Dissidia Final Fantasy ARCADE ANNOUNCED! [Update: Trailer + Info]

Basing a character's appearance on Gackt is something.

Giving his actual appearance and voice to someone is another matter entirely.

I want this game to get a port, thank you.

I'm just giving ya a hard time, but honestly I don't see him being in the game would affect the chances of a port/localization much.

Wasn't Gackt the basis of a few characters like Squall? He's technically already been in it lol.
Actually Squall was based on River Phoenix.

I meant that literally. Back in the PSP days my friends would argue that characters like Sora didn't belong in Dissidia, which I'm sure some folks would agree with. I just think they'd work well within the mechanics of the Dissidia games.
Mechanics-wise I guess, but they'd need to be heavily redesigned to fit with the Amano-ish artstyle of Dissidia.

I could seem them fitting in more with the PSP games as the characters were slightly more cartoony there in comparison to the new character models. And the Gackt/Squall thing I was kidding around with, that's been a rumor for the longest lol.

Say that to Crisis Core =P

But seriously, they need to keep things that would create trouble for a port out of this game. I like Genesis and I do wonder how he would play, but not at that risk =X

I imagine pretty similar to Sephiroth, which I'd be fine with. Just curious, what region are you in? Crisis Core was released in NA but not anywhere else?

The luminous engine dev team was folded into the FF15 team, hence KH3 went UE4. This is FF14's engine i think...

If I'm not mistaken not long ago in an interview the Luminous Studio said the team is working on different projects using that engine. So this could be it. Or maybe UE4. I Don't think this looks like ARR engine at all sincerely, plus it's not tailored for fighting games anyway and was custom-created for one specific reason and project: FF14.

CC never got a digital release nor any rerelease after CC shipped. I don't think there was even a "international" version of the game.

High chances are that it's because of Gackt giving his appearance and voice for one of the main characters.

Same thing with Dirge of Cerberus, where not only he composed two songs for the game, but also appeared as Genesis in a live action video at the end of the game (although, it's for the best that DoC stays on the PS2).

would so buy this game... but next to no chance that they would release this in a normal form on consoles... would be some fucked up f2p-game :(

If Square Enix is adding a villain from XIV, I'd love it to be Nael Van Darnus.

If Nael is in, do you think SE would use his/her new body?

Old body please. That T9 monster isn't even
the real Nael, just a "doll" with his memories and a sex-changed body just for Bahamut's lulz.

They still seem fairly close, if you go by the KH3 style.

Possibly, even if
Nael's current form is a reflection of someone else's body
, it could fall under the same criteria as Ultimecia's Edea skin and Exdeath's Soul recolour.

Was Auron in any of the previous one's?

I think you could use his portrait, but he didn't appear in any meaningful capacity.

I don't get why Nael's new "form" is a woman's. Some people say that it may have been based on Bradamante (the unseen character who is also the namesake of Nael's gunhalberd). It's still just an unconfirmed speculation, though.

As cool as this I can't get excited unless there is some form of a console/handheld version of the game. I love Final Fantasy, and I mean I really love Final Fantasy, but the existence of an arcade machine in Japan does nothing for me.

Please Square Enix, bring it to consoles.

And have a beautiful collector's edition.

That makes me think, if they plan on including Noctis and each hero will have an opposing villain, who will be Noctis, We still don't know much regarding the villains of FFXV, nor who would be a fitting "rival" to Noctis. I'm wondering if, in the coming year, we'll eventually get a stream of info detailing the characters of the game to the point that a FFXV villain appearing in this game will feel right.

They didn't really give each hero an opposing villain in 012. At the end of the day, there are more heroes to draw on than villains in the franchise.

Yeah Lightning didn't have an opposing villain. I wonder if that will eventually be
Cid Raines
or if they'll skip straight to
Caius Ballad
.

If he's in it at all, it could be a situation similar to Duodecim's treatment of XIII, with only one representative. Or they could omit him entirely, but considering the likelihood of multiple revisions even before a console release with a potential DLC schedule, I doubt that's the case, unless XV really isn't coming out until 2017.

Perhaps they'll just go straight to
Hope. It'd probably be a better idea than using a character with no presence in the original XIII.

I think this is the closest Clouds been to his original appearance. I love it. Though the previous Dissidias were great for him (in the CG cutscenes anyway. In game model was kinda eh).

His features don't seem more feminine though.
The style and color of the game is just softer. His eyes also look really cool.

So excited for this game!!

Went back to Duodecim after this, I never beat the first game's story in the second one.

I don't know why, but I love the addition of the world map in this game.

Anyway, I wonder if there will be new mechanics that will stop characters like Cloud or Onion Knight from linking a BRV attack into an HP attack.

I always thought that giving a very small window to dodge the last hit would work well.

Arcade hopefully means they'll get rid of leveling and equipment mechanics. I think I'd have enjoyed Dissidia more if it had been rooted more in the fighting game and less in the RPG genre.

Would love if they at least provide a setting or game mode that gets rid of equipment.

Ideally, there wouldn't be equipment to worry about at all in the main mode of play. Can't imagine there'd be a way to balance that kind of thing for an arcade environment at all.

They can save that kind of stuff for its own mode in the console version, where it can ideally be one of the attractions for potential buyers (along with the likes of the obligatory story mode and etc.).

The only thing that is upsetting is that there is no Vita anywhere near this announcement.

The models look great but it the realistic lighting doesn't gel well with the cartoony graphics... still, the gameplay looks gorgeous already.

Please port ASAP

So, what are the chances for mah fav Lulu to get in? Low, right? ... :(

Way low, I'd say. If they're going to do a 'modern FF' black mage move set character it'll almost certainly be Vivi, and in terms of FFX characters I reckon they'd probably go for Auron and Rikku both first after Tidus and Yuna, assuming all previous Dissidia characters are in.

The more FF games release, the less chance there is for supporting characters to appear in the game. They obviously want to appease the entire catalog of mainline games and there are only so many characters you can dedicate time to.

Figures..

I think on the X list, she is on the bottom part along with Kimahri. Unless they decide to put every main cast in the roster (lol as if), her chances are very slim, unfortunately.

But they could always try and use her mastery over dolls for something

If they follow the precedent set by Aerith in 012 (hopefully without being bundled with a paid demo), they might appear as assist characters. With one for each entry, I don't think Lulu's chances are that low.
