Did they ever stop making new games? Can we please not do any more remasters? I want original games, not games I already played.
They should do a complete remaster of Mario 64.
I would jump for joy and I'm not usually one to go for remasters if it's a game I've already played.
I always had this theory that Mario Sunshine was designed with motion controls in mind. I mean, they were working on a motion controller for GameCube, but at the time the tech wasn't ready, it was too expensive and added too much lag. And there were rumors that the GameCube was going to have special controls, and when they first revealed Sunshine they wouldn't say what that pack on Mario's back was - they said it was top secret. They also had Luigi's Mansion, another game that looks like it could have had the exact same kind of motion control, and it's been revealed was also a test case for stereoscopic 3D.
Anyways, my point is this: how about a Mario Sunshine remake using those original, lost motion controls as an option, using Wii Remote and Nunchuk?

I disagree and it's still an amazing game. Maybe the most original in its setting too.Sunshine is the worst of the 3D Mario games, so they most likely will.

I certainly hope so.
I'd much rather see an HD Mario 64 or Galaxy.
yup
it's been too long since I played Mario 64. I might not even have 100% it
The other Mario games have tropical islands as well as about 10 other locales.
And yet there still isn't a grand scale free roaming 3D Mario that has been announced.WWHD took a very short amount of time and a small number of people to develop. The impact that a new remake would have on other games in development would be non existent.
Majora's Mask is acceptable since it's a 15 year old classic at the end of the N64 lifespan, meaning a lot of people haven't played it. Sunshine is widely not considered a classic and Galaxy is only seven years old and has been re-released as part of Nintendo Selects.Did they ever stop making new games?
I've never played Majora's Mask. Keep them coming.
I remember when I totally misread information and thought the "Throwback Galaxy" from SMG2 meant that collecting every star unlocked a full SM64 remake... d'oh
I've played SMG1/2 with a controller. It's not 100% ideal, but it's not a big deal. Of course Nintendo would have to adjust some stuff to make SMG work perfectly on the gamepad, mainly just increasing auto-aim and the window for grabbing items such as Yoshi's, or star bits go automatically to Mario from even farther way.
So basically you suggest dumbing down the controls so they stay playable with the old style controllers? There is a reason why Nintendo came up with the Wiimote in the first place, because they wanted to improve control methods to enable new gameplay.
They have to do SOMETHING for Super Mario 30th, and Mario Maker is not enough.
I really don't like Sunshine (that final boss fight is probably the worst I've ever played in any game, and they really made it difficult for themselves with the Fludd gimmick, and the vacation theme), BUT..
...IF Super Mario 3D All-Stars is a November release, including a full remake of Super Mario 64, and HD remasters of Sunshine, Galaxy and Galaxy 2, I'd love that. But as a stand-alone release? No thanks.
I find the use of the pointer mostly superfluous in SMG, so I personally wouldn't care if they "dumb it down." 99% of the time it would boil down to picking up random starbits (which you do by chucking the wiimote like a maniac anyway, so not much difference from chucking the right stick like a maniac). Spin is easily mapped to any button. The special levels that require to use the wiimote as a joystick...well, they play just fine using an actual analog stick. The game is playable just fine as-is on a controller, seriously.
Not like this is gonna happen anyway, despite being easy money for Nintendo. It's strange how they ported so many SNES games to the GBA way back when, but they aren't interested in doing that again this time around.
I don't, and it's less effective anyway. You also can attack enemies with star bits, auto aim would be a considerable dumb down for that.
Pointing controls in Galaxy are brilliant because you actually form a habit of doing two things at once, controlling Mario up close and influencing the surroundings far away from him. No way that would work as intuitively with double analogue. Puppeteer kinda proves that as well.
Puppeteer tries to mix player character controls with pointer controls much like SMG did and fails with both approaches, DS3 analogue and Move. I think it's a perfect reference for people like me who didn't play SMG on emulator with a standard controller.Puppeteer sucks ass all around, it's pointless that you keep bringing it up.
And no, it doesn't work as well, because the game as I'm playing it was designed for the wiimote and I'm using a controller in its stead, but all things considered, it's really decent. I've finished SMG2 on nothing but a DS3 controller. Based on my experience I have zero doubt that these games can be adapted to the Wii U without control issues. And, of course, they can always have the option of using the traditional wiimote/nunchuck controls.
And personally, I almost never bothered hitting enemies with starbits, either when I played SMG2 on a Wii or in an emulator.
They remade Wind Waker. I don't think they're concerned with how the graphics hold up haha. Both Sunshine and Galaxy aged well in visuals department. Nintendo shouldn't spend resources on remaking them, let them focus on new projects and HD remakes of games that were actually being hurt by times (TLoZ: Twilight Princess). Push Sunshine in eShop as is and I will be happy.
All the more reason to improve it with a remake!Sunshine is the worst of the 3D Mario games, so they most likely will.
