I can just imagine the game going silent except for your dampened footsteps and then suddently they pipe the scary noises through your remote... wrist strap definitely necessary for this game

They can do so much cool stuff with the Wiimote speaker alone, adds a whole new element.

These games aren't shooters at all, really. You use a camera in order to "kill" ghosts, but in general, you spent much of your time exploring various locales and solving puzzles. It's basically a graphic adventure with mild combat in the form of a camera. It becomes pretty intense, though, as ghosts can follow you through walls and such. There are no breaks between rooms either (no loading screens).

thanks. this sounds somewhat tempting. i haven't played a horror game since (i think) silent hill 3 (i played a bunch of obscure in co-op, but that doesn't count).

In Fatal Frame II and III the main character was also a hot girl

And the peering girl is not by far the worst i've seen in the series. Fatal Frame II is the only game who has managed to make me drop the controller screaming (after turning a corner, i was a few inches of distance of the ghost of a girl with long black hair...and the neck broken, looking at me with the mouth open and whispering "it hurts")

If they drop the "4" from the title, let it stand on it's own two feet and downplay it's roots and give it a push that way, maybe, just maybe, it has a chance. I think the fact that it's a sequel may be detrimental to it's success.
