind of choices that are "press A to win, sport!" or scream in your face, "This choice MATTERED!"

That's the exact same behaviour you see from some users in the comment section of such videos on YT. In one they write the game sucks, in the other that the game is great, and so on. This is done only to promote their new channels and get visibility. In fact, the way this platform works is totally twisted. Hard to get quality informations.

Finish the final quest, if was terrible but im super bummed it's over.. All I have left is the very low danger quests.. Anything else I can do?
Search the world. Even the low danger quests have bodies with cool equipment on them nearby. THere are a tonne of dead bodies just laying around with Legendary drops and sometimes even Epic drops can be save scummed to get you legendary and extra mod slots. I admit its better to do this type of search early on and intersperse main quest stuff as you go to keep it more interesting, but close down the map and just start exploring...you wont bedisappointed and you will be surprised how much you missed.

Agreed 100%. New Vegas was good, but it most certainly didnt inspire me to choose a differnt ending in a second playthrough and the piddly quests I didnt do at all. There wasnt as much real choice as people think because A.) the legion were assholes, b.) the boomers were awesome, C.) whats his name from the Road DLC was an asshole, D.) nobody in their right mind would choose to work for some rich asshole in a hyperbolic chamber instead of taking the reigns yourself. The other DLC's were inconsequential to the story. I chose the only choices that made any sense al all and therefore was done with the game in linear fashion even though I know there could have been a different cut scene at the end and perhaps even a different final battle.

I am looking forward to trying all the endings in CP although Im sure a couple will make me puke. I really got into the characters in this game and am looking forward to seeing what Judy, Panam, RIver, and Jackie's relations have addded to that of me and Johnny.

Disclaimer:

I realize i am a selective gamer and really have only played aRPG games since 2009 with Demon's souls which got me back into gaming big time (I played oblivion but wasnt as enthused until Demons). then I played withcher 2 and liked the story and graphics and world but still QTE's and HATED the game play and such (so much so I havent even played TW3 to completion yet...I will but have to restart and free up space on my drive). Fallout new vegas was a quintessential "Must play" for the type of game I play and I played it last year on PC. I played CP on Ps5 and experienced a few more crashes than even NEw vegas likley, but it was still close, sometimes 2, 3, even 4 or 5 in one session. CP had better graphics, more interesting world (the fallout series had been overdone by that point) the end game choices are still to come for me, but the ability to loot areas that have quests later in the game was done better in CP, yes believe me there were actually less times I screwed up a quest in CP than New vegas because I went there too early. YOu simply arent allowed to go to places that have major quests too early or out of sequence in Bethesda games the door will be locked or you have to load very old saves and start over. I am not and have never been a shooting enthusiast but this was the best "RPG" shooter I have played by far (only played uncharted and half life 2 which made me vertigo sick so take it FWIW).

GTA has never been in my wheel house, I work with criminals for a living and it never appealed to me to role play a criminal...too much like work. That said, I believe the plethora of people in this thread who say that role playing a blade runner style CP character is vastly differnt than an 'merican gangstah. TBH I cant thtink of anything Id less like to play than GTA where playing in a blade runner sandbox ranks about the highest, even though there is some criminal crossover elements. Yes even higher than swords and sorcery (DS123) and weird space influenced Victorian England (Blooodbourne), my two previously fav "worlds".

I support those that say these games dont need to be compared...I also cant stand old west stuff. ...hence although tempted, I have not payed any RDR stuff either.

Actually, the only side quest i really liked and felt like a CDPR quality side quest. Thers so many of those in Witcher 3, and most side quests in Cyberpunk are quite boring. That one was amazing.
Peralez sidequest was the highlight for me, mostly because of how insane the twist is.

The Hunt was very memorable too, because of the weird atmosphere. Unfortunately I don't have any real connection to River, let alone his nephew [who I thought to be a little kid but wasn't lol] so I wasn't really personally involved in the drama.

