I'm absolutely against sexism and objectification, especially when a considerable part of the video games industry is so juvenile and toxic so for me this is a great thing and a step in the right direction. This sort of thing shouldnt be in video games where its all about having fun and not about reducing women to their breast, body and so on

Michele

you.
...........This made me blush. I'm pretty sure Era will have imploded by now.

I don't see why remove the breast jiggle. It's how it is supposed to work, and it's supposed to entrance guys... no offense to women intended.

Yes real life is extremely sexist, we should sue real life for creating physics and boobs. I have an idea lets create a morbidly obese guy with man breasts in Fortnite and make his boobs jiggle, lets see if all these idiots care then.

I'm pretty sure that would be called fat shaming. :lollipop_grinning:

Man, we dodged a bullet here!
It's hard to quantify the amount of emotional damage the almost imperceptible wiggle on some cup-b virtual tits could have done.

You're outta your mind if you think the slightest amount of jiggle, aka something breasts in real life do, is an actual problem that needed to be removed.

Replacement levels on largely unsustainable populations. The world needs far fewer people versus more. The argument for replacement is driven by short-term economic factors, versus long-term ones. It assumes that where we are at from a global population perspective is ok, whereas in reality its already having a significant detrimental effect on the environment.

Can you imagine being the programmer / designer who put this in? I wonder what the pitch was like.

"Hey I want to make more realistic deformations, I think they're really cool."

Then they put it in. Barely noticable. But with the emotes and dances they have it does obviously weird crap, because, well, for it to work well you'd have to customize each animation with this in mind, and they can't retroactively do that to everything.

But really though, why? I wonder if it was an inside joke: "I bet I can get boob physics accepted" "Bet ya can't!"

And before more people goes "oh this is PC! omg, identity politics" no this is corporate (which a lot of things are these days, but that is what it is). They do not need this being a thing moms complain about watching little Timmy on his X-Box. That's a credit card purchase that's revoked. And believe it when I say a parent would be watching the game and notice something like this. Especially if Timmy got another character to run in to him trying to get the physics to weird out.

I understand, but what I cannot accept (and makes me week about parenting standards) is that the fact little Timmy is playing war and murdering other individuals causes no problem to anyone. What if on top of the violence the breasts were uncovered and jiggly? How can the latter be worse than the former or even remotely close to being as bad as that? Sigh...

It's a kidsy looking game. There's no blood and no necessary indication that the character even dies. They get teleported away upon their shield and health reaching zero. I think that's more than enough for a parent to overlook the aggressive aspect of the game in order to keep Timmy distracted.

The newer LEGO games have open world GTA-like environments where you kill other characters and their little LEGO bodies fall in to pieces. Is that bad?

We played cowboys and indians as kids (yes, I know it's sterotypical but I'm an old fart). I don't think it made me racist or violent.

Oh please, this isn't soccer mom's complaining.
They have breasts.

This is the typical, dye haired Twitter crowd who live for complaining about everything.

it was necesary put this thing in fortnite in the first place?
It's up to dev and honestly i don't care either way. Though I find a little odd about the way Epic PR responded as if as they made a terrible mistake.
Lol, "unintentional" :D
"Unintended"... Yeah that's a lie.

It goes through several checks before launching something like that, wouldn't just happen on its own!
They re-use the Epic skeleton which has breast physics enabled by default since bouncing breasts are a pretty natural thing and UE4 tries to capture realism.

I do believe leaving the breasts bouncing was unintentional. UE4 has a nasty little blueprints bug where reparenting a blueprint to another class causes all variables to reset. The jiggle multiplier is a structured class variable. My guess is they did some backend changes to the class, changed the parentage, and the physics asset reset all the variables. Then they just didn't think to set the jiggle multiplier back.

Personally I like the jigg.

Nah.

Wouldn't call streamers like TimTheTatMan, Sypher, and Lupo exactly "delicate." I mean, look at the response, they probably don't give a crap either way, but they know the optics are bad. Imagine the compilation videos alone, hell with the built in animator thing they have, would be so bad for Epic's optics.

