Some big news:
Dragonball Super manga skipping ahead to the Champa arc to showcase the future of the anime.

It might just be talking about the way Champa is already featured in the manga. I don't think they'd have set up Freeza's Ressurection if they were just going to skip it altogether.

What's the consensus at this point on the overall quality of the show?

It still has really derpy moments, but episodes 11 and 12 have been pretty fun.

I think the less obvious shortcut they're taking is repeating animation sequences and frames to fill runtime. There's just less unique animation going on than I feel like I'm used to.

There have also been some legitimately funny moments, so the drop in quality for fights and animation is being held up by decent writing and self-awareness.

My opinion differ.

Only one episode re used shots, episode 12.

And that episode wasn't "fun" it was one of the worst. 10 and 11 were fun and 13 was a great one. 12 was really mediocre in terms of pacing, story, and animation due to excessive use of after effects production value / re used animations through the whole thing.

Episode 14 seems to be as bad as episode 05, so that should be interesting.

We had 4 episodes that looked fairly good, in a row. Back to trash now I guess.

I like it a lot so far, kinda meh that we already know what happens but it's still fun and the animation is getting better.
It's a new Dragon Ball after all these years !
We need new characters tho..... Champa and Vodkay need to appear ASAP.

They will drag those fodder fighting Frieza's army for at least 10 episodes, won't they?

No way they'd leave Goku mostly off screen for 10 episodes. I actually kind of hope they drag that battle and use that to add some new unique soldiers to Freeza's army though. It'd be great if each character got an unique opponent, One Piece-style.

I would be okay with the battle against Frieza's army lasting longer if they made some of Frieza's henchmen into decent villains for Piccolo and the rest to fight.

Vegeta sides with Champa?

What does 'skipping' mean exactly in the case of that manga? Producing planned later issues alongside the current ones or just flat out ditching a number of issues?

also: I like Broly. :( (that family kamehameha is the one thing you never get in the regular show. Also Krillin literally decapitating someone. Like, it actually worked for once)
Just not the English version with that horrible 'theme'. So unfitting to go with grunge or whatever that garbage is. We all know he's not a very good villain, but just being power-mad without the flashy moves is itself a variation the show never got to. Buu maybe, but his prowess is based on his ability to copy any move he has seen, so he still has 'flashy moves', aside from his own magic. Of course, a lot of DB guys thought they were powerful, only to be defeated in one punch or something.

not sure. the last chapter of the super manga ended just before the events of revival of F.

maybe they're going to condense the hell out of that story. or maybe champa plays a large roll in it with this adaptation. who knows.

Don't worry. He's going to pass up 18 because the dude keeps on training non stop. His dedication to training is up there with Goku and Vegeta.[/QUOTE]

The only human that would get a power-up specifically for him is Krillin since he's actually a main support character like Piccolo. Tien's just part of the rest of the human fight group, so if he gets a powerup, it'd be one where everyone gets a powerup.

I remembered that there was some weird Launch/Tien dynamic back in the day. All the relationships in Dragonball I'm surprised that never panned out.

Wasn't that their excuse in the anime for why Launch just ceased to exist? I think they said she took off to find Tien. And he's always out in the middle of fuckin nowhere so he was probably hard to find.

He only needs a powerup to be able to compete with Goku and Vegeta and probably Piccolo as he also trains. That will never happen though. Tien trains non stop. He will eventually pass up 18.

So if Goku basically kept the god power even after the time limit, will he ever have to transform again?

Finally watched this episode. I normally don't mind when Goku is stupid powerful but if they aren't going to up the power of everyone else this is going to suck a lot. A lot of the best fights in the series from the DBZ point on up don't even include Goku. I don't want this turning into a situation where only Goku does things while everyone is sitting off to the side.

Was hoping after the power faded he'd never reach this point again but he'd try to on his own. To make future fights interesting. If he gets to keep this power level then no one else should bother suiting up, not even Vegeta.

Time for you motherfuckers to brush up on your DBZ history. This man was able to hold off fucking Semi-Perfect Cell all by himself.

Tien is the strongest human out there; period, point blank.

Yep. Even though the Kikoho is an OP move (and the Shin-Kikoho must be even more OP), no one except for Android 16 at the time could hold back Imperfect Cell if they tried. Not Goku, not Vegeta, not Piccolo, not Trunks, not Android 17, not Android 18.

But Tien held back Semi-Perfect Cell.

And in Super, he is knocked out by the same level of attack from Beerus as Piccolo and 18. He's definitely the strongest human. Anyone who actually bothered with the material before Raditz's arrival would know that.
