Duke's Freshman Porn Star Reveals Herself

I applaud our adult entertainment actors for all that they do for us, and wish her the best. However, I don't like how she's blaming this on Duke. I have no love for Duke and their overpriced education, but it's not like she's entitled to go there. There are other options. Much cheaper (and arguably better) options.

It additionally further perpetuates the porn star stigma by her giving the impression that she's forced in to this/this is her last resort/she wouldn't be doing this if tuition wasn't so damn high. It kind of undermines the argument that doing porn isn't (morally) dubious.
actually this sums up my thoughts too.

Also people are surprised that employers wouldn't hire a prior porn star? My god guys. There's companies out there that will write you up for wearing open toed shoes. You really think that they're gonna be ok with their clients being like "saw your employee in porno the other day..."

And now the real lols begin...

Dear Mr. Bagley,
First off, I would like to thank you for being such a fan of our business. For someone who subscribes to a site like Facial Abuse I want to commend you for spending the $200 a week your parents send you every week for living expenses wisely. Facial Abuse is a great site! There is nothing like watching a new girl getting a huge cock viciously rammed down her throat. I like your taste!

I want to also commend you on getting accepted into Duke. Great school! I am sure your parents are proud. I bet you pull straight A's when you're not whacking it to Facial Abuse and Casting Couch movies. I love our fans and I love you! You are the type of guy that makes our business move.

With that I would like to make you an offer. As I sit here in my office at 6:30 on a Wednesday night I am writing a check for $10,000 to pay to the order of Thomas Bagley. I want to give you the opportunity to live out all your fantasies. In addition to that 10K, there is a plane ticket and hotel room with your name on it out here in sunny Los Angeles. Screw the polar vortex. Get your ass out and come shoot for us! I will give you the opportunity to bang ANY porn star you want. We will make you a celebrity because it is apparent how much you love porn and attention.

10 Grand is a lot of money for a kid like you. Do you know how many porn memberships you could buy with that? That is more than a lifetime membership to Facial Abuse!

I ask that you seriously consider our offer. Any girl you want! Come out to LA and become a star. ALSO, for every inch you are packing over 4, I will throw in an EXTRA $1,000. Get your tiny pecker out here and become the next Ron Jeremy kiddo!

All my best,

Mike Kulich

Outing a guy who actually pays for porn in this day and age? That's not going to backfire on them with their other customers...not at all.

I think don't think he's gonna lose any sleep over it, but it is nice that you are concerned for him.
How about you not put words into my mouth? My point was if you're a guy paying for access to these websites you're clearly laboring under the misapprehension that your transaction data is going to be kept secure. Now that this has clearly been shown to be false, why would their other users continue to risk paying them? This guy can white knight for this girl all he likes, that doesn't make it a good business decision.

Who is Mr Bagley? a teacher? was he the one speaking against her? I don't understand the point of such a ridiculous letter, people in porn do really act like teenagers.

edit: oh it was the bully, the outing could have been handled so much better though, I hope they don't really thought they were being the better person there.

I think he's the other Duke student/FA subscriber who recognized her and revealed her real name (before she tried to get out in front of it by revealing it herself).

Thinking about this now, I'm wondering just how bad outing a porn star's real name is. On the one hand, I think it's obviously a mean thing to do considering she took steps to conceal it in the first place, but on the other hand I don't think it's as bad as outing a gay person for example. Maybe they're equally bad? I don't know.

Don't know if it's him, but this all started when she told one person about it. He, obviously being of fine moral character, didn't manage to keep this secret for a whole day. Apparently he was trying to get into a frat and decided to sell her out in an attempt to make himself popular amongst the bros.

Exposing hypocrites is worth a potential financial hit, imo, and I imagine Kulich feels the same. Sometimes being the good guy has consequences.

Anyway, without evidence to suggest it, I don't have reason to believe that the majority of folks who pay for porn are as unethical, or as foolish, as Duke student Thomas Bagley, so they have little to worry about.

Serious case of facial abuse.

lol.

