Duke's Freshman Porn Star Reveals Herself

How poor is poor though? Taxes and cost of living in some areas does crazy things to a families budget. My family should be well off but in no way would be able to send me to Duke or qualify for any kind of financial aid.

Well, do we know how poor she is? It'd vary from case to case.

Sometimes its like some people live in fantasy land. Do you people saying background checks won't find this, or that it won't matter not watch the news or read the papers? Many companies, large and small do Facebook checks and other checks too randomly. They fire people over bikini and drinking photos on their Facebook's! You think THIS won't matter? Get real.

The fact is, some scumbag student decided to break his word after finding her, then she decided to come out and suddenly it was this huge "statement" and all this other nonsense. She simply was paying for her way through school by this, got exposed and is now dealing with the consequences of being in that industry. Like everything in life you should consider your actions and all the potential consequences before you do them.

And also a big ole "lol" to people saying that industry is like any other because it's legal. It has a huge stigma attached to it, a lot of negativity, some of which is deserved, some of which isn't, and once you go in its a risk you take in many ways. This is all known though, and I am sure she knew this as well.

And yes the asshole kids are assholes but this all comes with being in the public light.

The exchange of money for sex freaks a lot of people out- and it's not just the conservative bible-thumper types. (You see people react very negatively to economic analyses that view it as a commodity, for instance.)

You see this with male sports stars all the time- they see themselves as a "businessman" instead of a performer.

Derek Jeter and Kobe also are not gargling cum and having cocks rammed up their ass.

Btw no one can really say shit I've had family members involved in the industry. It's not a great thing to do with your life.

When it comes to porn a lot of people are pretty prejudice against it and the people in it. They get a stigma attached and that came pretty much stick with them no matter what, how many times do we hear news stories about some one being caught having formerly worked in the business which causes a small scandal or the person to be fired.

Well, on camera anyway. Just pointing out a similar rationalization.

Hey man, what they do in the privacy of their own home is their own business.

oh god, I butchered this avatar quote

How has she able to keep that off her background checks?

She never got caught by the police. She earned enough to pay for 4 years of school and then gave it up. It helped that she landed some pretty high end clients that became regulars, one of which she got a vacation to Hawaii from, along with 10g for the week. She only had to do it for a couple years and she was done.

Why is she complaining about how expensive school is? The free market is deciding all that. Duke didn't have to provide you financial services and if that's an issue, you were free to go somewhere else.

Point being, the way they estimate who needs financal aid is an imperfect system, but Duke isn't an end all be all school. She could have gotten a quality education elsewhere if she wanted.

That said, I don't think less of her for going into porn, I just think that was a silly move if she wants to have a career going forward. And maybe that is the bigger issue at hand, I don't know.

Boom boom boom, exactly. She is not going to be a successful lawyer .....

No firm would hire her .

I wish she would go to a public university / something that doesn't cost so much money instead.
Why? If she wants to get the most out of her education and become a big shot lawyer, Duke is one of the best schools for that. They have one of the top law programs in the country.

Also, I was just joking about the girl who escorted when I asked about her background checks. I just think its funny how people are assuming any kind of porn work will show up on a background check.

Totally nailed that parody.

It might pay for school but she is probably not going to get hired anywhere now.

Which is puritan BS. Should be illegal to discriminate against someone based on that.
.

Seeing as she's already proven herself to be very determined and willing to make difficult sacrifices, I wonder if we won't be hearing from her in a few years when she sues various places of business for not hiring her.

I for one applaud this young lady for her guts.

Holy shit we have an insider here that personally knows her?

No offense but you make her out to be a hero. Determined and difficult sacrifices? Lol geeze, glad I didn't have to make those "difficult sacrifices" she did.

Aka having my asshole stretched to the point of an event horizon.

I feel this is relevant:

Edit: I really don't find porn all that degrading. I mean it's sex, right? We all have sex. What about it is degrading? Are we, as a culture, implying that people having sex is something to be hidden, to be ashamed of? So more power to this woman, I say.

People have different views on sex and what is degrading though. Personally I'm not a fan of the porn industry and I find that a lot of it is degrading for women. If this girl feels like she is empowered good for her I guess, but I wish she could've found a cheaper place to go to instead.

I have no idea what other options were at her disposal, but assuming she's telling the truth and porn was the best means to the end of graduating from Duke with a law degree and with good grades, then yes. More power to her. As far as the sex is concerned it's her body and she can do whatever she wants with it. Nobody is forcing you to look at the things she did and as long as they're not illegal I personally wouldn't judge her harshly.

Also, she had to know this could present a serious obstacle in the future, as obviously she's an intelligent person. So I assume if and when her employment record comes up, she'll have to exercise everything she learned at law school to the best of her abilities to get around it.

There's no question she's made choices that will result in her life being more challenging than it could have been, but if she's willing to fight for her rights, more power to her!

I think you are giving an 18 year old girl entirely too much credit quite honestly. But I respect your optimism and nice reply.

I don't know, if she is that smart would she have taken Facial Abuse as her first porno gig? or announce to the world she is doing porn even though this will likely hurt her career in the future?

She's pretty and took the easy way to make money.

Nothing wrong with it, but people saying it takes courage...
Anyone, and I mean anyone can sell their bodies for money.

More then just the employment record...the problem with this story spreading is that she'll have problems when any potential employer Googles her name.

"Miriam Weeks, huh? Let's see...high honors at Duke, everything checks out...let's just check her Facebook page / whatnot to make sure there isn't anything she's hiding.

Okay...Google...Miriam...Weeks..."

"She was...a porn star?"

^ And then they decide not to hire her because of it and use a bullshit, generic excuse like "We don't think you'll be a good fit for our law firm."

Since her father is supposedly a doctor in Spokane, WA according to internet detectives, money would have most likely only been an issue if her parents were unwilling to fund her education. I don't agree that she should be shamed any more or less than anyone else taking any other job to support themselves, or even doing something they enjoy (that doesn't harm others).

Is this the "I have a black friend" of being a misogynist? Sex is nothing to be afraid at or mad at, bro.

Let me put it this way. I am quite sure she underestimated how difficult this would make her life, but the fact is now that she's done it she's stuck with the consequences, and if she wants to have a successful career she's going to have to work very very hard in order to make that a reality. As a result, either she will fail, in which case society will forget about her pretty quickly and no harm will be done to anyone but her, or she will eventually succeed, in which case I think you could argue society will benefit as a whole, because she will have probably created several important precedents.

If you look at it that way, there's really no reason not to be supportive of her at this point in her life; she'll need all the help she can get and personally I hope she does succeed, even if it comes at an unfairly high price.

I don't know, if she is that smart would she have taken Facial Abuse as her first porno gig? or announce to the world she is doing porn even though this will likely hurt her career in the future?
Woah, FacialAbuse? Does she want to get rid of her gag reflex?

Good on her on doing this, I hope society flips around in the near future and porn (and other careers like exotic dancing) isn't viewed with such negativity, especially considering how expensive college is.

So, now according to Gaf I have to respect people who are in porn!? What is this shit!? I can't wack it to people I respect!

Meh...I think back to that girl who graduated from Duke a few years ago, fucked a bunch of guys and all she got was a thesis out of it.
