• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

E3 2006's comin up, what are you hyped about?

Revolution and PS3 announcements and maybe actual games. Let's see what both systems can do. I'd love some new PSP game announcements that I care for, and the PC scene would be lovely with a ton of SPORE and hopefully a Diablo 3 announcement. For the Xbox 360 I'm really hyped to see what the hardware can really do with some development time behind it. Really looking forward to Silicon Knights game, Mass Effect, Halo 3, and whatever LionHead is cooking.

Will GAF be able to handle E3 this year? I don't think the boards went down last year, but this E3 is way more important than the last.

Last year was pretty big. The expected unveilings of three consoles (sans what we'd seen already of 360 in the run up to it). Many people considered that it would be the biggest ever (and probably was, at least for the first day, the conferences). This E3 has potential to top it, I guess, particularly over the length of the show, but I think GAF will hold up if it held up last year.

no, with delicious grilled onions and peppers as well (if you like).

anyways, these things can't really only exist in los angeles right?

I don't think it will be a problem. I've been around here since 99 and GAF has survived each and every E3. Some were more problematic than others ("Server too busy, try again later", for instance), but it was still possible to get in there.

You mean Halo 2 Part 2.

You mean Halo Part 3

As much as I am looking forward to the next Mario, Pikmin, Metroid games on Revolution...I just feel like I'd be disappointed if there wasn't a substantial emphasis on all-new gaming experiences that don't simply use existing franchises and their constraints. Obviously, I am assuming that Nintendo are going to roll out the new shit as well. Unfortunately, I think my PhD deadline is in late-May...great timing

goldcampaign1_800.jpg

yeah.

MS: hopefully something of halo 3 is revealed. an annou7ncement trailer if you. seems likely. other then that, i wanna see more of all the big titles on the horizion including mass effect, the darkness, and gears of war. hopefully there will be some big titles revealed as well. forza 2 and shadowrun?

PS3: i wanna see some actual games, GT5 especially. of course i expect tons of killer game trailers to be shown (a new MGS one! :O). i'm most excited to see the ps3, obviously cause so little is known at this point.

REV: honestly dont care. i may be singing a different tune after seeing it work, but for the time being it doesnt have a snowballs chance in hell in getting a purchase from me

Zelda: Twilight Princess

Nintendo Revolution

Super Mario (128) Rev. - if it ever sees the light.

Metroid Prime 3

Zelda NDS

FF 3 NDS

FF 5 GBA

FF 6 GBA

FF Tactics GBA

PlayStation 3 and Revolution will obviously take center stage, but I think 2nd gen Xbox 360 stuff will end up just as impressive in it's own right. I expect tons of promising 3rd gen DS & PSP games and possibly even a few nice surprises for late term PS2/GBA/GC/Xbox releases.

What do you guys think the reaction over the Rev's in game graphics will be like on GAF?

As long as it looks like (RE4 or BLACK) x 2 then I think most people will be satisfied. For those of us with SDTVs I'm hoping the difference won't be substantially worse than first gen X360 games.

I really hope a new FPS is shown off for the Revolution too. I also fully expect this forum to disintegrate a full hour before Nintendo's Press Conference.

The rev and PS3 will take centre stage this year.

MS doesn't really need to impress in the same way. If they have a solid lineup of games, they could probably get away with being rather low key, a bit like the DS last year.

Nah, Steven Kent will reveal their secrets the day before like usual, so the meltdown will occur around that time.

Things I'm excited:

New HW showing - namely PS3 and NRV, and sleek NDS lite.
New MGS4 trailer
2nd generation of X360 games and perhaps early look on 3rd gen X360 games.
NRV software lineup - specificially very interested in the rev-mote controller.

Things I'm NOT excited about this e3...

Lameass, rushed launch titles for PS3. (for some reason, I can't think that way for NRV though.)
New MGS4 trailer. (it's just a teaser, and it only makes the wait harder.)

I think it'll be comparable to the move from Chihiro to Lindbergh, the specs we've gotten so far indicate a similar sized jump in chipset generations and RAM.