It's not just top-tier universities that have skyrocketing tuition rates. Even colleges are starting to raise their tuitions to obscene levels.

Here in Canada where students have to pay one-third of the tuition cost, post secondary institutions are trying to recoup their costs with non-academic fees because the government refuses to fund the other two-thirds. Or so they say, because less and less money is trickling down to the students.

Sounds like she's aware that if a college freshman male was found out to be in porn, he would be high fived by his peers. In her case, she's shamed, but its worth it because she's using it to pay her way through college. Also, its a minor protest against rising tuition.

Considering most male pornstars have to start out in gay porn, I doubt college bros would be giving out high fives.

Does she do interracial?

The person who wrote that letter isn't affiliated with facial abuse. Lol at the idea that you have to be a member of any site to see its scenes. The porn industry would be thrilled if that was the case, but it simply isn't.

people in the us tend to focus on the sticker price of tuition, which is what was posted earlier in the thread (45k or so). the average student does not pay that. according to the us government, the tuition bill for the average student is around half of that.

search for duke here:
http://www.whitehouse.gov/issues/education/higher-education/college-score-card

universities have done a pretty bad job of advertising that almost no one pays full price for tuition. a good way to think about tuition at a place like duke is that its a progressive tax. the wealthy pay full price while those that cant afford it tend not to.

this is not to say that there arent private colleges and universities where students pay a ton of money. but duke and a lot of the other universities with large endowments lean on them more than they rely on tuition from students.

The reason that girl is giving doesn't make much sense. If she already knew that she won't be able to afford 50k per year then why didn't she go to a cheaper state university which could even be better than Duke?

Also it's not like she is studying at prestigious MIT or Harvard like university where one might even think of such kind of actions. Plus she is majoring in women studies, so automatically no job post graduation. Overall seems like a very stupid decision to me.

Yeah, how dare she major in women studies! What a moran!

How many kids can afford 50k a year?

The point is to make as much money as possible to leave school with as little crippling debt as possible.

Well if she's going to school to get a job it sure isn't the best degree. If she's going for fun then sure. You can get almost any job with almost any degree if you play your cards right but it's a big headwind.

Many people see Duke as a elite university (easily in the top 10 nationally), so its name definitely carries weight.

Maybe she wants to teach? Or just in general wants to do something to help women? Your view is really, really shortsighted.

She's said in interviews she wants to be a lawyer. You don't have to have a specific degree to get into law school, so women's studies is as good as anything and it's directly relevant to the area she wants to practice in.

Damn I just realized she has to pay for law school after FOUR years at Duke. She's really not thinking this through.

I would have went to a community college and saved money. Taken two years anywhere that isn't a joke and then applied to law school. At that point if you gotta make sexy movies to get the law degree then go ahead.

Well, she was planning on going to law school. You can get into law school with any degree, provided you have good LSAT scores and GPA.

Duke is a very prestigious university.

You wouldn't have the networking of a prestigious school.

Wouldn't the law school matter more than 4 years at Duke? That's the same in both scenarios it's just how she gets there.

Not necessarily. At these schools you (or folks, or loans from banks) are paying for the connections and the name that will open some big refined doors. I think that gets lost on people only looking at sticker prices, networking with the right people lands you great jobs.

You wouldn't have the networking of a prestigious school.

Yep.

I mean being serious for the first time in the thread I really don't see why this is an issue. This isn't exactly any more damning than working as a stripper to pay for school. You do what ya gotta to make your dream real.

And she is. I don't know. Maybe its because I've never really thought of human sexuality as a reason to feel shame. We all got the parts, some are just lucky to be paid to use them. If it's your choice then go right ahead. Use what ya got. The only problem I see is how... repressed most of society is.

It definitely can be used against her, even if it shouldn't be.

I don't think I agree with that though. I mean if someone graduates from SDSU or some state college but then gets into like a Ivy League law school they're not gonna be thinking "damn I wish I had gone somewhere nicer for my bachelors."

But she obviously should have been an engineer!!!!!! It's really bizarre anyone is criticizing her major. Oh, wait, its actually a very common thing for republicans/libertarians.
