I don't know. Coconut cookies? What's some good coconut food? Coconut slices on CAKE is the most vile, evil thing in the world.

What are you talking about? Coconut Cake is the best Cake.

Necky spits out COCONUTS. Has anyone here even PLAYED DKC?!

coconuts are seeds.

also, what kind of buzzard eats coconuts? They eat meat off of dead things.

Coconuts are awesome, but there's literally nothing good about the mango. Smells bad, tastes bad, has a gross and terrible texture. It's not even an attractive color.

Without coconut there could be no Pina Colada.

Mangos taste great and you are wrong.

Well, coconuts have weird black markings on them. One time my father brought home a coconut that looked like it had an :o face and rolled to me and I ran away. Looked and felt like a decapitated furry man's head.

Right, well...no one show this guy the infamous girl in the bathtub being poured milk over her head by a guy with a coconut for a face pic then.

You know, despite my love of rum (mmmmmmmmmmmmmMMMMmmm), I've never had a piña colada.

I generally hate coconut, but I would definitely try this if the opportunity presented itself.

Trust me, Piña Coladas are great.

This is the only active thread in my subscriptions right now... why are you talking about this bullshit??
Because when we actually talk about Donkey Kong Country Returns someone comes in and starts whining about how the lack of K. Rool is an abomination and a disgrace to the franchise and Retro just shot themselves in the foot and I don't know how much you know about DKC culture but honor and shame are huge parts of it etc. etc.

Anyone that hates coconut has clearly never had a Mounds Bar.
I'll pick one up when I'm out later today and deliver my final verdict re:coconut.

So, back to yesterdays conversation about the difficulty of gaming relative to what it used to be.

Games were harder. The first level of the fourth world in DKC kicked my ass all day.. it's the first level that has been dominated by blast barrels in the game and it was a bitch. spinning, moving, wasps in the way, etc. Crazy times. Took me about 20 tries to get through it.. then I did it again and got through on the first try.

My twitch gaming stills are still in there somewhere, they are slowly being reawoken.

Not really, replayed DKC like a month ago. It was really really easy.

The snow one right? Screw that level. Probably some of the cheapest deaths I've had in any platformer. I think I died on one part of that level about 30 times before I lucked out and fell into a hidden barrel that takes to the end. :lol

Edit- DKC had a bunch of cheap levels. Like that one where the lights turn on and off.

Luckily DKC2 wasn't as cheap. The only hard level in that was the Squawk race level.

I really find that's the only "hard" level in the game, because you tend to rush it.

oh and

VROOOOOOOOOM

There's no underwater levels?! What?! O_O

I'm wanting to love this project, I really am, but the more and more I hear about it, it just worries me.

Will wait and see, though.

I don't think I've ever gotten to a water level in a platformer and though "Awesome!". It's almost always "fuck, a water level?". Heck, I just experienced this last night in Mario Galaxy 2. The only saving grace of the level was that you could turn all the water to ice and ice skate everywhere.

I consider their absence a good thing.

I guess my main thing still is that I can't deal with the Kremlings just being completely axed. Would have been able to completely understand if this was another DK series unto itself, but when I think DKC, I of course think of everything that we've seen thus far, including various Kremlings. :lol

Ah well...not going to stop from being interested in this game. Kirby and DK literally months apart....? Awesome. :D

Did you play any of the original DKC games? Some of the aquatic levels were the most beautifully put together levels I've ever experienced in a video game, both aurally and visually.

Just the fantastic music though. They helped break the pace as well, but water levels are always one of the weakest parts of platformers.

the problem is that there are entire worlds of water level
if you give it in small doses, maybe one or 2 water lvl per world (or 2) i'm totally up for it

water lvls arent bad

for some reason, the skating in Galaxy was a lot more fun than it should have been

The ones in DKC were pretty bland outisde of the music, but DKC 2 had pretty cool stuff with the water you had to cool down.

Nah that's just plain annoying. DKC water levels are alright as long as you have Engarde, zip past water levels super fast.

I won the coconut wars with Coconut shrimp.

Piña Coladas are one hell of a grenade to lob though. If shrimp hadn't got there first I might have had to admit a loss.

Same build as E3 and IGN even says that the article is more or less useless.

That's typical Nintendo. The only game I remember they announced at an EU show was the original Mario Strikers for GCN, if I recall correctly.

The more I think about how much fun it was playing the first two DKC games (I never beat the 3rd one) the more I look forward to this game. Hearing that it's going to be as hard as those two actually brings a smile to my face. I remember loosing a ton of lives to certain levels (minecarts, flying on birds through bramble mazes, etc.) but always feeling great when I finally beat them.

Bring it on Retro!

The problem is the composition of the music tracks. I hope that Yamamoto will not only rely on remakes.
