FEEL THE BERN: Beware Dark Souls 3 PC/Steam users

giphy.gif

This is so accurate.

It was the first thing I thought of.

This guy must of hit hundreds of people with soft bans by now. With other people doing it as well their's not gonna be anyone left that isnt banned soon. This is kind of a major problem (slight understatement).

This sucks but he missed an amazing opportunity to use a Hammer weapon to get people banned.

*Turns offline mode on*

I don't think it's wrong to see a game with lots of cheaters on PC and say "I"m glad I'm playing on consoles."

Just like it's not wrong to see a fast-paced game that's locked to 30 fps on consoles, and saying, "I'm glad I'm playing on PC."

In this specific instance, the console version has a clear advantage.

Cheating is always going to be more of a problem on PC. That's just one of the downsides to having an open platform. Sure, good anticheat systems help, but those take time and effort to implement.

I'd still rather be playing the PC version of DS3 tbqh

Your remark on season one.

Fair enough. It's not my favourite anime by a long stretch (Evangelion and Steins;Gate just now), but the MMO idea just had me hooked.

Keep in mind I didn't really start watching anime seriously until last year. I have a ton of stuff to experience. I'm also an English dub peasant race. Just prefer things without subtitles.

Black Lagoon is what I'm finishing off right now, love it as well and good dub.

Eh, it gets a bit rocky, but I loved the concept and idea. Wish it was more fleshed out with MMO content.

Overall or my remark on season 2? I just couldn't get into the fairy stuff after season 1.

season 1 first half probably had the best plot and stakes, like you die in real life if you die in the game, them changing it up and all just bleh.

Going through his other videos, seems he's butthurt he got banned for hacking once.

I think getting dozens of people banned and complaining to Namco will probably light a fire under their ass to get it together at least.

I have a funny feeling if there was a button you could click that would make some random person on the other side of the world spontaneously combust, way too many people would never stop clicking that button.

One would hope.

If a button would give you great satisfaction but kill a random person in the world, people would press the fuck out of it.

Every human invader I've had all the way through NG and NG+ has actually been worse than the NPC invaders, so I can't say it feels like I'm missing out on much just switching to Offline Mode.

Well thank god their "ban" system is shitty enough that you can just go to one of your backup saves where you're not banned yet and go on your merry way.

Remember to keep a recent backup, you'll never know when you need it but you'll be glad if you have it!

EDIT: Wondered why "Feel the bern", but now it hit me - OP wanted to PSA us, right?

This is a terrible anti cheat system. If you have save backups, the end of this would be getting killed, returning to your world and restoring your save file, all good. At worst, if you had no backups, you could at least create a new character.

I've been invaded by hackers before. Then I restored my save and moved on with my day. Nature of the beast.

Fix your bullshit From.

I don't think it works that way. Your info gets sent to From for review, then they manually ban you. Save backups won't help for long.

Yesterday I got the "You cannot change equipment at this time" after I got invaded before the Tree boss, I hope it's not related to the ban.
I noticed I couldn't wear Sunbros ring, but I could change weapon, shield and armor.

Bans come in waves (for DS2 it was every Wednesday and Saturday iirc) -- once your data is flagged it's flagged for good, even if you restore it, afaik.

so, is it a good idea to make now another account on steam, gameshare the game on it and play ds3 on this new account until this thing goes on? (so if you get banned it's not so bad).
Am i wrong?

Bandai Namco support is saying otherwise, that you just have to remove whatever is triggering the "invalid game data" prompt ASAP to stay unbanned

Bandai's support for souls 2 bans was shocking and kept passing to from then from passed to bandai etc etc. Huge thread bout it on reddit regarding souls 2 with sweetfx etc

Not to be dismissive or anything but after what happened with DS2 softbans i wouldn't trust what Namco says. They gave out false info (knowingly or otherwise) then too. Seems like From runs the servers.
