Have you seen Freezer's calves? If nothing else, the guy made it very clear he hasn't skipped leg day.

That regimen...really isn't that impressive. Even I could do that, and I ain't what you'd call an athlete.

You ain't able to dude. squats x100, push ups x100 and sit ups x100 without taking a break between? You have to be a bit more athletic to do these without taking a break in between. It's not 25 x 4 each time (anyone could do that with enough time) but it is 100 at a time so it is not that easy.

Oh that's all supposed to be one set? With no breaks? Well, okay that's a bit more strenuous then. I take back my previous complaint.

Powered through the first 10 episodes.

Holy filler, Batman!

First several episodes were fantastic and then it dropped down in quality significantly. My favorite moment so far has to be Beerus' epic pudding rant. Also having the fate of the earth decided by rock paper scissor felt very Toriyama.

Other than that literally everything else is inferior to Battle of Gods. In the past, I always felt the fast pacing of the movies was a real disservice to what made dbz so great.

But in this instance, it really goes to show how well directed BoG was. Without question the best DBZ movie, with movie 13 coming in second.

Haven't seen Revival of F yet but I may just stick with the tv show if they plan on simply overlapping again. Might make me appreciate it more. ..

Even though I have liked all of super even after watching Battle of Gods that does seem like a smart thing to do

If you did them consecutively every day (ie 100 push ups at once immediately followed by 100 sit ups etc), that would be pretty intensive I think.

You'd also just get really good at doing push ups efficiently and the push up gainz would stop after the first noob gains.

Compound movements ftw, brah.

DB is a gag manga (and gag anime). Never forget that.

DB was, and DBZ still was to some extent but not as much, but DBS is back to having tons of gags and it's beautifulllllllllll.

Finally watched latest episode. Goku and Vegeta trying to change Beerus' sheets was hilarious.

This Ginyu Tagoma stuff sounds like absolute bullshit

They gave Goku a phone in Super already. I think Abridged gave them that idea.
"You're dumb as he is if you think that idiot knows how to work a phone!"

So a Ginyu switch isn't unthinkable, and gives the other guys someone to work with while Vegeta and Goku take on Freeza. AT / Dragon Ball tends to switch things around when doing it again. Goku and Veggie already took on the Ginyus before, so it's likely to pass him on to the gang this time.

Besides, nobody wants to see a 1:1 conversion of RoF. That would be silly for both the audience and Toei for spending money on the same thing twice.

edit:

the "namekians don't eat" came up in episode 51 of (Funimation) DBZ by the way, so either the English dub made that up, or it was canon from the start.

To be honest, the Ginyu and Tagoma type stuff actually sounds good because it's the type of changes that should be made to a more TV-format to take advantage of the fact that you have more time to work with. Unlike in RoF, it's definitely good to give more screentime to the characters who can't get it in a movie due to not being as important.

DB and DBZ have the same source material, wich is the DB Manga, wich, as has been said, is a gag manga.

But i agree that the current state is Dragonball at it's best :)

The DB manga became less and less of a gag manga as it went on though. The Piccolo Daimao arc definitely set the tone for the rest of the manga: Saiyan, Freeza, and Cell. Buu is just a weird wild card arc where Toriyama was given no restraints, as opposed to the Cell arc.

That was just Toriyama going astray because of many different factors. Taken as a whole the franchise is not meant to be taken as seriously as some fans do.
I definitely agree. Dragon Ball taken as its whole is silly as hell. When I hear people whining about power inconsistencies in RF and such, I can't help but laugh. It's no coincidence that my least favorite arc, the Cell arc, is also the most "serious."

I'm aware of the source material, I've read it, but I'm talking about the anime! Barring filler, Z had significantly less gag presence than DB did. Also, as Possum mentioned, the manga did similarly become less gag heavy. But it probably still had a higher gag ratio than the anime, if only because the anime realllllllllllllllly drags some of those fights out.

I'm the opposite, DB's humor was too juvenile for me and I liked DBZ's more serious tone. DBS's humor is the best of the bunch, besides all the food reactions from Whis and Beerus, we get it, they love food, they really need a new schtick, though.

But vegeta trying to cook, goku punching Krillin, trying to change beerus's sheets these have all been top notch comedy routines. I also love vegeta playing the straight man and where I used to like goku more in Z, vegeta is quickly becoming my new face character.

Put me in #teamvegeta.

Episode was a slow paced RoF
up through the restoration of frieza's body in the healing pod.

Absolutely nothing new.

There seem to be more changes this time around compared to the BoG saga.
Goten and Trunks are actually here now.

Based on the magazine spoilers (and also hinted at in the preview scenes,
they still won't fight though. It's going to be the same group from RoF for the heroes. We're just getting an on-screen excuse for them not fighting next episode.
