Dark Souls III [unmarked Spoilers Thread]

Can you get a proper pyro trainer at the firelink and where is it? I'm playing two characters and the magic one is feeling so inferior to pure melee.

Yes Pyromancer teacher is very early. You remember the circle of fire with all these believers and the first fat lady? To the right is a bridge and if you cross it and get into the house and outside again the teacher will be in a cage in the house infront of you:

4 endings to the game have been found, and I think that's all of them (link the fire, don't link it, don't link it and kill the firekeeper, and usurper of dark). Most secret areas and covenants have also been found but there are still a few big loose ends I am curious about:

The Siegward questline. I know it picks back up when you find him in a well but don't know how it goes from there.

The Lautrec 2.0 killer in the shrine. The shady guy who gives you red eye orbs reappears when you use them and tells you where to find the true orb. After getting that he then tells you were to find the goddess who's too into slugs who runs the invader covenant. After finding it he meets you there, but when you leave and come back shes dead and hes nowhere to be found, leaving behind the Grey Eye Orb ala DS1. Hes likely behind other shrine disappearances as well. So where is the Grey Orb used to confront him?

The Parallel Dark World. Just what is this place and how can it be connected the way it is to the rest of the game world? You simply walk right into it as if going through a door, yet its clear this is an entirely different place, or even world. Can you place the Cinder remains on the thrones inside this particular Firelink Shrine? What are they talking about when the Firekeeper and the remaining Lord in the Shrine mention the betrayals of the past and how she would remember? Both the soul on the roof of the Shrine and the eyes found in the Dark World give her memories of uncomfortable past truths if you give them to her.

Of course I'm waiting around to find out what all the covenant rewards are since itll decide if going through the pains some of them require is worth it. I'm just glad that all the covenants are viable, so to speak. There isn't necessarily one that no one in their right mind would pick. Overall super impressed with everything.

I think I missed one optional area. I got to the Dragon area and the Izalith 2.0, but I hear something about a second Firelink shrine? How do I get there? I'm in the endgame, I can start NG+, but wanna see everything first.

Where would you rank the game in the series?

DaS3 > BB > DaS1 > DaS2 > DeS

This is from the point of view of someone who doesn't really care about the story/lore much.

I think it's got the most accomplished gameplay in the series, it offers the most challenge, it's got some of the best level design (you've got fewer areas looping around to earlier areas, but the areas themselves tend to be better: bigger, more nonlinear, more shortcuts, etc.) and remains really consistent throughout (I can't think of a single area that I don't like so far, and I think I've just got one more to see). You've got a great variety of enemies and bosses...

Speaking of the bosses, I really think they knocked it out of the park with this one. You have bosses that are just outstanding challenging fights that keep you on the edge of your seat the whole way through, like Pontiff Sullivan, Soul of Cinder, the Abyss Watchers, and the Nameless King (I've yet to beat this one though :P).

You also have fights that are easier, but which still really wowed me because of the presentation, like Aldrich, Devourer of Gods, Lothric (that charged helm splitter attack that sends a shockwave across the entire room is so hype it's unreal), or the Dragon Slayer Armour. Champion Gundyr is also pretty cool, because I was expecting the same fight but then half way through he goes berserk instead of transforming and becomes super aggressive.

Then you have boss fights that rely on gimmicks like Yhorm, Wolnir, Curse-Rotted Greatwood, or the Deacons of the Deep. Those are a bit reminiscent of the DeS bosses, however they are more complex mechanically which makes them more fun to fight imho.

Finally there's the rest of the bosses that don't really do anything special but are still very well executed. I can't think of a single bad one (whereas I can for anf other game in the series).

How do you use the Dragon body? I have three pieces but I can't use any of them.

Also I really need to know how to get to second Firelink Shrine, no one will tell me. Supposedly have to go to Royal Garden but idk where that is, I'm on the JP version. Google is useless for this game.

I really think the Dark/Abyss/inner humanity, whatever you call it, is fucking evil after playing this one. Plain and simple. I always found it sketchy after playing the DLC in the first game that people tried to defend it.

Yuria is a manipulative bitch, and Londor is described as a wretched hive by a few item descriptions. She serves Kaathe, that bloody serpent asshole.

Everything related to the Abyss, and dark wants to beat the crap out of you in the game. Abyss influence is not good.

