Back to the oven it's not done yet
Nintendo demoed this very early, they showed alot of 2015 stuff. Devil's third wasn't ready. Nintendo trying to sell Wii Us
It looks a bit generic and unpolished, but I think a lot of people are overstating exactly how bad it looks. It looks like your middle of the road last gen shooter, which isn't anything to gloat about, but is still a far cry from a low rent PS2 action game. Itagaki aside it's nothing worth getting hyped on, but it might help scratch an itch for action fans when they've exhausted the Platinum stuff, and honestly Wii U needs a better variety of software in genres like this, even if it's not top tier stuff.
Even a middling game can contribute to a better overall ecosystem, and with Itagaki at the helm it's possible it might even have some unforeseen redeeming qualities when all is said and done. Look at the difference between the Hyrule Warriors reveal and the most recent media. It's obviously not Nintendo caliber, but it's come a hell of a long way since the first footage. I have the sense Nintendo pushed for showing Devil's Third in a janky state versus not showing it at all because they need to pull every string possible to promote the Wii U. I'm curious how long the dev team has spent with the platform at this stage. Here's hoping the final result is more polished and appealing.
Doesn't this go against Itagaki's philosophy of only developing on the most powerful platform?
I think at this point, he's just happy that Nintendo (or anyone) is publishing it!Doesn't this go against Itagaki's philosophy of only developing on the most powerful platform?

A little surprised Nintendo is publishing.
The transition from third person cover to first person shooting is abysmal. Hope they at least fix that.Hope someone at Nintendo steps in and tells Itagaki that this game looks dull and offers advice as to how to improve it.

Even from that angle it's an odd pickup. At least Bayonetta has more of an inbuilt fanbase for the franchise and pedigree as a quality hack-and-slash, which could draw some HW sales. This on the other hand really doesn't look like it can compete against the rest of the bro-shooter pie. Does Itagaki have the type of fanbase that will buy a platform for his games and is that fanbase even particularly large these days?Well my guess is that Nintendo wants some of the bro-shooter pie to attract people to Wii U.
Money would have been better spent convincing Kojima to release MGS V and PP on Wii U as well. If Konami is releasing it on PS3/360 there's no reason why it shouldn't also be on Wii U...
Ah well... at least Nintendo is supporting a young company. I'm just afraid this is going to die a brutal death at retail and Valhalla won't be any better off for having made it Wii U exclusive.

I want to remain optimistic. This is the man that was at the helm for Ninja Gaiden, but this looks very rough... I hope this releases late 2015 and give this more time in the oven.
The story is a non issue to me, but the gameplay looked lacking polish.
Does this game still have multiplayer?
I'm always happy for new Wii U exclusives but thought the trailer was trying too hard to check every "adult game" mark, from the rocket launchers, scantily clad ladies, ultraviolence, and even a swig of booze at the end. It won't be high on my radar but will keep on eye on the review scores.
I guess that's how the cookie crumbles eh, Itagaki?
Itagaki left Tecmo in 2008/2009 to form his own studio. As far as I know this is the only game they've been working on.What state was DT in when THQ went bankrupt?
you people are too harsh.
Isn't this the game Itagaki mortgaged his house to buy back the rights from THQ?
He and his team seem to have a lot of faith in it.
Hiring Itagaki makes sense because the same crowd that wants Bayonetta is likely to play a good action game from him. DT doesn't look even remotely good, but maybe it'll get better.
I imagine it wasn't Itagaki's choice to the show the game in its current state. Also, I wonder if porting to a new console/new engine has caused trouble for the original design. Will stay interested because I like some pulpy, ultravoilent jank. And I like the idea of a shooter with a proper melee combat system. But yeah. Bad preview.
If this is supported in a usable manner, I'm there day one, lack of polish be dammed. Not expecting it though.I wonder who we can talk to in order to get them to add the remote and nunchuck as a control option....
Eh, actually this looks like a pretty decent rental.Gamespot footage for those who haven't seen it.

It's much better than the IGN demo.
Along with The Wondeful 101, Zelda Musou, and initially the Ninja Gaiden 3 update. It's strange how a lot of people are saying character action games are becoming more and more niche while Nintendo seems to be outwardly trying to appeal to this audience.
