bruh, you wrote the most pessimistic and cynical critique(with no meaningful argument) of a light hearted cartoon episode. it is an honor for you to call my the main complainer here, thank you.

i think you mistake my attitude (which is fine, you dont know me), im not cynical about db, i love it. thats why i notice detail, because im a huge fan.

People need to read that animation styles guide on Kanzenshuu about DBZ: http://www.kanzenshuu.com/animation-styles/

And of course, this will always be apparent on any long standing anime as many have pointed out already.

They both are pretty bad. :P

Nothing more perplexing than people unable to enjoy a FREAKING NEW DRAGON BALL SERIES.

What is wrong with you?
Yeah, the budget is not high. Yeah, it is not going to be perfect (like the original never was perfect either, so....).

I can only imagine what will happen when the new Twin Peaks airs.

Oh wow... that episode was more damaging to Vegeta's reputation than the karaoke scene ever was. Dear god. Man, the movie version is so much better...

Don't get me wrong, I love the concept. I just think BoG pulled it off a lot better. He's a little too humiliated and terrified in this version IMO.

I've been thoroughly enjoying this new season of Dragon Ball. So it's really depressing coming into this thread. anyone in here actually enjoying the content of the show?

I´m absolutely loving it. And i agree with you, like, brehs, it´s a new dragon ball show.

I think it´s really funny, the animation is alright (though episode 5 was bad) and i know it´s just retelling the 2 movies right now, but they change things here and there, so it doesn´t bother me.

And i LOVE that Pilaf and gang are back, they´re hilarious to me.

I'm really enjoying it for the most part and all this talk about the animation got old really fast.

I think it worked really well. Vegeta's only previous encounter with Beerus was seeing him smash his father's head into the ground over a pillow and then making him collapse by just looking at him. Beerus also makes him collapse by just looking at him again in the present day and can keep him there. Vegeta knows who Beerus is, he knows what he's capable of and he knows that the fighters on the ship stand no chance against him in a fight. Vegeta has grown to love Earth and his family and he does everything he can to try to make sure Beerus doesn't destroy them. I like the Super version of events a little better because Vegeta trying to keep Beerus from getting angry is the entire focus of this episode. I also don't think anything he did here was more self humiliating than the Bingo scene from BoG, but it still achieves the same thing pretty much.

I'm really enjoying it. The people complaining about animation should probably just wait for the dub, Toei has made a habit of making the DVD and Bluray versions of their shows look MUCH better than the broadcast versions and the version that Funi will dub will undoubtedly be the DVD/Bluray version. Hell I wouldn't even be surprised if part of the reason Toei isn't simulcasting this show is because the market for Dragon Ball outside of Japan is huge and they wanted to make sure the version that the rest of the world got was more polished.

And a fuck load more Sailor Moon Crystal comparisons here

Dragon Ball is Toei's biggest franchise in countries outside of Japan, there's really very little chance it doesn't get a similar treatment.

This is your answer to your problem with the show? Right before you complained about not having the bingo dance from BoG, while totally ignoring the brand new comic scene that replaces it with Chef Vegeta and the octopus. But now you're say the show is missing more new moments? The whole episode is about new comic vegeta moments with beerus, but putting another one in the pudding scene would have made the episode hilarious for you? This is just not a real strong argument you got here.... Ok, im legit done commenting back on this stuff lol. good talksss

Think about it though. That octopus scene is really just reiterating Krillin's takoyaki joke. They could have picked a different scene like that. And that whole scene (complete with the water gun fight) felt like a drawl. The bingo scene was hilarious because it was a different joke unrelated to anything before (besides Beerus's presence). That was my point. Yeah it didn't have to copy BoG, but at the same time the differences need to be distinct, otherwise you might as well just use BoG's jokes because that was more effective and less slow to the punchline.

With that said the episode did provide me an image reaction.

holy shit that jump in quality, reminds me of Jojo BRs

One thing Super does right is foreshadowing and setting up plot points and jokes in advance. You never had that before in DB and DBZ since Toriyama was just making it all up as he went along.

Haha I wonder if that'll continue past the movies? Be interesting to know how long term this is all mapped out.

I liked episode 6 but looks like we won't see the Mai+Trunks subplot in Super, at least yet.

Also, It will be interesting to see how are they revealing Pan's existence here, since there was no shooting scene.

Yeah, that was what I was thinking aswell. I guess she might just come out and say it since they're so lovey dovey right now.

Absolutely fantastic episode. It really feels like Vegeta is the main character as much as Goku is in a lot of ways, which is awesome (as Vegeta is always awesome).

Also the Krillin owned counter continues to rise in Super, which is exactly the way it should be.

That discussion was specifically about Kid Vegeta. He had the same hair style as adult Vegeta in BoGs and Dragonball Minus, but has a different hairstyle in Bardock Special and the recent episode. And, yes, it was stated during the Cell Saga that a Saiyan's hair isn't supposed to change.

O.O

I guess his hairline receded? That's so weird.

It's a show about fighting. If the fights look like shit, I think the complaining is warranted.

I still don't like Vegeta, such a boring character. Why would Bulma want to be with him? Seriously, he sucks.

"leave me alone, no fun allowed" blablabla. Why is he still like that?

Beerus seems more evil than in the movie, a lot more villainous.

Beerus was originally more evil in the movie until Toriyama toned him down. Makes sense that with Toriyama not handling the writing for Super, Beerus comes off more as he was first intended.

it was probably a dumb translation but why does Beerus say twice that he destroyed planet Vegeta? It seems that they're really going with him ordering Frieza to do it but come on bruh don't take the credit for the actual deed.

Well, his introduction in the movie was using a series of bombs as an alarm clock and still just barely managing to drag himself out of bed. A lot of people likely could sympathize with that. Plus, you know, cat.

Skipping that in Super lets him be more god and less cat making him more menacing. Also blowing up planets rather than being morning cranky does have a bit more impact.

I almost got a chill when he pulled out his "I'm a very generous god" speech again against Buu.

You know, the same speech he used when he curbstomped King Vegeta in front of his own son
