Goku was fighting for fun. Vegeta was fighting for someone else.

If Goku was actually pissed, it'd be no contest.
Pretty much this.

It wasn't like Goku had anything on the line in his first fight with Beerus. However, Vegeta was in a similar situation as to what Goku was on Namek against Frieza when he turned SSJ. So it doesn't really bother me now that I think about it. Should have made Vegeta go SSJ3 though

Simple.
Vegeta trained every day at >100G, therefore surpassed Goku's power level (he was a farmer and started training at King Kai´s planet which is only 10G).
Gohan read books.

Add the rage to the mix and there it is.

Vegeta = GOAT

Didn't he train at 400 to prepare for the Androids? Should be in the thousands now.

it just looks so wrong when you see his Granpa in there with the death count

and the other uncensored ones

Oh God

In Vegeta's family portrait, who's the blond woman to his left holding Bra?

Also, Goku's family photo just emphasizes how obscene it is that they never tried to wish Radditz back. Vegeta gets a second chance after killing millions but Goku doesn't even bother to mend things with his own brother? I mean he could kill him in an instant if he did anything bad, even Krillin could.

*Insert "Toriyama Forgot" catchphrase here*

In retrospect, it really does seem like such a waste that they never did anything more with Nappa or Raditz. Raditz, for the same type of familial reconciliation that was allowed for Vegeta and Tarble. Nappa, if for nothing else, could be reborn as something closer to his 4Star self, and maybe we could finally see what happens if he were to go any level above basic!

SSJ Nappa definitely needs to officially happen some day.

EDIT: holy shit i just googled that and

I'm all for his mustache going full ssj into an insane beard

Seen that before, but still gets me every time.

But yeah, again: Nappa and Raditz are pretty much up there with Future Trunks as far as "characters I'd like to see get some shine in Super, somehow".

I mean, as long as new games and other material like HEROES is still being made, they might as well make for more means to reinvigorate interest in some of these characters, instead of just being "there".

so super is getting a new ED theme in october

that corresponds with episode 13

I miss the days of one great song being the ending theme for 200 episodes. zenkai power forever.

I miss the days of one great song being the ending theme for 200 episodes. zenkai power forever.

And I miss when OPs and EDs actually made sense with the series and weren't some J-pop/rock insert, DBZ Kai did that fine. its just the current trend of anime now a days, but hell they must have every J-pop and rock star pounding at Toei's door to get their songs in super, a new DBZ anime would garner allot of attention from singers for that popularity.

I always disliked it when a single theme stuck for that long. Usually, by that point, the animation was completely unrelated to what was going on in the show, and, if you are going to change the animation, change the music itself too.

this is always relevant

Jeez.

Imagine SSGSS Vegito...

He'd be way too OP. Look at how powerful he was in Z, without the fusion they didn't stand a chance against the Buu that made SSJ3 Goku look like an insect. The gap between Gohan-Buu and Goku/Vegeta made SSJ2 Gohan/Cell look puny in comparison, Buu was just so far ahead. But when they did fuse? They became so much more powerful, probably the biggest gain in power at that point in the series. He made Buu look like an insect. Now Goku and Vegeta are much more powerful. Probably hundreds of times stronger. You take into account their individual growth of strength in combination with the Potara multiplying effect which is borderline ridiculous?

Is it crazy to say that he'd surpass Whis?

Maybe whis and beerus fuse just to stand a chance...

I think they'll write some way to basically make fusion irrelevant. Maybe it doesn't work alongside god ki. Because otherwise you create a problem - either the villains are so strong than Goku and Vegeta will never be able to win by themselves, in order to have an opponent for their fusion, or they can never actually face a serious threat that forces them to team up, if they don't want fusion. Either way, it limits what they can do. If they drop a line about fusion being incompatible with god ki, it pretty much solves all problems.

That line might be tough to pull...

The Buu saga portion of Kai changed up its ending frequently and they are all pretty decent.

I'm pretty sure the solution is even simpler than that. It'll just be Vegeta being himself... "I'LL NEVER FUSE WITH KAKAROT AGAIN NO MATTER WHAT blah blah blah"

boom. no vegito or gogeta.

Super's theme is pretty fitting to me and upbeat.

Actually, Supreme Kai got a pretty minor power boost from that compared to the other fusions we've seen so I think it actually works pretty well. Of course, I guess it could just be a matter of Kibito having a very low power.

Seems like it's Bulma's older sister, Tights?

I'd never heard of her before, just kinda guessed based on proximity, searched for "Bulma's sister" and voila.

She looks like Toriyama copy-pasted Bianca from Dragon Quest 5 and gave her different clothes and name.

That IS the Bianca art photoshopped. It's not actual Toriyama art. It's a fake edit meant to look like an adult Tights in RoF (see RoF Kuriri bellow her), she doesn't look like that in Jaco, and doesn't appear in RoF either.

Lol sorry guys I really didn't even know she was a character at all when I went looking for that. I've ruined everything. D:

Guys the reason their Potara boost was so strong is that Vegeta was dead at the time (as stated by the Old Kaioshin, united opposites giving the best effect or something along those lines). Now that they're both alive the power boost wouldn't be nearly as much.

Why do people even want Raditz back? Goku has no relationship with him apart from him trying to kill Goku and kidnap Gohan. They at least had a common enemy with Vegeta and Vegeta also spilled his emotions onto Goku. Not to mention Goku was given the chance to turn Vegeta into a rival without immediately risking his family and the Earth.

There was no such thing with Raditz. Brother or not, he's just such a minor character that isn't worth bringing back.

Raditz has the ability to bridge the gap between Goku and Bardock.

He's only a minor character because he was killed off so quickly. There's a number of things the writers could have done to promote his relevance if they chose to do so.

But Goku was alive when they fused.

Hmmm. Unless I'm forgetting him mentioning that specifical duality, I don't know if that necessarily applies. My understanding was that the boost was from their rivalry and opposition to one another. Dead vs. Alive would be an arbitrary marker for opposites unless otherwise stated explicitly. Why not short vs tall? Would Nappa give a bigger boost to someone who had a head of hair and no beard? Seems random to me.

But Goku was alive when they fused.
And Vegeta was dead. He was arguing that because one was alive and the other was dead, the fusion worked better.

I never really heard that one before. I always thought their fusion worked better because they were rivals and on opposite ends of the spectrum mentally.

Also by the time Goku got back to Earth, Vegeta had been living there for almost two years. Well in the manga at least.
