so a bunch of fundamentally different games are getting samey?
people were falling asleep in the gb live thread
between horizon, god of war, this, uncharted, spider man... its getting really samey
devs are trying to shake it up with branded IP or different settings but this style of game is starting to wear thin
at least supermassive out there doing something new and interesting
None of those games are anything like each other..
What am i reading here.
Yeah. People are getting ridiculous.
It's the same in almost every thread. God of War, Spider-Man and Days Gone all looked generic according to some.
I don't see it.
Hide in bush to disappear from enemys, check!
Does sony have this as a clause in their 1st party games? Its popping up way to much for my liking
Samey in terms of visual quality, I guess? Because anything else makes zero sense.
I'm not this Gaf guy, but I am not feeling GoW and SOTC remake. Spiderman is ace though.
On a 2nd watch of this trailer, I've changed my mind a bit. It's not that the game is generic, the MC is generic and kinda forgettable. It's not like Joel or Nathan with a unique voice or quick jokes. Days Gone's MC is just sort of there. Idk how to explain it. I'll keep an eye on it, Bend studios is excellent. They need to release this now and then release a Syphon Filter reboot in 2019 or 2020.
This showing was completely different than last years in terms of the gameplay. I'm in. Now for a release date.

Trailer screamed walking simulator to me. Only thing the character did of note was throw a rock. Yawn.

They're all third person.
While I think it's really reductive and very ignorant stance, there's some true to it. Sony seems to bank on single player 3rd person character-oriented games. PS4 delivers fantastic and diverse games through smaller DL-able titles and with $40-tier games, but it's AAA output has been pretty much focused on a very strict model with some rare exceptions like GT Sport or MLB series. I would very much appreciate a comeback of AAA Sony FPS, a game in the vein of Halo Wars 2 or a fighting game. This is also the reason why I'm glad this year's Sony E3 output included relatively big push for VR titles.
I mean it's not probably same people but it's kinda funny that in Ubi thread you had tons of people complaining how everything is multiplayer and here we have Sony demoing bunch of different AAA single player games and the reaction is ''these look samey''. When nothing is enough.
So looking at the trailer the gameplay is almost like this:

The Waypoint guys called it Sony's house style on their recap podcast, cut from the Naughty Dog template, that's apparent in their big budget story games and how they demo. Nothing wrong with that per se, but it is a thing. What the fuck are you talking about?
I still think they would have been better off setting this game in the same universe as The Last of Us.
I think it would help the game sell more and I guarantee the buzz would be bigger. So many parts look very similar to TLoU and it wouldn't be a stretch to make this a spin off in the same universe.
Personally I'm still excited for it because I generally like zombie games and I think the hordes look cool.
My problem with this game is that, my GOD, get a new concept. There is so much untapped fantasy creatures that's zombies are SOOOO played out! At this point, it's so damn annoying I just can't. I might still play this game but I don't know. It's a damn shame the Order didn't end up being good because Werewolves, Ghosts, Ghouls, Vampires, etc are all other great things that are still just waiting to be used...ugh
No, it's a proper open world and that section from the conference was obviously a scripted linear mission. Like these conference demos always are.
As an artist who has put countless hours into polishing this open world,I can say this is 100%false.So looking at the trailer the gameplay is almost like this:

Is this sarcasm? No snark, serious question.
Is this satire? It really looks like it but I can't be sureGod this game just looks so dull. We've seen it all before.
I mean come on, it has a setting and a story, a protagonist, antagonists, conflict, tensions, actions, outcomes and probably resolutions....
Yawn.
Wake me up when we finally get something fresh and new and interesting.
Guys!!

How is this possible??GAf is the only true indicator
It looks great, before last night I was unsure about the game but the demo sold me. I'm sure many people feel that way too. Are you guys going to put out a longer demonstration during e3?As an artist who has put countless hours into polishing this open world,I can say this is 100%false.

Actually this showing gets me less optimistic. I was hoping they would show something to really distinguish the game this year but it just looks like an amalgamation of tropes. Also QTEs weren't a good look.
its been said that its an open world game. I dont know why people think otherwise.
lol
Nope. There was barely any interaction in the trailer. Most of the action came in a cutscene (the standoff). Main character choked out two dudes and threw a rock to distract somebody. Game is all flash no gameplay.
There's been an odd glut of games recently with hiding in the bushes "gameplay".
