Welcome to this week's Fighting game tournament thread! We got two premier Capcom Cup tournaments with over $15,000 up for grabs at SCR, and $0 for Brazilian Game Show because that's how Capcom rolls! Also, there is the Beast of Madden tournament that is a tournament about Madden. Yes, Madden. The Football game. The game where there's a glitch where a white guy turned into a black guy. That game. But we'll talk about that later.

First up is SoCal Regionals! One of the premier Capcom Cup tournaments happening this weekend, it is also considered to be one of the best tournaments in general in the United States. If you watched Paragon, you might be familiar with the venue, the Ontario Convention Center in Ontario, California. Alex Valle, considered to be one of the OG's of the FGC scene is the main Tournament Organizer, and promises to host a weekend full of mirth and entertainment.

Expected players for Ultra are:

Reiketsu
pH|LPN
Velociraptor

If you're a fan of fighting games, you want to check out SCR.

Next up is the Brazilian Game Show! The history of BGS this year was sordid with allegations of collusion, trying to gate out the foreign devils and trying to secure a Capcom Cup spot for the locals. The reality is that the convention organizers of BGS were incompetent and had no idea what to do, so Capcom stepped in and set up a 128 invitational tournament. Also, Laura was offically revealed here. Officially. Unofficially, she was revealed by Famitsu and made Ono-san try tears of trolls.

People in the tournament include:

SOA|BrenoF1ght3rs
Reversal|ChuChu
SOA|Ibukiman
Pepeday
Haitani
Keoma
SFT|Alexandro
SFT|DARK817
AAG|Baby Brasil
SOA|Caju

I personally only know of Pepeday, Haitani, and ChuChu. And I only know ChuChu because he was super free at Capcom Cup 2014, going 0-2.

Again, [strikethrough]no infographic up yet,[/strikethough] but Capcom has provided a schedule for us to follow.

Edit: Here is the infographic!

f6I1e54.png

It'll be on Capcom Unity BR Stream for Saturday, and Capcom Fighters on Monday.

Last up is the Beasts of Madden! I'll be honest. The only reason I'm mentioning this is because it's being streamed on Team Spooky and NYCFurby, or fellow gaffer Arturo Sanchez is streaming it. I have no idea what a Madden tournament looks like. I'm not sure that I want to find out. But it's there. You can watch it. Maybe another white player will turn black again.

The Beasts Of Madden
When
Sat, October 10, 10am – Sun, October 11, 10pm
Where
Trump Taj Mahal, 1000 Virginia Avenue, Atlantic City, NJ 08401, United States (map)
Description
Madden 16 XBox One/PS4 Tournaments

Stream: http://www.twitch.tv/teamsp00ky

Details: http://www.atlgamersociety.com/madden-tournament-atlanta

That's it! If you know of a tournament and the info isn't posted, please share it in the thread! I try to hit everything, but I'm only one person and there are always a ton of stuff out there.

Note: If you have an interest in discussing the Fighting Game Community, consider joining the Fighting Game Community thread where we try to talk about what is happening in the FGC.

As always, if you see an infographic for a FGC tournament, it was likely made by acekingoffsuit. The guy makes stream schedules for every major tournament and he does it for free. You can find his twitter account here: https://twitter.com/acekingoffsuit

Also, Malice215's FGC Calendar was used to help get more information on tournaments. Malice215 (also a gaffer) spends much of his free time maintaining the FGC Calendar

I don't think Justin is attending SCR. He's going to the Canadian event instead.
He is going to the Canadian event. I just c&p the guest list from Capcom's website. I was going to make a snarky response on how he ducking yet another tournament, but I couldn't even muster that. Justin has given up. He is done.

Isn't there supposed to be a SFV exhibition? Honestly, it would have been better to make the 3v3 SF4 teams tournament a 3v3 SFV teams tournament.

What is he doing? Big points up for grab in his region, and he is going miss the event? EG player manager pls.
Ricki is going with Justin. She's confirmed to be out of the top 32 as there is guaranteed that two people outside the top 32 get 128 points and 256 points. Pack it up. Her only hope is to pick up free points at Defend the North or Costa Rica.

Not placing and not qualifying for CapCup just isn't that great of a time and money investment for him. Marvel pots must be getting smaller.

implying top 2 placers will be players who are placed below ricki at the current cpt standings.

SCR looks pretty stacked, nice. Too bad it's a LU stream so it'll have 20 minutes of downtime for every 40 minutes of tournament action.

Updated OP with stream schedules for SCR and BGS.

The Beasts of Madden will probably not get an infographic.

So fuudo didn't skip on brazil because of his prior qualification. He skipped to go to SCR instead

Madden added to fgc tournaments now? The amount of negroes up in there will be tremendous. If 2K was in it too then shit would be like Spades at a cookout.

I'm in this for the Skullgirls.

Are the Japanese not participating in this team tourney either? I've heard no mention of them so far, any of them. I miss the days when they(the bigger names anyways) didn't come to tournaments with such a seriousness and be more willing to participate in all these side events and activities.

Strange, why do that? Wouldn't the points/money be easier in brazil?
The points would be easier, but the money sure isn't
as there isn't any up for grabs at the Brazil event because Reasons.

Yeh, thats true.
But what about the brazilian girls, thats more fun than hanging out with friends.
Don't you remember that picture of him with the Razer models from TGS a couple of years back? He looked like he would rather be playing a random game of Gunslinger Stratos or Beatmania IIDX over being with those girls.

It's actually TeamYP (which is itself sponsored by YouPorn) that sponsors Filipinoman and Valmaster. They emphasize that they are separate companies and the sponsor is listed as TeamYP and not YouPorn.

"...All of our esports endeavors will fall under the branding of Team YP and will in no way advertise or promote the YouPorn brand or adult content of any kind." -Brad Burns, VP of Marketing for YouPorn (from Reddit AMA)

Strange, why do that? Wouldn't the points/money be easier in brazil?

When Capcom Pro Tour was announced, 3 Premier Events were excluded from receiving the 15k pot bonus that every other Premier event would receive. And that was TGS, Ultra Hyakkishu Cup, and BGS. Taito put up their own money for their event like they did last year so only TGS and BGS doesn't pay out. BGS is the easier road to Capcom Cup if you're not qualified. You go to SCR if you want better comp and money though(it should be about the money though).

This situation kind of presents itself again in a couple of weeks. Defend the North and Cyber Olympicos are on the same weekend and are the final two Ranking events of the year that rewards points. This is significant because the final event that rewards points is Canada Cup. Canada Cup is a Premier event so with the extra money all the killers will be there. DTN and Cyber Olympicos are more for the guys on the outside that are looking for the easiest route. I think Ricky went to a tournament in Mexico last year in the final week to secure her spot. We may see some guys like Ricky, PR Rog, or maybe even an Asian go to Costa Rica instead of New York to avoid most of the other notable players.

What about team Japanese?
