fuck. DF is saying this will most likely have a jaguar cpu.
No point having 6TF GPU and 320GB/s bandwidth if a lightweight Jaguar CPU is feeding them.Digital Foundry saying the Scorpio is likely to use a version of the Jaguar CPU sounds crazy

This is going to end badly for the xbox division imo.
1. XB2 will cost significantly more than NEO for questionable gains (worsening CPU-GPU imbalance + every dev will be targeting vanilla PS4 as base)
2. The target audience of XB2 overlaps with the PC crowd, and the sharing of exclusives is only going to entice them to go full PC instead.

8 cores make all signs pointing to everything else.
Do you know how huge, hot and power hungry 8 Zen cores would be?
Digital Foundry saying the Scorpio is likely to use a version of the Jaguar CPU sounds crazy, surely a Zen CPU is more likely.
The Scorpio is going to be a flagship for the Xbox brand, I think its going to be more expensive than people expect.
Digital foundry wasting no time in getting some hits....
In what way is it limited to the original Xbox One? Care to explain?
Very wrong. Xbox division is actually enlarging their target audience with the PC audience by this move. Income comes mostly from software than hardware.
So what's the betting say?
$600 plus VR kit? $700 seems a stretch.
with Microsoft utilising the top-tier parts available from hardware partner AMD - technology we've yet to see fully revealed in the PC space.
No point having 6TF GPU and 320GB/s bandwidth if a lightweight Jaguar CPU is feeding them.
What exactly does this mean? Sounds like there's more to this than mere Teraflops.

It will basically be a xbox one game with better res and framerate. The graphics will stay the same
How did Rise of the Tomb Raider do on PC?
Are PC enthusiasts really going to embrace the Windows Store and UWP apps console like restrictions?
I'm not so sure.
with over 4 times the performance on gpu alone ? i highly doubt it
Vega isn't expected to be released to consumers until ~Q4 2016.
Yea Vega seems to be it. I can't imagine it using a Jaguar CPU though. Almost makes zero sense.
It's because the CPU will bottleneck it if it's still using jaguar.
Doesn't really matter if the games are not made that GPU in mind. PC GPUs already have over 4 times the performance of PS4 or Xbox One and yet the biggest differences in multiplatform games are resolution, AA and framerate. The base game is still relatively same.with over 4 times the performance on gpu alone ? i highly doubt it

I'm not so sure.
What VR are you including in that price ? google cardboards ?
Uncompressed pixels I guess it was a mistake and the guy meant uncompressed textures.
Glad other people noticed they referred to both SoC and GPU when mentioning 6TF. Still waiting for MS statement to see what they actually meant.
Personally you don't generally mistakenly say SoC when you mean GPU
Are PC enthusiasts really going to embrace the Windows Store and UWP apps console like restrictions?
Haha.
None.
I said $600 plus VR meaning - plus the price of VR kit whatever that might be.
Ah, Grassflops... something I can wrap my head around!
Scorpio is for the PS4/X1 grass difference is huge and meme worthy while the difference between PC and PS4 is meh crowd.
Even if they partner with Oculus or at a stretch the Vive the total price would be well over $1k at current head set prices. Its nuts.
figured as much
Lol that's a fair pointIt doesn't really matter. The CPU is insignificant in this calculation.
Fuck 4K. Let me play at 1080p with super graphics.
It's not about power, it's about games. And on that ground I'm still not feeling Microsoft one bit.
It will basically be a xbox one game with better res and framerate. The graphics will stay the same

YepI truly think Microsoft is turning this around with play anywhere games and clearly they have a clear vision and learned from the first reveal. The conference was the best by far and Sony's one was middcore and with first titles with release date announce mostly getting delayed as usual and with the Crash remaster troll made everything worse.
Not just about power but there's a clear vision.
The Neo is the "PS4S", the real upgrade will come further down the line
BELIEVE

Well the entire unveil of hw was pretty nauseating and devoid of any information, so that's pretty Trump as well.ChryZ said:"we can render fully uncompressed quality pixels... the best quality pixels", that's so Trump ...
As I said in the other thread, is Scorpio 4K or bust or will they let game developers target full HD with melt your mind graphics?

Good on MS for doing what they think they need to do. Sadly for them they don't have the games that I want to play.
I would have still bought a PS4 over the Xbox had the power gap been reversed because at the end of the day I go where the games I want to play are. The same reason I will buy Nintendo's new machine.

That said, DF is very, very wrong about their assessment of 4k.
How many terraflops for the current PS4 CPU?
None.
6 tf is the total of the system, including CPU.
It is not a 6TF GPU
