Fighting Games Weekly | May 12-18 | The Bracket Racket

I guess I'm doing the Ultra OT.

PM me your GAF name, and what systems you plan on playing on including PC if you are, and usernames for them.

So yesterday, I learned that the use of drugs in esports is somewhat of a problem. Players commonly take Adderall in order to improve their reaction times and to stay awake longer so they can increase their practice time. Even though I used watch competitive Halo pretty regularly, I had no idea those players were using this kind of stuff, I've lost a lot of respect for those players.

I hope adderall doesn't become as large a problem in the FGC as in the esports community.

I used to play Halo and GoW at MLG events. If you weren't on some type of drug and in the top 32 range, you were the minority it felt like lol

So... that BenQ Lemstar posted about came in.

Bad
Looks a lot worse than my IPS. If my IPS were a 10, this would be a 5.

Good
Everything else -- The settings on this thing makes an ASUS' settings look like something from fisher price. No noticeable delay, no dead pixels, no marks (refurb), etc. Did I mention there were a TON of options? There were settings for Fighters (default), RST 1 and 2 (why?), Normal, etc. So basically this thing kicks the ASUS' ass in everything but picture quality. Luckily, I have both, so I get the best of both worlds <3. So I would say I'm pretty happy for blowing $150 on it. Good shit, BenQ; I had zero faith in you and am pleasantly surprised.

I remember Honzo said on his stream once that he knew one guy who used 'performance enhancers' at EVO because he had to play a top player first round.

It didn't work.

how did it shape up?

2 kusoge 4 me.

It seems like a fun game but a lot of the bullshit that ran amok in the first game wasn't sufficiently addressed. For example they took away Narukami's okizeme but now he can fucking kill you in a touch before you awaken. Aigis is still who she is and now she hurts like fuck on top of it. Characters can still steal games from you with huge momentum swings and damage. AnnelFrank had a good breakdown on the game's current issues.

Game has issues of "Holy shit why the fuck did I just die" damage and momentum swings. It's actually developed to a point where I'm liking it a lot more than disliking it, the game isn't bad. Just, if you can't handle big damage and comebacks it's not for you.

Take it from me, Aigis actually hurts a hell of a lot less on average in P4U2. She's a better character in this game cause all her other buffs.

If it comes out same day as Love Max I'm getting Love Max instead and waiting on Ultimax.

Ultra, LoveMax and +R are my fighting games of the year

60 is too much for me. I think fighting games should be worth that much, but not this one

Didn't it go through some extensive balancing or something (not sure if it's out yet or not).

Also, BlazBlue Chrono Phantasma is $50, with 2 or 3 characters as $8 DLC, which is also beyond stupid.

Continuum Shift Extend hit bomba levels pretty early on too.
I got the LE for $27, like a month after launch.

Wait, no, it was $40 as a pre-order (the MSRP for the LE was $60).
So that was probably just a promotion.

probably. Does PSN region lock digital download games? I could see this being day 1 to download on US PSN so people in Europe could go that route if they want.
P4A was region locked digitally too.

I waited for BlazBlue CP to come to Europe. The game only come in digital version ok. But a 35€ digital version. Same price as a boxed version. -_-

What is the best option to get the game without selling my organs ?
A gameshare of the US version would be the cheapest option, but I don't think there's enough interest to justify me making another group; you'd probably have to hunt a slot down yourself.

The monitor that mine replaced was both old and actually broken, so I can't complain about the image quality. It does bug me that it goes where my old second monitor used to be, though - I'm going to have to find some arrangement that puts all my IM windows and stuff on my primary monitor when I'm playing games, and the only idea that's coming to mind is splitting the video output from that port on my GPU, and plugging that into an input on each monitor.

According to their twitters, Mike Ross is apparently over at Max's house, and theyre going to be streaming some MVC2.

Greatness awaits.

Given the delay between releases (and the backlash), it should be mostly safe to assume that P4AU won't be though, right?

Given that Shin Megami Tensei IV in Europe is still not a thing, I don't think Atlus cares.

Isn't Super Smash Bros considered kusoge.
They have it in events with stuff like Aquapazza and Marvel.

I wouldn't bet anything valuable on it until closer to launch.

That's a completely separate issue. Atlus just doesn't publish games in Europe (Conception II this week is possibly indicative of something to follow, but even that's download only, and it's still Ghostlight that's talking about publishing Atlus-developed PS2 classics in Europe).

Not really joking, actually- the feedback we've been hearing has not been positive re: balance and such.

I get that but criticism =/= drive by bashing. I know I'm being sensitive but every time I come in here it's a stream of this and it honestly made me stop contributing as much.

Edit: Might as well go ahead and say I'm generalizing but it is common enough to make contributing feel not worth my time.

Wouldn't put BBCP or GG or other games in that tier, btw. (Well, not yet with Xrd, since its obvious what the problem is and they deserve a shot to fix it.)

I don't care what games you put in what tier. I just care that people are respectable when criticizing a game. I do it for games I don't like.

Mike Ross just said "holy shit" on Max stream

First time I've heard Mike swearing

Everybody says SHIT, FUCK and etc all the time, but not Mike, for some reason

How big is RG's roster now? FChamp, Flocker, Rico, Snake Eyez, Sonic Fox ...

Flocker, Rico & Snake Eyes are prime choices, whoever picked them has a good eye.

Only reason why I'm watching AE.

Daigo has been on beastmode like we know him to be since after EVO 2013 so I'll be watching him take the crown this year. Expect the rest of the gods to put on a hell of a show as always too.

Yeah Mike Ross doesn't even say "Oh my god" he says "oh my goodness" instead.

Although I am sure off stream he has a fairly foul mouth and drops the N word on the regular.