Metroid Prime 3, from what I've heard, is going to be quite the showstoppah. Oh, and Revolution itself and its other secrets. Super Smash Bros., and whatever Miyamoto is working on. I can't wait.

I'm excited for Revolution and PS3 stuff. I'd love to hear a KOTOR III announcement, but with Mass Effect, I guess that might not happen.

However, I really hope that TP is out before then. I don't want to see it at a THIRD E3 before its release.

You work in the industry or something? :)
(because of the 'from what I've heard' part)

So, what is everyone on this board actually going to E3? No one else is psyched to have their own In-Home E3, covered in Cheetos dust, playing the first level of Lost Odyssey?

Just me...?

1. 2nd Gen of X360 games.
2. Reading Hands-on Rev gameplay/controller accounts.
3. Ps3 shootin its load all over the place.
4. Gaf's reactions to all of the above.

Yearly GAF meltdown and emotional rollercoasters, anything else is just icing on the cake :D

i'm sorry, sir, this post implies Zelda and Revmote Mario are not reasons to create long lines! To which I say, be gone with you!

What I meant, was people standing in line, to standing in line. 'What is going on here!? Has to be good!!'
Majority of people in the Nintendo lines last year had no idea what they were in line for.

ah, yeah that basically just sounds like the Planetgamecube and AdvancedGCN rejects

Mistwalker's games, MGS4, and the remake of FFVII. I mean, it's now or never. Get your shit together Square and give everyone what they want!

I don't know what so many people had problems with.

I had a *GREAT* time last year at E3, and this year is even more exciting.

Can't wait to go again.

I hope I can go this year if Gamespy allows me to go. Plus I have to save 500 dollars before going to E3, so I can actually go in the first place. :)

definately all the consoles, any new Ys game, MSG4, Project Assasins, any new game out there....

ms-halo 3, some live arcade stuff.

ps3- a playable game, at least for people to argue over its graphics.

rev- Mario

ds- hopefully a zelda game

psp- ? i dont know, just hope to see a good game.

Surprisingly, they are only available in LA, and only in downtown or Hollywood. I've been up and down California and Mexico and can only find them here in LA. I've had friends that have left LA and as soon as they come back the first thing they want is a dirty hot dog.

The thing I'm most hyped about is to see what Microsoft is going to show. Can't wait to see the exclusive high profile SE RPG!

On a close second place there's Sony finally telling me when I'll be able to buy their beast, how much I'll have to pay for it and what games will be there at launch. Hopefully this year they'll also show something exciting for the PSP.

Third place goes to Sega's phantomatic MEGA-ANNOUNCEMENT that will give big hopes to every Shenmue fan, but will turn out as something crappy like Matrix online.

Nintendo Revolution. Pricing, launch software, upcoming software. These are the three most important things to me about this system. I figure its either PS3 or Revolution so E3 2006 is the determining show. If Revolution fails to impress me, I'll go to a game store and put down money on a PS3 pre-order since I know it will have a lot of good games.

That is all.

Let's just hope they sort out the food & drink situation this year - I mean, 40 Mins for a Starbucks!

I'll just be happy if I get a little alone time with Loco Roco :)

Why would you be excited to be disappointed by the Revolution?

:lol that zelda video cracks me up everytime funny stuff.

anyway, the thing I'm most excited about is definitely the Revolution I want to see that damn thing working and I want to see someone using the controller while playing game just to see how it works. also the PS3, a new metal gear solid 4 trailer please :)

Pretty much my take. But add "stronger PSP lineup."

If that were the case, wouldn't we also be getting HD resolutions? ;)

I hope they reconsider and allow for higher resolution support. That would, of course, require significantly stronger hardware, and I doubt they will opt for that...

Between that post, and your avatar, you just became my favorite poster.

As for E3, i'm hoping to see some details on prices and launch dates for the PS3 and Rev. I'm also looking forward to seeing what stuff is comming down the pipeline for the DS and PSP.
