I think most of the core whining has settled down, and the issue most are pissed about now is that Valve gave dotabuff 0 communication with no heads up, and then shut down their method of data collecting and suddenly brought up the webAPI a day before dotabuff plus and all the extra features launched. It's disrespectful at best, especially when dotabuff has been communicating with you for months and even warned you about several leaks in your client. The least you can do is send the most popular dota 2 third party site a warning or a heads up that they must soon switch to the webAPI.
Think many want the default option to be public as well, which I agree with. With all this "right to privacy" bullshit you'd think Valve is heading up the legal counsel on abortion. Make it default public so the people that want to hide their shitty stats can hide them, while the rest of the population that doesn't care doesn't have to go through a bunch of loops or have to tell every new friend/account how to enable stat tracking.
