Nintendo are nothing if not the kings of missed opportunity. Region-locking, no unified accounts driving people away, lack of content on Virtual Console... why do they hate money so much?

Honestly, the best part of Miiverse are the drawings. Imagine if every gif on Neogaf instead was a drawing and some of it was drawn by people with talent.

Oh, the account is separate from the machine. It's just that there's a 1 device activation limit (which will be extended to 2: 1 Wii U and 1 3DS on Monday/Tuesday) and no interface for consumers to de-authorize systems or log into different on their own, effectively making the account tied to the machine(s) unless you can get a benevolent support rep on your side.
After the updates accounts will now be able to have one 3DS and one Wii U associated with them. The feature for de-authorizing devices is in another castle.

You only say this because you don't use it. I FORCED myself to start using it recently during SM3DW and it really adds to the experience. Give it a go.

Just give us the Cranky Miiverse community already. Although even a DKCR(3D) community on both 3DS and Wii U would suffice, I suppose.
More than that, though.
It allows for easy uploading of screenshots and the instant ability to comment on a game or get help.
It can also be integrated directly in to a game so you don't even have to leave what you're playing to see what everyone is saying.

Getting rid of FC's and unified wallet are a waste of time? I know we want more from Nintendo, but at least they're taking steps toward getting things right.
Just an FYI, remember that they disabled the ability to take the screenshots off of miiverse and embed the image elsewhere.