But yeah, not a lot of memorable sidequests.

Really? I thought
Panam, Judy and Johnny's
stories were also great. I didn't really like
Kerry's
part that much, but still. Those three were IMO great.

Where does the deadline come from? I remember only about January?
The CEO/co-founder said "within 10 days" or something like that. If we take his word for granted, the patch is supposed to be available this week, video was out on the 13th.

I think the patch is done, but it's waiting for Sony / Microsoft to pass certification which is the reason for a vague "in 10 days" timeline,

They did the same with Witcher 3, despite PC patch ready to go they waited for certification so they can do a simultaneous release.

Indeed. 1.1 Patch was probably done a week or so ago as it needs Cert. Someone on the CDP forums had noted that CDP tends to put out their Patches on Friday so tomorrow is a good bet. I think they do that so they can gather feedback over the weekend.

Funny thing is when RDR2 was new and all the rave, people were complaining how bad the mission design in that game is and how awful the gunplay is in Rockstar games.
Youtube is filled with "why popular game is actually terrible" videos with millions of views. People watch them and parrot the same words all over the net cause they can't form their own opinions.

In the end, just cause some random stranger said something is bad or good, doesn't make it so for you. Everything you hear or read is an opinion.

So I went back to play a bit on my corpo save and accidentally overwrote my nomad save, losing 30 hours of progress. Oh well. Had around 85 hours on each save.

I kinda did the same thing by only relying on quicksaves but didn't lose nowhere near as much progress. Basically just had to redo The Heist and the mission afterwards.

ALWAYS make a manual save before switching characters.

don't get too excited about this patch or you'll be dissapointed when you see it's mostly crashes and bug fixes. and then you can be pleasantly surprised if it's more than just that.
Right. What most people expect will arrive between february and april, if not later, I guess.

Been meaning to finish this as I'm on the last mission, point of no return and yet last night it was "just one more side mission" for two hours.

So I guess I am a bit invested in the story and seeing how things play out.

That's the manual save I overwrote, and previous manual save was much older.

Yeah, been doing the same for the last week or so. I've finally hit level 50 last night, so should be able make some progress on the story this weekend.

I thought loads of them were great to good. I think people have some Witcher nostalgia here: Bloody Baron ( which is part of main story), Tower of Mice, and a a few smaller quests were great. ( it's been a while since I played, though).
Cyberpunk has fantastic two quests from Sinnerman, both from Peralez, everything from Judy/Panam/River/Kerry ( I pretty much loved all with secondary characters). That one with Rogue ( really incredible scene at Johnny's "grave"). Jackie's funeral.
And there were a ton of smaller quests/gigs that were really fun to do. Take out a corpo bitch that did hit&run on some girl from Haywood. Or that corpo researcher in high apartment complex. Rescue that cop from mental ward. Or that one hiding in motel. Father&son BD recording studio. That guy that offs himself in some really dank apartment. Blue Moon's stalker. Claire's story/races. Wakako also had several great gigs. That one that led to gypsy machine you get from Isis. Or just incredibly fun shoot outs in cool places like that casino, corpo offices, gay bar, etc. Some really had great level design ( like that high class nightclub you had to sneak into).
I'm genuinely surprised people think they were better in Witcher: they had a bit more dialogue ( with npcs/quest givers), but Cyberpunk has ( even) better worldbuilding, way more variety of different scenarios, locations you visit, and you could handle them in number of ways.
Only thing I think they overdone a bit, were Cyberpsychos gigs. ( boss fights were too simple and "search for info" was predictable).

Yeah I wouldn't put much hope in quality of life updates until they get the last gen versions out of the gutter, unfortunately.

I think Keanu was a bad choice, he's too well known it kinda feels like I've seen it all before.

I do wonder what this patch will address, Im hoping some Ai fixes.

I have to agree. There were many things I liked in the game, but Keanu was not one of them. I couldn't stop seeing a strange John Wick every time he was on screen, and he was on screen too much.
