Dragon Ball Super |OT| 28 Episodes Later

It's just a perception of slow pacing due to having seen the events already transpire in a movie that's an hour and a half long

Plus you are probably a lot later than when you first saw DBZ when it was all exciting as hell. I remember disliking not a single episode of DBZ on first view, cause i was young and it was new and it was awesome. Now we are older :P Its a 9am japanese kids anime, get over it...

It's okay friends, only a couple more episodes until we're done BOG...

... And then we get to do it all over again with revival of F :)

Surely there must be stuff between the two.

We need to see how Goku/Vegeta convince Whis to train with him. We need to see how Vegeta becomes a God. We need to see how both of them learn to become Super Saiyin God Super Sayains. Hopefully we may even see Frieza training and unlocking his form.

Shit like that.

I'd be more fine with the pacing in the BoG arc if I hadn't just rewatched the movie a few months ago, so it's too fresh in my mind right now.

That, and there was a new episode every day for four months.

Followed then by eight months of reruns :lol

4 months? In germany it ran for almost 30 weeks 2 new episodes everyday at 7pm (Mo-Fr) glorious times back then when DBZ aired the first time...and now it isnt airing at all, only OG Dragon Ball...

Well currently even that isnt on TV (yet everyday the channel gets blasted with "show DB, DBZ and DBS" only for them to respond "we dont have any news concerning that..."

Haha, oh.

Well, licensing is hard, I guess. Nobody has DBS, right now, as far as I know? Which is baffling and also stupid. I'd love to watch an official sub instead of waiting for fansubs. ):

I'm experimenting with letting a few episodes stack up to see if it's less jarring to get through this slow stuff. I might just wait for the BoG arc to end and then marathon the rest of it. Meanwhile the manga has already showed something of Champa and female Whis despite only having three chapters ;)

At least Resurrection F is ten times more entertaining than BoG was so it'll be a little less painful to slog through in the anime. Might even be entertaining depending on how interesting the added content is but not digging the pace thus far like many others. Looking forward to the post movie content though and finding out why they need the Super Dragon Balls in Universe 6. Wonder if they'll actually need them or will just be racing to collect them before a malevolent force does. Perhaps both.

The extended cut of BoG had a better rock paper scissors scene. Yamcha coaching Oolong on which one he should pick was great and it's too bad they removed that.

My issue is that they're inconsistent with Gohan specifically. Later on in the timeline it makes sense because his elder kai boost would have faded over time due to neglect, but i'm pretty sure he used it like an episode ago. I always understood that it replaced super saiyan, but maybe it's just alternative technique? Gohan needs attention in this series either way.

Doesn't he only turn SS to create the super saiyan god? That's consistent with the movie.

RoF should benefit from being extended though. BoG was fine as a 90 minute movie.

You'd think so.

there's so fucking much they can do to flesh out the revival of F story. my bold prediction: the super adaptation of the film is a poorly paced, badly animated version of the movie that doesn't explore anything outside of the film. no freeza training, no goku/vegeta/whis between movies story.

I really hope I'm wrong.

This is my expectation as well. Would love to be pleasantly surprised.

Yeah. I check up on the weekly episodes for changed and new material, but I think everyone's pretty much just waiting for the actually original material.

Also, I think they did the one hit thing with Gohan just to illustrate how far ahead of them Beerus is. You can tell by Piccolo's reaction to it that Gohan is still the strongest or at least at the top of the bunch of them. Maybe Beerus figured he can play with the others, but needed Gohan out of the picture since he would pose the biggest (even if still insignificant) threat to him.

Quoting again because I think this analysis is underappreciated

But didn't Gohan's "Mystic" transformation replace his Super Saiyan form? IIRC, the Old Kai tells Gohan to go Super Saiyan when he transforms for the first time.
Going by game data (i do love me some dbz games), technically yes. But because if that, it feels like a different form, like kaio ken and SSG(if it is a different form)

Things change :P sometimes for reasons, sometimes without...

Fusion-dance: fusion will hold for around 30 minutes, but if you actually fight and power up the time will go down much faster...cause of reasons (nobody every stated if you could train to get the fusion going longer or atleast make higher power levels less energy dragging...

Earring-Fusion: Will hold forever!...unless you are Vegeta and Goku then it will stop once you are absorbed jsut for shits and giggles...

I don't like how the characters have been downscaled power wise. The whole time Vegeta was fighing i was wondering "how the hell is the ship still intact?" They are fighting over it, around it but none of the attacks even so much as blew away the food and stereo on the cruise ship

There was hardly any property damage to speak of. "Oh Vegeta punched the bad guy and made a big wave!" Yeah welcome to the saiyan saga

Thats been pretty much going on since the end of DB, hell, the most recent non Super example would be ss4 gogeta vs omega shenron where gogeta divekicks him and a standard size building is destroyed.

Now that think about it, this kinda only happens with the show.

This amused me but I agree.

This is the only episode I watched so far that I thought dragged... I thought Vegeta vs Beerus was awesome. Wayyy more than I was expecting. I was thinking it'd be just like the movie where he gets like one punch and then smacked down.

These people have control of their energy.

Destruction of nearby environments from powering up is due to a lack of concern about the environment around them.

Much why common blasts that strike the Earth don't blow it up.

Makes it feel really cheap , its a bad excuse to simply not show fights as good as they could. Especially when your fighting over an ocean miles away from any civilization

So are the "sagas" in this new series only, like, ten episodes long now?

The first two arcs are adaptations of movies, and at least for this first one they aren't really adding anything important to it (well, the first two episodes were mostly new, but afterwards it's basically a slower Battle of Gods for tv). We don't know how long the Universe 6 story is going to be.

Nice episode. But how are going to explain SS2 Vegita being more powerful than SS3 Goku or even Mystic Gohan? :^/

It's like UFC or a boxing match. You're not going to get the same exact outcome every time you pair two people up. There are emotions, psychology, and physiology at play in any square off.

I hope DBS is like DBZ up to the Cell saga in that each saga directly led into the other. From BoG, the link between the two sagas isn't huge. Hopefully they add shit in besides "Goku and Vegeta train with Whis and then X happens".

How many episodes are there so far, 8?
I watched the 8th yesterday, and so far I'm really enjoying it, even having already watched BoG (no RoF yet though).

I'm hoping that after this saga we get what made me stay glued to the TV when I was a kid watching the original DB... a tournament, but not on Earth, no need to have Mr.Satan shannanigans.

'All kills of Yamcha' had me in tears. 'Kills of Goku' shows how much of a softie Goku has become after Dragonball. Like all of his kills are from Dragonball, he didn't fuck around back then. Kill his friend or someone his friends hold dearly? RIP in pepperoni.

Simple.
Vegeta trained every day at >100G, therefore surpassed Goku's power level (he was a farmer and started training at King Kai´s planet which is only 10G).
Gohan read books.

Add the rage to the mix and there it is.

Vegeta = GOAT
