Good point. Nintendo has to make money on HW and SW, this is what they do, only this, even if they have a lot of money, they cannot burn money like MS and Sony.
Even if they don't sell as much as MS or Sony they can still make money, so this is not about competing with MS and Sony, this is about them making money and surviving as a company.
Really~?
360 leads PS3 by a large margin so this is a big disaster as it indicates UK is no longer xbox territory, much like USA.
Microsoft sold 170k in a week? Damn UK is going to be a battlefield for Sony and Microsoft, a 80,000 difference isn't too bad. Microsoft is going to have to go in HARD to try and win the UK again.
How did the Vita launch in the UK? It's only seemed to pick up a little traction with all the deals lately.
Sony clearly has the upperhand and momentum going forward. They may have also won this battle but most certainly haven't won the war. But getting the consoles into as many people's hands as possible early, is only going to aid them later on. XBone will slow down quicker due to it's price too and once January rolls round it might not be great reading for them until there's a big marketing push again in March with Titanfall bundles (or possibly price cuts/Kinectless SKU if sales go worse than they were hoping).

UK appears to buy consoles as I do - main console purchase is for the one where multiplats play the best. So straight out of the gate MS is already in trouble. The UK software chart backs it up as well since multiplats are almost always dominating the top of the sales charts. 360 didn't clobber the PS3 in the UK because it came out first or was cheaper. It did so because it was the best console for multiplats. Xbox One being the weaker one for multiplats and also being more expensive is going to decide the fate of both consoles if MS doesn't do something drastic.
Wow UK market is tiny, why does it get so much attention?

I remember when the WiiU was first announced, people were like "there's absolutely no way Microsoft and Sony will give up a year head start to Nintendo!"
lol.
Because it's an absolutely terrible value proposition console compared to the competition, that doesn't have enough games people want to play and no unique hook for the market.
I'm continually shocked when people act surprised about the Wii U's commercial performance. I know there's a lot of pro-Wii U rhetoric around at the moment but from the conception to the delivery, the Wii U has been fucking dreadful so far.
The Wii was a colossal success here until it dropped off a cliff like everywhere else in the world.

They need to make people understand.
I see your point and I'm buying a PS4, but 170k for Xbone isn't bomba
Its a issue MS need to address certainly. It'll be £350-£370 in six months tops

I can only hope this is in some part related to region locking and Nintendo learns a lesson from it.
I know many Americans don't get the issue with the practice, but people in PAL territories certainly should.
What do you mean? Low sales? No way region locking has an impact at all.
What If Xbox One DRM was never reversed?
Could y'all imagine?

Sony's PlayStation UK arm has said that it'll do its best to fulfil the demand from gamers still waiting for the PS4 in the UK.
In a note sent to MCV, UK MD Fergal Gara said, "We are delighted by the initial sales of PS4 and are proud to have set new records for a UK console launch.
"In particular, I want to thank all the gamers who have waited patiently for PS4 and who have come out to support PlayStation. I also want to thank all of our retail and publishing partners who have helped make this possible by delivering huge sales in a very short period of time and great games for PS4.
"Since the initial announcement back in February, pre-orders for PS4 have surpassed all expectations and we continue to work hard to fulfil the remainder of these pre-orders and to deliver additional consoles to the market for the many more gamers who want a PS4. Substantial further volumes of PS4 will arrive in the UK before Christmas."

So what this is getting at:
PS4: 125k per day (5.2k per hour)
Xbone: 12.1k per day (506 per hour)
U: 411 per day (17 per hour)
Extrapolating, we can see that this time next year, the PS4 will have sold 45.8 million (just in that one region, astonishing), Xbox One 4.5 million, and Wii U only 300,000. Let me know if I got the math wrong, but it looks like we'll have some unprecedented numbers here.
Yeah, Titanfall could score 10s across the board, but the price is going to continue to be a huge factor.
MS could do something with value adds. Titanfall, free gold sub and perhaps one more free title (from the first party launch selection) for £429 could make it more attractive than £429 or £449 for just a Titanfall only bundle.
I wonder how Respawn feels right now. It can't be a good feeling when you are trying to build a new IP and it isn't going to be available on the best selling next gen platform.
The higher price point of XB1 is going to hurt the adoption of TitanFall as well. The money hat EA took only helps themselves.

What a ridiculous post...so in day 3 when there is no more PS4 stock...what do you think will happen to this number? Come on man... Let me help you out...so in day 3 when there is lets say 5k moved because of stock...the daily total drops to 85k...you follow? Lets say in day 4 when there is another 10k moved (again because of stock)...that drops to 66k...you getting this?
Most people have said that XOne is supply constrained in the UK...
Are you?
Every single unit on the shelves.
So, about 37.
Don't follow...
