I'm about halfway through Yakuza 0, and I have not played any of the other Yakuza games (yet). I think the only thing you would possibly miss out on may be call backs to the other games or references/easter eggs. That said, this is purely me speculating - I haven't found myself feeling lost or confused by jumping in at this game. I am sure someone with a more thorough knowledge of the series will be able to answer this better. But I highly recommend it though. It's ridiculous in the best way possible.

Also, can anyone tell me if Unravel is any good? £3.99 seems like a good price to jump on, but I can't remember what the general reception of that game was at release.

It's a very special, very unique, and very well made game.

That said, if you are very opposed to (fairly) lengthy cutscenes, you might want to give it a swerve.

Yup, all the references are pretty much just little nods that veterans will get a smile out of, but almost everything will still be just as new to them as it is to newcomers to the series.

It's the best entry point into the series now, and you can then follow it up with Yakuza: Kiwami, the remake of Yakuza 1, which is coming out in Summer of this year!

Yakuza 0 is a prequel to all the mainline games so from a story perspective it's probably the best to jump in.
