They shouldn't have put the texture sliders on low before capturing this shot.

I mean compared to Ryse direct feed. I'll edit my comment

It could be taken from a Youtube video, which has ugly compression.

You can say that about any game, including Tetris. Still care about performance though, especially in a new gen.

Especially when you are plunking down that amount of money.

5 years down the line, on Black Friday, for $200 and a few games is a different matter.

maybe they wrote something wong in the press releases..? not "more than 1000 zombies", but "more than a 1000 jaggies"..?

I actually thought the AA solution looked fairly good for a console game.

Disappointing, but still looks to be the most fun next gen launch game.

Its like GTA5 with better graphics and a load of zombies, not bad for a launch game.

I hope for the sake of X1 owners that devs can maintain at least a locked 30fps.

Should be a given for PS4 games, I dont want a repeat of this gen,I'am looking at you Rockstar.

Like GTAV you say, do please post up a comparison.

So of the XB1 exclusives

DR3 - 720p, framerate from 10-30fps
Forza 5 - 1080p ui (gameplay may not be), 60fps
Ryse - 900p, 30fps

And these are the games that were optimized for the system.

Wow. I always took the pixelated 720p GIF's as an overblown joke. But the images in this thread all are either pixelated or blurry as hell...

I don't know what to think anymore :/

Today we are believing Digital Foundry right?

In other news...they should of delayed this game if it's hitting that low like that. It'll still be fun for people, but that's piss poor to have it dip that low. The X1 has plenty of games at launch coming.. should of delayed this one.

Lol no it doesn't. The facial animation is absolutely horrible in NBA 2K14, total immersion killer. Also Ryse is 30fps locked, no framerate issues there.
I've seen frame drops in the super HQ videos of Ryse released earlier last week. It's pretty solid with keeping the 30FPS, but for example, when your guy jumps over that wooden structure in the siege video, and the arrows are flying towards the bridge he's about to walk on, you can see frame drops clear as day.

Of course we all want the best performance. That is stating the obvious. I'm simply saying that it still looks like a fun game to me and I want to play it. I enjoy many games with flaws. That's it.

I am not trying to make an excuse. I simply think that it will be a fun game, despite the resolution and framerate.

Super Mario is still a fun game besides it's resolution and framerate. What's the insight here exactly? This thread is a thread dedicated to tech, so please stay away with those "but itz all ze gameplay that countz!!!111". There are plenty of great and fun games worth our time which run with great framearate and native resolution. Gameplay and great tech do NOT suspend each other. Plesase understand.

Does not look great, they should have kept it on the 360 like it was intended. MS have said they are still supporting the 360 for a few years but they pull this game... which would have people keeping their 360s to play it.

Regarding the screenshots ... I liked this one the best ...

Try watching the actual video,

Its quite funny how someone has cherry pciked that imagine when a few seconds later a much better texture loads.

They were probably highlighting how the textures load into the world, something that they covered quite heavily in the article.

Vs DR2 PC

I think this games 360 roots are starting to show

DR2 on PC looks very clean. Looks like you are comparing generations almost.

It is a thread about I game I am interested in, so I'll chime in all I want. All I said is that at least it still looks fun, despite the technical issues. If that bothers you, then oh well. That's your problem.

Why does this even matter to most people commenting on this thread. Aren't you already getting a PS4???

Yep, I am getting a PS4.... but I also plan on getting an XBone later on. I have put this title from a possible purchase to a rental..... maybe, I might skip this title entirely.

Believe? Can't dispute real test results.

Well, you are not just chiming in, you are being an apologist. We have those in every thread as soon as we talk about technical shortcomings. We really don't need it in a thread which foucses on tech.

Maybe they were,

it would have been better to do a gif or put a 2nd pic showing the loaded texture.

People are using that picture now as if that is what loaded textures look like.

It seems the person who originally posted that pic is trying to make the game seem worse then it actually is?

So Gameplay > resolution, and now fun > framerate.

