Lawl G the entirety of LGD.int such a trolls.

Feed them early game to give them hope, still take rax around 15 mins, rosh at 20 with a luna near full inventory and a ta with a blink deso.

Drawing for group stages out of qualified teams right now.

G-League groups are:
Group A: DK, LGD, LGD.int, forLove
Group B: iG, VG, TongFu, MUFC

(Jesus group A is hell)

I had a great game as Dazzle just now. I hit some pretty epic shallow graves I must say. It did make me realize I have no idea what most of the moves are called. Dazzle's ult is called Weave and not Super Armor Break Move? I'm trying to think of a hero whose moves I know all the names for. I know Axe, and maybe Lich (Frost Nova? Or is that Maiden's move).

Invoker has pretty easy names for all of his stuff ;)

But aside from professional casting he's a decent player, to say the least. I've never doubted in Milk's skills, hell, I'm pretty much sure he's the best Dota 2 player I've yet had a chance to play with. Yet, I genuinely believe that Purge if not better but at least on par with Milk, no question about that.

Purge isn't anything special, just a decent higher level player. I've beaten him, and I lost a game pretty handily because he played an awful meepo on my team.

I played with him once a while back, I would agree he isn't anything too special as a player. He has just been a Dota caster for years and got some windfall with Dota 2.

I don't remember him casting any Dota before Dota 2, I thought he just got big because he for a while filled the void of "streamers somewhat helpful to new players," which Merlini is doing much better right now.

Luminous, LD, Tobi all casted Dota 1 a lot, but I don't ever remember seeing Purge before Dota 2. Oh well, he's definitely nothing special. I'd put any of the higher skill GAF players above him.

It's now (since 6.76) a normal projectile, you can't dodge it anymore.

Chaos Bolt's stun is no longer partially undodgeable (now a normal projectile with 1000 speed)

From partially undodgeable to a normal projectile with 1000 speed to me implies that it should be disjointed by a mirana leap, no? I mean if it's a normal projectile it should be disjointed like all other normal projectiles. If it were not a normal projectile, like a storm hammer or a shackle shot then you'd expect it to not be disjointed.

What can you dodge with miranas leap?

It is dodgeable; I dodged one last week playing as Mirana vs CK.

You should be able to disjoint most projectiles with the leap. Auto-attacks, projectile stuns like Vengeful's, shurikens from Bounty Hunter. I think the examples of things you can disjoint outnumber the exceptions.

For things you can't dodge, included with the sven stun and shackle shot, there's spirit lance, death pulse, and stuff like daggers from PA and Spec.

edit: Oh, I should mention that you can disjoint things like Juggernaut ulti with it as well if you time it correctly. A manta style helps with this.

Did you dodge it at the last possible moment? I'm wondering if I should file a bug report or not.

We need a DOTAGAF vs Purge and Friends grudge match to settle this.

With bzm and astro on commentary.

I watched a mirana leap a chaos bolt and still get stunned. That's not supposed to happen anymore, no?

Depends on where the leap was casted, I know waiting until the last few frames before it hits to leap away disjoints the projectile. Although i'm not sure what happened since i've been seeing weird projectile things all week since the last patch.

Actual Example:

I'm playing Batrider, and I gank the top lane with Wisp using it's teleport. We show up and take down Chaos Knight and start work on Vengeful Spirit. Prophet TPs in and sprouts around me. Wisp stays tethered, and I drop down to 48 health the second we teleport back to our tier 2 tower. Prophet was mid-animation for his auto attack, and it followed me all the way from top lane to bottom lane to kill me seconds after the teleport ended.

I've got time for a quick tutorial game. If anyone would like to guide me through the basics over voice chat.

Hm, I'd be down for that. Lets do a pure bot game, in case I have to leave early

I'm in game now. Add me @RbBrdMan..

additionally is there a way to change my Steam Name to match my forum name? I'm sick of the BrdMan moniker.

I've searched for you Techno, but there are many The Technomancer type usernames.

If you're online in a few hours I can act as a dummy opponent if anyone wants to teach you. My name is Smash-It Stan

If you wanna change your name, either go to Edit my profile on your steam page or click the little arrow next to your name in the friends list.

Thanks for the tip about changing my screen name. I will add you as a friend. I might be available around 8pm EST tonight. I have a paper to write so whenever I'm done with it tonight we can hook up.

