Digital Foundry vs. Dead Rising 3

He has to enjoy taking this shit to write those posts in the first place.

Exactly, it might seem like the Gifmakers are beating on a dead horse, but Sen and Kayle just keep on posting, what do you expect them to do?

Also detective GAF strikes again. It's funny how the goal posts keep moving for these guys who seem to need to justify their purchases or something. There's nothing wrong with having an opinion, but if you are constantly flip flop around, they're gonna catch you!

Dissapointing, the original Dead Rising was one of the first next-gen games that made me salty, back in the day. I bet it's fun, but that performance is bad.

Nice GIF but the correct way to depict low framerate in GIF's is to actually drop/skip frames so that it looks like a claymation animation, or this:
qb4Bish.gif

that GIF is running at way less than 30 fps anyway. It's just the graph and framecounter you can rely on at that point. but yes, if that looks like an acceptable frame rate to you in that GIF, enjoy the final game.

I wish I would be able to.

I see the frame counter and how low it drops. Considering the replies in here, I thought it would be a damn slide show.

It's certainly *not* acceptable considering the price of entry and the hardware but by no means is it unplayable.

I don't think the developer is very technically competent. All Dead Rising 2 associated titles were ugly and ran very poorly.

We all know the Xbox One has issues, but I'm sure it's more capable than what this game is pushing.

I'm disappointed in the DF results, but I have to shake my head at all the people jumping on this now and acting like it's a consistent 10FPS unplayable mess.

Go watch this and then come back and say that: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haq8FAK4ysk

Unplayable to me.

This video is full of frame drops. It's not so easy to see when he's walking around, but when he's lunging at zombies with those super powered gloves and rotating the camera... it's pretty horrible.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=haq8FAK4ysk#t=157

when he's on the motorbike... it's apparent everywhere.

Sure, but there are limits. him being tagged can called out by coldfoot was enough, the gifs are just overkill and both will likely be used against him in every single thread he now posts in.

Agreed. I'm not believing anything until we see a final reviewable copy, and I mean DAY ONE reviewable with whatever patch they push on us. Xbox One requires an internet connection to even use the very first day, so I'm assuming many of these developers were giving themselves the extra time after a game usually goes gold to finish last minute optimizations. I think I may wait on impressions the very first day before buying this, though.

Fingers crossed. I need this to deliver, I'd hate for the series to die before it's had a proper chance to flourish on next gen tech...

He's never going to address this is he?

What's there to address? People change their minds. If this is acceptable for him then so be it. He's ok with dealing with the frame rate considering how fun this game looks. I'll pick this up to because it looks like a blast.

There shouldn't be frame rate issues considering how powerful the console is but there is. Every one knows the console if behind in regards to dev tools. He can either shit on it like everyone else or accept that this game's frame rate sucks.

Dead Rising 3 is another game I think looks pretty damn awesome, too. It's only issue is the framerate, but it's got a lot going on I think it's a very good looking game. Great lighting, solid textures, very packed and busy environments, lots of zombies on screen, open world, no loading times etc. But of course all of this becomes far less impressive if they can't fix the framerate.

I hope the stuff about the clock speed update on the CPU and the focus they seem to be placing on stable frame-rates hold true, because literally nothing would be more annoying than iffy framerate in games.

Today:
For the action and sheer number of enemies I saw on screen, the framerate is more than acceptable.

Guys I'm only giving crap to Senjutsu because he's on the wrong path. He could have said, yes it sucks and I'm pissed about it but I'd still enjoy the game and I'd understand. Framerate, ugly textures, 720p aside, DR3 STILL looks like a game I would like to play at some point. Not shitting on the game, but seriously this spin has to stop.

I am jealous of people who find games that regularly go sub 25 fps playable. I was jealous of everyone who enjoyed Shadow of the Colossus. I was jealous of everyone who enjoyed GTA4 on consoles (and I tried man, I really tried, in both of those cases.) By the time Castlevania Lords of Shadow rolled around, I knew not to waste my time.

If this game gets great reviews I will be completely happy for all of you who got to enjoy it. But I'll be waiting in the hope that one day, as happened with Ocarina of Time (which I first tried to play shortly after Wind Waker came out) that eventually a version of this game will come out with a framerate that doesn't completely undermine my ability to enjoy a game.

I haven't finished Dead Rising 2, because my PC struggles with it for some reason, compared to like, pretty much every other multiplatform game out there that it has no issues with. I loved Dead Rising. Loved it.

lol, I am not even disagreeing with you here, but when you see such an example of self-contradiction given SenjetsuSage's own aspiration for rational argument, you can hardly take this post of his as a serious opinion on the subject. You reap what you sow.

Which I thought the tag and quotes did perfectly. I wouldn't have taken it to the next step with gifs, especially knowing that they'd follow him through every single threads for potentially months.

That's just me though.

Is that what they were complaining about regarding that gif?

Either way, never question the strength of a zombie.

The frame-rate drops are what people are complaining about. The death grip was something I just noticed...

Garbage in, Garbage out.

Jesus Christ.

Yeah, if it releases like this then the Dead Rising franchise will be dead. That would seriously suck.

One would hope that even if it does end up a technical mess and doesn't sell to projections, that MS or at least Sony/Nintendo would see the benefits in funding a fourth title..

Hell, I'm sure Capcom's finances can't be in that bad a shape that they couldn't afford to fund a fourth game. Do it internally on the MT FW engine to save a few bucks if need be...

Thank you for this reply. Honestly. If you legitimately can't stand it then avoid it at all cost. This game has frame rate issues, no doubt about that. I would like a constant 60fps on every game with but the tool aren't there yet. From the videos I've seen, it's playable for me.

While I agree with you that it borders on bullying (and I am light-heartedly sorry for that SenjetsuSage ;-), I can't also ignore that posting this statement given his history, his former statements and the context of the statement also borders on trolling. I don't believe for a second that SenjetsuSage was not aware of the reaction he would get.

PS: I edited the GIF to reflect the context more clearly. :-P

Maybe a 4th game would happen, but it would be a long time before it came out. The series would have to be rebooted completely I think. All that said, I still think the game won't release in the state DF is saying it's in.

Oh come on. The dude goes out of his way to spin more than every Albert Penello post on this forum combined almost every post he makes. Let's just call this what it is, he tripped up and got caught.

Glass half empty. Glass half full, my man. Nothing wrong with being on either side but there's also nothing wrong with being on both.

You have nothing to apologize for. This is all lighthearted in nature, no one is bullying him. He tends to make outrageous/contradictory statements to garner attention, well now he got it.

Today:

LOL!

Fucking hilarious considering that Amirox just beat his ass down and calling him out on claims of defending every negative thing about the Xbox One on top of spinning ridiculous claims by MS PR the other day.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=89285677&postcount=509

And Sage pulled the "too much effort to write something to defend myself but the claims that i'm a fanboy aren't true" card.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=89334514&postcount=811

And what do you know, not more than a couple of days later he is here defending 720p, sub 20fps after previous claims and getting exposed for the 217th time.

I honestly thought the framerate of Shadow of the Colossus on PS2 enhanced the game. It helped make it feel like the ground was shaking whenever the larger colossi moved. Was kind of sad they made it stable on PS3.
