It'll probably never be as good as Xbone's upscaler where 720p doesn't matter because it still looks incredible when upscaled to 1080p. Truthfact.

Can You point me where? Because i've skimmed through the whole video twice and except for 0:40 [PS4 advantage] and 1:10 [Xbone advantage] moments, the difference between two platforms is between 2-4 fps max.
Joking!
Thruthiness means ignoring objective evidence, and relying on what you want to be true. Perfect for those who think the Xbone version looks better.
I'd say that 45%less pixels, lack of hbao, no AA, no volumetric clouds and possibly missing ambient lighting is indeed representing the gap in power. I never thought that what I'm seeing right now would be possible at launch. But I like gaf these days... bargaining everywhere.
A: no.
Digital Foundry and their screwed up contrast/sharpness for the Xbox One version has deluded many. If this was their intent, then bravo. A job well done.
No AA solution. 720p. And framerates are still worse. Unbelievable that three months ago, nobody really expected a 30%+ difference at launch, on third party software. If Ghosts is truly 1080p versus 720p, with AA and framerate results like this...
500 dollars. Crazy.
Evidence!? Who the hell needs evidence when we got opinions. Also, it's all about that custom upscaler + sound chip combo. Get it right. ;PThis is history in the making, guys. After the sound chip bullshit xbox fans just discovered their latest silly talking point. Misterxmedia is probably updating his page as we speak, it's all about upscalers now even though there's little to no evidence.
I've gamed on the PS3 this whole generation (never had a gaming PC) and I'm not cool with jaggies at all, they've bugged me throughout the gen.
Though I suppose you meant average guy on the street gamer versus GAF extremist.
Pretty much. Most people have no idea how to judge image quality. Though to be fair, before I learned about it I too used to think more saturation and crushed black = better.
We'll also see this kind of comments after CoD comparisons. Reality is too much for some.
Agreed. It's like you killed their puppy or something. You simply aren't allowed to prefer the XB1 over the PS4 or you will be insulted, called a shill or have people looking into your post history being cyber detectives.
I'm with u, in those gifs the XB1 version looks better. In real life it may be a different story.
Difference between High and Medium settings is much bigger than just HBAO. Its LOD, Lighting, Particles count, Decals, Textures, Geometry, Shadows etc.
And i was expecting that.
This is a pretty damn bizarre thread. Was there this much denial when comparing 360>PS3 multiplat differences? There probably was. Maybe it is just neogaf business as usual. I mean this already a bigger difference than almost any multiplat on current gen...
What is this nonsense?
So if somebody has an opinion that is different from the norm, it's because they want it to be true?
I've a PS4 pre-ordered and have no intention of buying an Xbone, why would I want to prefer how the Xbone version looks? To me, PS4 version looks too blurry, and that alone negates some of the PS4's advantages.

Im surprised the PS4 version doesnt look way better. They are pretty close besides the PS4 being 900p, maybe its because the X1 uses a better hard ware upscaler, just like 360 did.
Yes, it has all that, which makes it technically better than the Xbone version. But it's also hella blurry so most of that is lost - I can't even make some of the textures out.
I'm surprised to see people comparing the two frame rates and stating there isn't much between them while conviently forgetting the resolution drop required for the XO to compete.
Youtube Comment.
Is this idiot for real?
Haha, don't act like everyone in here is just pointing out that there's a difference in gamma levels and whatnot is doing so rationally and calmly. Hell, even if everyone else was, you still blew a massive gasket over it.Calling everyone that is trying to point out that it is just some fucked up gamma that makes the XB look like that "salt"ty shows you are the one heavily invested in all this!
Hey, that's great.I agreed with you though.
I love it when my games look like a cheese grater.
Ha ha, the Beats by Dre comparison is one of the best I've seen yet. Actually made me laugh. You're exactly right, it is JUST like that. These last few pages are amazing, bravo
This whole thing reminds me of EQ settings on Beats by Dre headphones, it's really interesting. I'm surprised nobody has tried to sell "premium texture packs" DLC or something of the sort that just messes with the game's contrast/saturation settings and puts an instagram filter over the whole thing.
In any case, even if the XB1 port looks objectively worse in every metric compared to the PS4 version, the fact is for a lot of people it looks "good enough". If they find the xbone version unacceptable in terms of resolution or aliasing, I don't know if they'd be happy with the PS4 version either.
Of course it's blurry, and will always be, it's upscaled with post-AA.It's NOT blurry with the right settings, we have proof of that.
It's the most recent talking point in a proud series of talking points. (Which are, one has to note, getting increasingly more desperate)Youtube Comment.

How about not basing your opinion on these gifs then because people explained over and over again that its bad footage from DF and watch some other videos some people were posting?
PS4 version looks significantly better overall. The real question left unanswered is which one works better online.
Just thought i would give my 2 cents.
They both look shit.
I'm a casual salesmen at a pretty big electronics retailer here in Aus, way more people prefer the oversaturated piece of crap demo we have running on our Sharp models than the excellent 4k Sony demos
I agreed with you though.
I love it when my games look like a cheese grater.
PS4 has better texture, you just can't see it because of the blur.
videogamer.com said:But while the Xbox One version effortlessly maintains the same frame-rate, the image quality is perceptibly worse, sporting a softer, jaggier look that carries all the hallmarks of a game upscaling from a sub full-HD resolution.
polygon.com said:The Xbox One version of Battlefield 4 is currently rendering at 1280x720, while the PS4 is natively rendering at 1600x900. As a result, the PS4 version is somewhat sharper than the Xbox One release.
This!
I'm at work. I saw the images posted and based my opinion on those. Hence I said I haven't seen them properly yet in terms of full screen video.
Has DF ever been accused of releasing "bad footage" before? Or is this all convenient now? I've not really seen one of their breakdowns.
Distance view changes is visible are the little rocks at the left and LOD changes are visible in the big rock at right

Yeah, I don't think the PC versions presets are applicable here.Yeah, there is slight LOD difference on those two. Its not Medium to High settings difference though, otherwise all other elements would be affected.