Absolutely? I'm sure people would rather have top of the line graphics and stellar resolution/frame rate, but at the end of the day, I play games to have fun. Can poor technical performance impede on a game's fun factor? Yes. Should we lambaste developers who put out games in this state? Definitely. But if a game ain't pretty to look at, and its far from a technical darling, but is still fun to play - then it's not the end of the world for me. I'd rather play something like Earth Defense Force or Deadly Premonition, which are technical messes but a damned good time, than something like Crysis 3 which is technically lights out but about as fun as chipping rocks.

I am not apologizing for shit, buddy. I fully acknowledge the issues and never disputed them. I simply said that it is fortunate that it still looks like a fun game. Nothing more.

So DF is back in good graces with GAF? Game looked fun during the Giant Bomb play thru. Who knows, resolution doesn't matter to me but crappy frame rate drives me nuts.

SECONDS later. And the texture loads in really obviously.

These are not good things. These are not problems Dead Rising 1 had.

It's not like you'd blink and miss that horrible texture. Its taking way too long to load in. Anything that ugly that lasts for a few seconds should be highlighted, especially if its a common problem.

You did what? Your post was:

Yeah, it's a launch title. But fortunately it's one that still looks fun as hell.

That's are TWO apologies in ONE post. This is stuff that could be straight from MS PRs dept., just worded differently.

I can´t believe MS and Xbox allows this to be sold in it´s current state. Sony at least had the guts to delay one of their games when it was not ready to be launched.

Yes a strong launch line up was one of the few advantages they had with potential buyers but seeing the performance of this game they should have pulled it regardless.

I am no fan of the series but would this have been the case on any of mine I would have canceled on the spot just to send a message that this should not be acceptable.

Dead Rising has always been a slapstick zombie game, that is fun to just mess around with. I will get it just to have some cheap fun. Never expected it to be a system seller or a generation defining game.

This is absolutely atrocious. The performance.... the visuals. It literally looks like something that could have been done on last gen with relative similar performance. Hell GTA looks better than this and performs about the exact same.

Ugh. Dreams shattered of finally playing a DR game on console with good performance.

Still going to marathon the shit out of this on launch day but this is a major letdown.

Just watched the three minute frame rate test.

When they are driving through groups of zombies the frames don't drop but as soon as they use like the flamethrower or even turn a corner it drops to 22-24 frames.

And it drops to 18 later on and that just sucks.

I don't really care what you say on here but if you come in to a thread where people are discussing the tech behind a game and you diminish what they say and their discussion of it you are going to get ruffle some feathers. You are basically coming in here and telling them who cares about the shortcomings that you are discussing (you know the topic at hand) it'll be fun. There are plently of other threads where you can talk about how fun DR3 will be.

Hopefully you and the other people buying it will enjoy it. I will not waste my money on a substandard game. Especially not at full price

It's also unfortunate that the game runs at far from the promised locked 30fps - rather a chugging 20fps during the zombie action while out in the big city.

Most disappointing bit for me :(

will still play it at some point but pretty much expected the framerate to be ass

you won't

It depends on the story and the reviews. I liked the RPG elements of Dead rising but wasn't a fan of the building weapons part. Didn't do anything for me in DR2 or Dead island and doesn't win me over for the new stuff. I have been keeping an eye peeled to how things are handled and I am going to base my choice off of reviews because I have a large backlog, several consoles and a PC to play on. I have no qualms about skipping a title entirely.

I probably won't.... I have poor self control

I am not being an apologist for merely stating that the game looks fun, despite the issues. And oh no! I must surely work for Microsoft because I am interested in one of their games. Good thing they did not fire me for all of the venom I have spewed at them over the past year.

At any rate, if you want to talk tech so much, why are you wasting your time dragging the conversation further off topic over me simply saying the game looks fun? Sorry if it bothers you that some people can acknowledge the game having problems, while still having interest in playing it. With that, I am done indulging you and your obvious issues with that.

Good day.

Listen, I never disputed the issues. I just said the game still looks fun. Apologies if that ''ruffles your feathers."

Hot damn that is attrocious... Still looks fun though. Could have used some more time in the cooker. Still my most awaited game this next gen launch though.
