they are.. I dont know if Ninja Gaiden is cannon for the DOA universe as well (and honest, the stories are all nonsensical shit).. but from what I gathered from Ninja Gaiden is Ryu is Dragon Clan, has the Dragon Sword and his entire village was slaughtered by the fiends, leaving only him.

Also, Code Chronus is supposed to be a Ayanne/Kasumi game similar to NG from what rumors point to. However, that has long been rumored to be a Playstation game, so perhaps that is the other DOA game headed to PS3?

Well I see Milky is now here. He indirectly had Itagaki admit Ninja Gaiden 2 was coming to 360 in one of his 1up interviews. Ask him.

But nothing is official yet. Things change. It could be multi platform for all I know. And it probably is. DoA 3 sold more than Ninja Gaiden. And if DoA4 is going multi platform, I wouldn't be surprised if Ninja Gaiden 2 is as well. It could be a storage issue too. I read Itagaki isn't happy 360 is still using DVD-9. Perhaps this is the rumored 360 game which will come out on 4 discs. Who knows. I just want my 360 Gaiden 2! If it is PS3 exclusive I'll be disappointed. One of the main reasons I bought my 360 is for Team Ninja games.

But I thought you bought it for Xbox Live - because buying it for Team Ninja games...could turn out badly...

Yeah well the two go hand in hand because Team Ninja Xbox Live support is great. Besides, I honestly didn't expect Team Ninja games to go to PS3. Other Tecmo games, yes. Team Ninja games? No. It isn't a big deal though as long as I get it for 360. If there is no 360 version, then I will be angry. Ninja Gaiden 2 is my most wanted next gen game.


Now we just need to hear Sony announce a comparable online service to live, and my allegiance doesn't always have to stay the same forever.

Team NINJA, as semi-prolific as they are, only have so many overworked, overtired employees, and while they've recently expanded their numbers, it's not so many that they could work on three, or even two games simultaneously. They brought guys working on another game in to help finish up DOA4, and I know that they have at least three 360 games in the cooker. I don't know what they've got going on, if anything, for PS3, and I don't care either way. I just like the games, not what system they're on. So the pithy comments about whether Itagaki told me or not don't really matter to me. Who knows? PS3 games are certainly possible. They did Ninja Gaiden Black with like 4 people while they were working on DOA4.

He's dispelled the rumors, which even the guys on EGM wondered about, and that's regarding whether Kasumi was going to 1) star in the next Ninja Gaiden, or 2) have her own Ninja Gaiden-like game. Ryu Hayabusa is the star of Ninja Gaiden 2, whenever they begin work on it. And knowing the next four or so games they're going to work on, I can say pretty confidently that a Kasumi Gaiden, as much as I'd like to see that, is not one of them. Not unless they suddenly added 30 guys to their staff.

The main blurb talks about how 2 more games in the DOA series are heading to 360, but in that little box it says that 2 games in the DOA series are also coming to PS3, inspite of them having said at the top of that blurb that they don't have much of an impression of Revolution or PS3 yet. There's no twisting what they actually printed, but it's certainly odd IMO. At least there's confirmation the series will be on 360, whatever happens with the PS3.

What would be the point? DOA would bomb on the PS3, IMO. There's little competiton for fighting games on the 360 so mediocre games like DOA sell well. But the PS3 would have VF5 and Tekken 6...and I think it's safe to say that both those games are better than the DOA4

Why miss out on 25% of the market when your dev costs are going through the roof?

depends on the deal. If its important enough to Sony, publisher incentives can help that.

eg if I offer you 25% off your license fee per unit to make it exclusive to PS3, that saves you the incremental cost of the X360 development and marketing, and potentially focuses you more on PS3 so Sony gets any technical advantage reinforced.

It is money hats as you say, but that goes both ways too.