Step away from the keyboard a bit and think about how the big mega corporate world works, they don't do these things because they're appealing to a particular audience, they do it to manage the optics. It's only a coincidence that the crowd you are annoyed by might use those tactics, but so does the "other side" in their own special way. It's only ironic that corporate indulgence of carefully curated media appears to be a left wing concession, but it really isn't new. You put two lesbians in a freaking Dove ad and suddenly you get people whining about diversity and giving free ad mind share for something wholesome.

Two Pikachus, didn't even occur to me that it could be a UE4 thing, but if it was that may be why it went unnoticed. Running around it is so subtle it's not a big deal, it's when the crazy dance animations happen that make it really apparant. I do think someone internal may have 'known better' though.

The apparent imbecility of this seemingly ulterior-motivated decision cannot be overstated.

So sensitive these people seem to want to appear, so empathetic, so zealous in their never unadvertised desire not to offend anyone on the planet that they now can't be told apart from 19th century Victorian puritans.

Sex is bad. Jiggling boobs are sexy and therefore bad. Boobs, made of concrete, don't jiggle anyway. And women don't have boobs either, because these days everyone is born androgynous. Cover it! Cover it all! For the displeasure of lewd men!

Playing by fighting is als old as time itself, maybe one day we will be able to grow out of it (there are evolutionary reasons why children, cubs, pups, etc... play fight).

Still, look at more teen and young adult oriented media, TV shows, and movies... violence is all around more tolerated and accepted in the U.S. as a part of life than nudity (or sex). Violence is easier to justify than nudity which is linked to sex which is still something you kind of should feel ashamed of although a necessary act to procreate.
Also, this game does not have DOA level of breasts jiggle or anything... it is ludicrous also how nobody noticed a large breasted braless female character until the breasts started to jiggle.
I am not advocating for pornogralhy without restrictions, but this is trying to have kids in a warped (leaking anyway) bubble that is nowhere near the reality they already live in.

Btw, did you breastfeed and if so with a bandage over your eyes :)?
What is the effect the naked human body does to people? Why are statistics on pornography consumed, prostitution, sexual assaults, etc... generally similar between super puritan countries and still quite sexist / a bit objectifying macho cultures where nudity is much much more common (live for years in the U.S. and years in Italy [public over the air TV broadcasting softcore porn after 11-12 P.M. unscrambled], done both ✅) not as dissimilar as that difference should suggest?

Man, what happened to the culture around gaming? I spend most my time in fan circles around games on art sites and Twitter and the acceptance of sex appeal is fine (look at Bowsette!) but then I look at gaming sites and it's stuff like this.

It was only a decade ago I was watching game journalists on Fox News defending sex scenes in Mass Effect, now I see game developers acting like even mild breast physics is so wrong it requires a public apology. It feels like I'm in the Twilight Zone. It's nearly every week where a game writer or developer is doing something like this.

Is gaming nothing but controversy now? It just happened with Tomb Raider, LoL with Riot's poor hadling of gender issues, Valkyria Chronicles 4, Spider-Man, it's every big game. I wonder what is going to be deeply offensive about AC: Odyssey...

If you ever went to the beach, you would have a heart attack with all those women objectifying themselves by wearing bikinis.

This whole controversy is complete bullshit. Heterosexual men like breasts since their child phase. It's natural. I remember being little and enjoying seeing the female form. I did not know why but I always enjoyed the view. Seeing a little jiggle won't make anyone sexist. It's just nature.

Didn't you get the memo? Heterosexual men like myself are a dying breed. You're only hip if you're into same sex relations, you are branded sexist for not being attracted to trans-folk, and while murder, gore and worse in games is fine...but tits? OMGWTFGTFO Something that you will either A) Have and play with, or B)Be extremely attracted to. Ugh this world is the worst

Jesus, Epic won't get a cent from me anymore. Fuck man, its like they're trying to make gaming, much less life, not fun anymore. I'm out Epic, you've lost the plot. I can't believe that suddenly its a crime to be a mammal. I wouldn't be surprised if women having breasts and evolution in general being blamed on the "toxic male patriarchy". Breasts are now a tool of hegemony.

