It becomes a lot less funny when you look at past history with softbans and realize that "Temporary" punishment could very well be all but temporary.

Well, there are values that modify your visibility, since there's a ring that makes you invisible when you roll, so I guess it's just a matter of finding the proper value in RAM and modifying it.

Edit: If this guy gets banned, it wouldn't surprise me in the least that From just undid the last 48 hours of bans and he somehow gets included and goes right back it.

TBH I wish Valve had a policy agreement that allows them to ban people like this who are deliberately cheating and very clearly trying solely to harass other players and exploit systems.

playing offline negates all of that. And the game is still a meaty experience without any form of PvP, because that was the focus.

The only reason I brought this up is because the post I quoted said "he's stealing $60!" as if the game is made completely unplayable or invalid, when in fact the online aspect is not even remotely the biggest part of the game.

Hence my comment "more like $15" because it's a sizeable part, but the bulk of the game is still playable and is tuned to be played even without it.

The statement in bold couldn't be further from the truth for a LOT of people. Many, many people play DS mainly for PvP. He's clicking red summon signs in a pretty common fight club area, so it's highly likely that some of the people this is affecting are those who spend the majority of their time in PvP.

From never lifted any softbans that were given out wrongfully for DS2 (people picking up hacked items unknowingly, people restoring their saves after they got messed up by a hacker, etc) so I wouldn't hold your breath for them to lift them here.

Yeah logistically this should be easy to fix, given the time window is under 24 hours.

This ssort of thing was preventable in Ds1 with pvp watchdog apparently. But in Ds3 and 2 FROM chose to implement their own anti cheat system and the person who developed watchdog cant do any thing about it because the cheat system would detect the users and ban them.

In offline AI invades you at certain points.

You need to change OFFLINE in options and restart the game, in the main menu there should be a "Log In" option now, dont click it, press continue.

Sorry if someone's already posted this, this might be good to check out for what to do to prevent being softbanned https://www.reddit.com/r/darksouls3...the_facts_information_and_what_you_can_do_to/

Basically, back up saves and if you ever get the "invalid game data" message, restore your save with a previous one that hasn't been hit by anything that can trigger this "invalid game data". Softbans are in waves, so you still have time to evade a softban if you are hit. I'll be trying the back-up tool later when I get home

I really hope FromSoft actually does something about this. Even worse than DkS 2's softban system, and no one should have to take countermeasures because some ass wants attention by hacking/ running scripts

It's an automated system, a poor one at that, and something From need to fix, but as it stands they aren't essentially going on a manual banning spree and laughing manically. However 5 hours in and no action yet, it is poor. Especially when being livestreamed.

Nah, just from the username it was clearly a player. I needed to restart the game for offline mode to really kick in, I guess. Seems fine now.