No, he cast Dota cash and did his whole play a hero series in dota 1.

Thanks Guys, add me on steam RbBrdMan. I doubt that I'm better than anyone I've played 2 co-op bot games. Didn't get a single kill. I seriously do not even know the basics of the game. I'll need some voice coaching. ;)

I have been playing since Summer but very sporadicly. Would like to play better.
I have some spare time in the weekends and will try to join.

You should make a Clockwerk skin that looks like the robot from Under Siege :p and log back onto psn!

I've been watching Purge because he's always at the top of my YouTube searches. n0b you said that Merlini is a better caster for new players, but I can't seem to find his YT account. Do you know what his account name is?

Who else is a really good high level player to watch? I like to see how they control their hero and the camera and stuff, since that's what I struggle with the most.

Watch streams or the recordings of those on twitch or own3d.
I'm pretty sure Merlini doesn't upload his stuff on youtube, but he streams quite a often.

What is the best way to deal with Keeper of the Light? Every time I go up against him I either just eat his nuke trying to farm or get zoned out and fall really behind. I feel like it should be easy to avoid since it is such a long charge and easy to see, but I still get hit >.<

You said it with such a tone that sounds like you're almost saying that you're better than Purge. Almost.

Didn't mean it like that since I don't care whether or not I'm better than Purge. I mean that given our team composition, they should have never come close to winning in the first place. Puppet is a fraud and I'm trying to save you all from donating hats to that madman.

Looking back though, didn't realize he had a 4 man stack with megumixbear (who is pretty bad, sorry) / hilger / super joe.

One thing I've never got yet is how item attributes stack, i.e. if I get 2x hyper stones do I get twice the attack speed bonus?

Unless it has a percentage attached to it, it just adds to it

For instance, hyperstone is 50 AS. Two hyperstones are 100 AS. It takes your BAT (which for most heroes is 1.7 I believe) and does a calculation with a simple formula (its on the playdota website).

Trolls gives 180 as. The only spell I can think of off the top of my head that multiplies your AS is Lone Druid's rabid.

edit: More info is that the cap is 500 AS. Ursa's active use to just give him 500 AS for 6 attacks but I think its works differently now.

Pulled from playdota;

To determine how fast a unit attacks, the formula below is used:

Attacks per second = (1 + IAS)/BAT

Note: IAS in this formula is a percentage, so you must divide your actual IAS by 100 before using it in this formula.

Example of formula:
Vengeful Spirit has a BAT of 1.7
If Vengeful Spirit has a total of 160 IAS, the formula will be as follows:
Attacks per second = (1 + 1.60)/1.7 = 1.53 times per second.

Ok I'll look on twitch. Thanks.

His tips and stuff maybe are for a bit more advanced players than Purge makes his plays/tutorials for, but he generally talks through his decisions, whether they are simple positioning and movement around the map up to specific item choices, skill builds, skill uses etc. He's also generally pretty active with his chat and answers questions when he gets a chance to check the chat in game.

So after watching Blinkin and Slammin around a 100 times, yesterday was the day I picked AntiMage. Heard he's a pretty good hero.

Game took way too long though...

You don't pick AM to finish matches quickly.

We reached a point where Silencer had so much int stolen, that he was hitting really really hard with pure damage. We could have won at the 50min mark easy, but we fucked up and everything got delayed

I played in the Defense 3 qualifier, but my team is playing mostly for fun, have 2(3) new players, have been playing for like a month or so, one of them has 30 pub wins or something and the other like 10, so we got stomped 30-0. It was a horrible experience..

Yeah silencer is an insanely good hero now, once he's added to CM I expect to see him picked pretty often.

One of my favorite things to do on AM is pick up an early hood against a nuke heavy team. Hilarious how much you can take before you die with a hood on.

Thanks that really helped!

Kotl is extremely fragile and slow and weak, the best way to tackle him is to get tanky heroes that can bully him out of lane or outright kill him like Nightstalker, Sven, Centaur etc. supported with Jakiro, Veno, Shadow Demon, the likes. If you let him just pummel you and your creep wave from afar, you'll have a lot of issues. Kill him early, kill him often, and he'll leave you alone. You figure it's OK to tank an illuminate while walking up to him if it means you'll murder his bony ass.