It's true Africas population is unsustainable, they have above replacement level birth rates whereas whites in the west do not.

Fortnite characters have cartoon caricature exaggerated proportions and features everywhere already. Partly it's there to condition a body dysmorphia response from you; with $0 invested, your generic avatar swaps out between hyper-exaggerated man and hyper-exaggerated woman, and different ethnic/racial presets with universally exaggerated features to ensure that some part of you is uncomfortable. e.g. waking up to Freaky Friday.

It's under the guise of diversity, but in conjunction with the social hierarchies that form based on cosmetics, you're on the bottom rung of fortnite's social status and you're denied a sense of consistent identity with your avatar with those rotating non-skins.

The first step to address this as an end-user is buy into their operant conditioning battle pass scheme for $10 to at least get a consistent avatar, often with very few expressive features even compared to the rotating base models. Then you can enter their level up grind that becomes progressively harder in search of something that you can feel comfortable or proud or hot or cool or sexy using, usually not realizing how much the level up requirements are ramping up as you go (and on a season time limit), leading you straight into that $20 single skin or buying battle pass levels before the season ends. etc. etc.

No one seemed to be interested in a long format breakdown of Fortnite's f2p conditioning mechanisms so I didn't write up a post, but yeah, there's a lot going on there.

At any rate, It all revolves around playing dress up with exaggerated Ken and Barbie dolls. God forbid if anyone's breasts bounced realistically--or cartoonishly--in this money extraction sexy dress-up mass murder game.

Honestly, we accept and glorify gratuitously violent and gory video games, profanity and rebellion, yet any ounce of femininity is looked down in or even ridiculed in this selectively political correct society. I like gta and all, but it’s not remotely close to a coincidence it’s like the best selling game of all time while games like Dead or Alive are looked down on.

Maybe the violent guns in Fortnite which kill people in real life should be replaced by paint guns like Splatoon or something? Nah, shooting and killing people is fine in games.

Well, while running they look quite good, in that twitter post in the OP there’s clearly something weird going on. I‘d say, take them out, fix them, put them back in 🤪

On the other hand, it’s hardware strain for more or less nothing of relevance. Hm.

I asked in a gaf thread a few months ago and little to no interest was expressed, but times change too and Gaming side is much more active now so I'll see what I can whip up. :messenger_smiling:

They will hunt us down in the street for impure thoughts eventually.

It's ok though, these people will die off when the idea of reproduction offends them too much.

I’m sorry but isn’t the whole point of the female body to attract males? And that’s why mammaries jiggle. That’s what theyre intended to do from an evolutionary stance. So why are we covering up the gazongas in a silly videogame? Should we be putting our women in burkas too? I don’t understand culture anymore, I just don’t. But fun bags should bounce. That’s what they do in real life. FREE THE FUNBAGS PEOPLE. FREE THEM.

Things I just realized will happen next:

1) the next Halo game is probably now screwed unless they devote a 15 minute cut scene to master chief body shaming Cortana for not covering up her blue buxomness.

2) molded tit armor will be melted down in the next Skyrim game and made into spiked maces for men to flagellate themselves with for daring to think impure thoughts about cleavage.

3) princess peach now wears a barrel with straps. Good luck finding mammaries to ogle now you dirtly pervs.

4) all capcom female characters are now fully blurred out of games. Period.

I am tempted to interpret the spokesperson a little bit different... it seems to be embarrassing to him/Epic, that the function is looking a bit off or "wrong"... not that the function itself is in there. Maybe they will patch it, to better work in game. But I can be also very wrong.
And yeah... dat clipping tho... :messenger_poop:
