EA: our next-gen software is nothing short of astonishing

I wonder if MS locked up their announcement for their event, or if EA wants to save all the hype for E3? Seems counter-productive because if EA is the only people with a next-gen military FPS at Microsoft's event, then they have the jump on Activision.
 
Battlefield 4
Mass Effect 4?
Dragon Age 3?

But without numbers, like KZ Shadowfall and Infamous SS.

So something like Battlefield Future something, Mass Effect Retribution and Dragon Age Requisition?

I honestly think that numbered sequels might die next gen. In order to avoid it, devs will name their games accordingly.
 
So what nextgen games do we know EA is working on?

Dragon Age 3
Battlefield 4
All the sports games- Madden, FIFA

Are those the only ones that seem likely to be at around launch?

Obviously then you have the next Mass Effect and whatever Visceral is likely working on. What else?
 
I'm puzzled as to why EA is bothering to sink so much money on a title like Battlefield 4, on outdated hardware models that are going extinct?

Consumers are choosing to play on tablets and smartphones and it's there that EA should concentrate on delivering the definitive Battlefield 4 experience.

Mirror's Edge 2 is in development, and NFS titles.

Ugh, don't get me started. I remember so excited for that, The Godfather, and a few other games that turned out to just have CGI trailers. Looking back it's so clear that they were fake because of the perfect animations and collision detection.
 
I believe them, but why they didn't show anything at the Sony conference? I was waiting for some Fifa or Madden just to see how good the graphic will be. A big missed opportunity IMO.
 
I actually was expecting to see Dragon Age 3 at the Playstation meeting, given that EA and Sony had been seeming to get really chummy in the wake of the tight Activision-Microsoft relationship.

I still wouldn't be shocked if it's a launch title.

battlefield/fifa/madden. sounds about right now that they've destroyed all their other franchises. cant wait to see the innovative new ways they've designed to fleece consumers

It's a shame, albeit not surprising that they didn't come anywhere near that this generation. Maybe this generation we'll get defenders that don't run single-file behind each other....
 
I am really excited for next-gen RPG's, and I'm hoping Bioware manages to redeem the Dragon Age franchise. After playing ME 3 I couldn't believe why everyone disliked it, because I thought it was an amazing game with a mediocre conclusion, so I'm very excited for more Mass Effect.

Would be nice, but I'm not expecting that EA Sports puts in any more time than it has to. Once you get the license you have carte-blanche to not give a shit I guess.

This thread has made me realize that I need a Madden vent session. Outside of never hitting that target render, the progress in Madden 13 should have happened earlier in the current-gen life cycle. Madden IMO is at least 2-3 years behind where it should be without/with competition.

I wonder if they're going to strip the next-gen Madden of all its features again? There's no way right? There's no way they'd do that, right?

a definitive BF 4 Experience is an impossibility on tablets or smartphones, what you will get at best is a semi-shitty experience

SP was not even in the first BF titles.

BF is all about multiplayer and has always been.
SP was just added to appease the dudebro console demographic

People on GAF were very much sceptical of what happened and didn't condone these actions.
Valve employees are among the happiest known to mankind.
Except those 25, when was the last time Valve fired someone?

Does Valve have hundreds? EA fired a % of their work force. Would be interested to see it compared to the % Valve fired
 
They would say that but I am interested to see what they do with Fifa and any new IPs that they might be working on.
 
So, if their next gen games are so awesome why aren't they bothering trying to build hype for them by showing us stuff? All we know about is Battlefield 4, the usual sports games, and maybe Mirrors Edge 2.

Well one of the next gen consoles was only revealed three days ago and the other one doesn't officially exist yet. From E3 onwards you can bet EA will be ramming their next gen offerings down our throats.

That's probably what they are making. We know about what they are making. Unless you are holding out hope for Dead Space 4, I don't know what else you can be expecting from EA.

New NFS game, maybe pull an old franchise out and make something cool with it.
 
I was surprised and disappointed that EA weren't at the PS4 event.
The two games that I am desperate to see are:

UFC
Respawn's game

I would love to see Mirrors Edge 2 as well but doubt it's coming... Even a re-make of the first with shinier graphics would be amazing.
 
I thought EA did a pretty damn good job this generation. I guess it's still cool to hate on them though.
