Fighting Games Weekly | May 12-18 | The Bracket Racket

Anyone read the FCBD Street Fighter #0 issue? Looks like the new series'll finally be about SF3.
Case in point:

I waited for BlazBlue CP to come to Europe. The game only come in digital version ok. But a 35€ digital version. Same price as a boxed version. -_-

What is the best option to get the game without selling my organs ?

Why is Necro with Bison? If this was going to be about SF3 at all, Necro wouldn't be alligned with anyone, let alone Bison. He should be dead.

Argh SF canon fuck. You got a link for this?

They also happen to mention Gill's organization as the Society, I'm just assuming Necro is being mind controlled or something.

So yesterday, I learned that the use of drugs in esports is somewhat of a problem. Players commonly take Adderall in order to improve their reaction times and to stay awake longer so they can increase their practice time. Even though I used watch competitive Halo pretty regularly, I had no idea those players were using this kind of stuff, I've lost a lot of respect for those players.

I hope adderall doesn't become as large a problem in the FGC as in the esports community.

Hmmmm...would make sense more or less.

Actually yeah, this could set up Effie breaking Necro out of the Society/Illuminati.

EDIT: Oh god this is an UDON series. ugghhhhhhh

We can't afford it

Team Stickbug this weekend will be the first BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma tournament after the patch.
I wonder if it'll be big. Last month there were 50+ for BlazBlue and Guilty Gear.

Only during breaks? Dammit, I wanted to see a lot more of the Mystery Game Tournament, not just short breaks....oh, Level Up? Okay we're good.

found an extra copy of Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution (PS2) lying around, would like to give it to a GAFfer who'll play it. lemme know if you're interested! it is disc-only.

ADHD meds help me a ton with MTG due to the micromanagement, but I actually have ADD and don't get high off them. (Brain just snaps into place.)

Nope, can't make the pools until everybody's registered. Brackets come later than pool announcements as well.

As in past years, LevelUp will be streaming mystery games during breaks in the action or gaps between matches.

damn, actually pool announcements are probably what I would like to see lol. I think that's what I meant. Guess I gotta hold that till later next week

Why speed the game up with Adderall when you can slow the game down with weed?

Marijuana: The FGC Drug of Choice.

They actually make my ADD worse. In the couple of times I've experimented with weed, its greatly helped me. Sadly I can't use it as its still illegal here and I'll lose my job if I use it.

Welcome to always facing top players

I'm fine with it. I like playing better players so I can push myself and try to do better in general.

The problem with me against Chi Rithy is that he mained Chun until AE started and that's a tough match for Chun on top of that. I'll still obviously put in my best efforts, but there's a lot stacked against me in this one.

Thanks for the recap. I'll be tuned in. Been waiting for this tournament for a long time, and Melee looks to be ridiculous.

Some SCV stuff:

There's 3 Japanese players in attendance with the other one being Wednesday who is a Yoshimitsu player.

The last time Japan went to France for SCV, they put the smack down on the French at World Game Cup last year by winning teams and singles. France was without their best player in Keev for WGC, but he's in attendance this year for ROF, so I'm excited to see him play.

Earlier in the week, Keev ran a set against Sawazuma who placed 2nd at WGC and is back in France for ROF. Give it a watch if you're interested.

I knew I forgot one, thank you! I was in fact one of the organizers of WGC last year, before it became IVGC when someone else took the tournament in hands. This edition was crazy. I remember eating pizza on the beach with SC5 players and Itazan in the middle of the night. :)

Looking forward to see Keev.

Capcom confirmed the games with gold version of AE can be upgraded to USF4. The bad news the games with gold version doesn't come out till the 16th so you have to wait 2 weeks for it.

Pool start time drama for UFGT? What's going on?

The tentative schedule changed after we posted it (less than 2 days later actually) to say that there might be pools for Injustice on Friday. The community is backlashing (with the usual anti-UFGT cheerleading from the CDjr/OBS side of the community) and I'm irritable.

UFGT has started on Friday for years (all games mind you, including SF and Anime), but its only ever NRS that gets in a tizzy over it.

I realize this is because the community feels disregarded a bit from last year (and somewhat rightfully so), but the possible pools expansion here is literally a preparation for their increasing registration. An expansion necessary to ensure UFGT can run with its usual stopwatch precision. So, arguably its a good thing?

They've got 5 full blocks of stream time too this year. We're actively trying to highlight the game (partially cause I love it).

But yeah, nobody read the paragraph about all games starting on Friday on the registration page. So we're bad guys. Again.
