Far Cry Primal announced: Trailer, PC/PS4/XB1, February 2016, $59.99

Guys its ok.

We're probably getting dinosaurs in an alternate history what-if DLC expansion

Be sure to pony up for dat season pass

I find it baffling you are complaining about same old far cry shit while crying for same old far cry shit

And you are posting it without realizing how silly you sound.

Yeah, I can see how it might come off that way, but to be clear

Far Cry 2 = good
Far Cry 3, Far Cry 4 = formulaic Ubisoft garbage
Blood Dragon = formulaic Ubisoft garbage, but I enjoy it's aesthetic, so I'll allow it

What sounds silly is pretending that people asking for change in the AAA space means taking the guns out of established shooter franchises. Imagine if Activision released a COD game with no guns. Many people would not be thrilled.

Really don't see the point of adding Far Cry to the name besides it being a established name in the industry but it should really be it's own IP.

That is exactly what I did with Far Cry 4. Bought the Gold Edition for 35 euros packed with every single DLC.

Never do these games warrant the full price in my opinion. This one might be different, but I am definitely going to take this one with a pinch of salt because it is always going to be Ubisoft.

I've had 20-30 hours of fun in FC3 and 4. I'd say that's worth it.

My worry is not having the helicopter and grenade launcher. That combo made FC4 absolutely amazing.

The setting sounds cool but I need some proper gameplay which I imagine is coming soon, but also fuck it comes out so close to XCOM 2, Deus ex and mirror's edge.

They really took the worst parts of Far Cry 4 and made another game out of it. Did they really think people enjoyed the Shangri-La sections or hunting animals?

Normally am not into this series or first person shooters, but I really do like the setting its in. I might check it out.

I like what I see. FC4 was visually stunning but boring theme wise.

This looks beautiful and interesting even tho we know its a ubi rinse and repeat game. The theme is enough for me to give it a chance

February 2016 is gonna be crowded.

Deus Ex: Humankind Divided
Mirror's Edge Catalyst
Gravity Rush Remastered
Far Cry: Primal

And Tom Clancy's The Division at the beginning of March.

I want to reward them for waiting until 5 months out to announce. Seriously, I wish more publishers would do that.

Game looks great. Far Cry minus guns could be an interesting wat to shake up the UbiSoft formula.

And we come back to those popular survival games have guns and are set in modern times or have zombies.

This one it set tens of thousands of years ago and has no guns and the advanced tech was a bow and arrow. Games set in the stone age are rare as fuck and ones set in the stone age and are somewhat true to the setting are practically nonexistent.
Stomping Grounds? Rust? Ark (for a large part of the game)? Before? Wild? I know Day Z and H1Z1 are two of the biggest ones, but I wouldn't call this a brand new idea or anything. I'm not saying it's going to be bad, I just don't think the idea is new at all.

It's kind of strange to see it announced for pc and current-gen only (this is good) and then seeing that visually it's not really better than Far Cry 4. I was sure a current-gen only far cry game would look really good visually. I really like the new spin on this on paper, but the environments in that trailer looked really boring visually compared to FC3 & FC4. Maybe I was imagining something like Apocalypto in terms of color palette :D The seemingly short dev cycle also worries me. I guess all in all this announcement has left me a bit cold so far. We'll see pretty soon how it is though.

It must be considered that there was no modern languages in stone age ( english, german, italian, russian etc. ). It will be odd for me to hear a caveman speak english in game. And i want hit a woman with a club! Make it happen!

Is a single one of those games out of early access? Only ones I've played from that list are Rust and DayZ.

Looks pretty cool tbh, though obviously we need to see more.

I loved Far Cry 4 so I'm open for another Far Cry with a more interesting setting (lack of guns is cool too)

what like... in the game, or

do we need to call the police

I don't know. Does it matter? The style has been around since like 2012 so I wouldn't be surprised if that's why this was chose.

So has pretty much every idea of a game coming from a major publisher. Were on like Cod9 and 7 or 8 Halo games deep. Are you upset that it's a game or something?

Even that aside, we're two months away from 2016 and none of those games have come out of early access. Early Access games tend to be janky as fuck and can be a real detriment to the idea behind the game.

Setting is awesome. I would love to play in this era. That said, I have gotten tired of the Ubi formula, and i'll have to wait and see how generic this one turns out to be

Can we get some terror birds?

I don't think those ever co-existed in one place with most of the more prominent ice age species. AFAIK, mammoths, for example, never lived in South America, whereas the so-called terror birds never made it out of South America. (Again, AFAIK. I'm not an expert.)

This looks great on paper. Again, this is Ubisoft. They have excited me and dissapointed me so much lately I find it hard not to be skeptical.

And giant crocs?

Aw yeah. This person, right here, gets it!

Sod dinosaurs, there's more than enough actual awesome and terrifying giant creatures from that era to try and kill us without resorting to the same old giant lizards.

I'm wondering how they're going to convey the story seeing as they speak in some made up Cavemen language.