But most of all, the dark is the reason, the Abyss Watcher, one of the most selfless, and noble group of soldieirs in the series, were driven insane, forcing you to put them down. Just like Artorias.

Long story short. Screw the Dark. Screw humanity. Screw Kaathe.

Link the fire all the way,

Dark itself isn't necessarily evil. The Abyss is a twisted form of Dark, just like Chaos is a twisted form of the Fire. But yeah any Abyss related stuff is bad shit for sure.

I know i'm not crazy but did Chosen Undead/final boss really have a one-handed Kamehameha? He did right? I didn't Imagine that?

I'm at the final boss atm and I was wondering if this game does NG+ like DS1 or DS2? As in, does it dump you at the start of the game instantly, or if you get to chose when to start again?

Aldritch Faithful second covenant reward - an INT catalyst that scales A with Faith? Weird item. Like stuff from previous games but I'm hearing that early offensive spells and miracles are shit.

This game has some weird stuff in it compared to the rest.

Currently wondering:

- How does Hollowing work and how do you reverse it?
- Why does the pilgrim sorcery trainer not want to take the sorcery scrolls (oolacile, sage scrolls)? Is there another sorcery trainer?
- What does the 'drawing of power' from that npc do other than give free levels? Seems suspicious as heck.

Don't dare to read rest of the thread for spoilerz :s

There is another sorcery trainer, yes. The Hollowing and drawing of power are related. Turns out if you take those free levels you get a curse or something, and you start hollowing. You can reverse it with the purging stone looking items, but if you die you hollow again, and it gets worse with more deaths I think. It's my understanding this is all related to a secret ending, but that's all I know.

Asking again: anyone know how dragon body works in this one?

What rings are worth having on?

Also is there any blocking mechanics (not parrying) using the Farron greatsword? I see other greatswords can block by winding up an attack.

Does anyone have translations for the Soul of Embers items (armor, weapons, soul)?

Admit it, you teared up a little during the second phase of the fight :(

Well they are called Pilgrim Butterflies, the flying dragon tree thingies that animate the Armour.

When do you find this out? Also dont know if this is an existing theory, but im coming to the conclusion Priscilla used aldritch to get revenge on the gods of anor londo.

I hate how he can get out of that cage before opening it for him.

Mmmmmm hawk turns to Crystal it seems if your not standing by a white tree or next to him
Edit: also sludge things from painted world are in CoD, maybe she sent ald somehow
So queen of lothric was married to oceiros and they have a daughter called ocellote.

Wow the lightning urn heavily suggest nameless king =solaire

I think the leading theory is the Nameless King is Gwyn's actual firstborn, which explains the sun motif. But since I'm on the JP version I can't tell you why that is exactly, something about him being a god of war or something, and Nameless King / Gwyn's firstborn's name was "struck from the annals of history", so that seems pretty deliberate.

Yup that is the leading theory, but solaire being Gwyns son has always been a theory, there's no reason solaire =/= nameless king. The lightning urn says the lothrics tamed the dragons because of praising the sun, sunlight altar I'd also there.

Nameless king is Gwyn's firstborn but not Solaire, Solaire is a fan headcanon.

Queen of Lothric was Gwynevere from what the Divine Blessing item tells us.

I believe the Solaire being Gwyn's firstborn was debunked, but I don't know either way off-hand. Personally I don't like the Solaire = Nameless King theory, it doesn't make a lot of sense to me. Solaire was a good guy who liked helping people. I like the idea that Solaire was just a cool bro better.

Does DS3 explain why Gwynevere and the other gods left Anor Londo? I always suspected that without Gwyn, Seath and Gwyndolin started to act without restrictions, a possible reason why the deities left.

Queen of Lothric was Gwynevere from what the Divine Blessing item tells us.

Wasn't Gwynevere already dead in Dark Souls 1, hence the reason for the illusion? edit: Nevermind, she just left Anor Londo. If she was Oceiros' wife, I wonder what happened to her. Also where is Oceiros' daugter, Ocelette? He talks about her but I don't know.

Is there a good variety of dex weapons?

Yeah I think so, most melee weapons are more quality (str/dex), but if you want to focus on Dex you can infuse most weapons to make them scale with dex only. There's the typical selection of katanas and daggers and some cool new dual wield weapon types.
