is it a pretty standard end game? Wildly different end game? Yeah I'm just speaking about the early and now mid-game for now. But now you have me curious if it keeps its own identity at the end game or if it slinks into the modern end game standards of like every MMORPG out there.

for reference I've done a ton of raiding in WoW (Vanilla, Cata and MoP heroics) and raided hardmode launch SWTOR.

Introductory progression runs off of the Justice/Valor concept from WoW, although with the stipulation that all dungeon drops are shit and you will get things mostly through points. They even tuned the new point type this patch to the same daily-manner as WoW, one a day to cap. Still irked that you can't group queue the roulette/daily, though.

Raiding encounter design is fantastic on average but it's very sparse. Four bosses per tier, one difficulty mode, overall the challenge feels somewhere between WoW: Wrath/Cata-era normal and heroic average as of The Second Coil, the First Coil was mostly very easy except Twintania (final boss) had some great mechanics (I'd par the 2.1 version with normal mode Nefarion from BWD in WoW, I had a few people in my guild agree with that).

Loot can be a bit of a pain, as getting your loot to gear to drop sometimes requires an act of god due to the low boss count for an entire set of equipment for all classes and the fact that bosses drop two coffers with separate loot tables.

Character customization does not exist and itemization is possibly the worst in the genre, this is where it needs work, big time. It is extremely lousy in both these regards.

For side elements, there are one-off Primal fights, usually very fun, used for occasional stepladder progression leading up to raids. Only real current ones are King Mog and Leviathan, neither of which are terribly challenging but are very fun and help a smidge with gearing (weapons and necklaces)

No real side elements, game is probably too new for any meaningful fluff right now. Crafting is extremely fun and detailed... but mostly useless outside of supplying other crafters :lol Personal housing in 2.3 and hopefully Gold Saucer in 2.3 or 2.4 should be nice...

Rebel Leader

THE POWER OF BUTTERSCOTCH BOTTOMS
Fells like I wasted money but that's probably because I did a new character and in the same area i was in both betas =p

You can use your PC character on the PS4.
My excitement to start playing again just went way up.

But when I registered my PC ver. It was the standard edition. Now that I have the CE for PS4, will there be any issues to redeem my CE stuff and the free 30 days?

You will get the CE items, but I'm pretty sure you won't get the free 30 days unless you make a new service account.

I had the PC version and added the PS4 service to my account yesterday, and my paid for game time went from 9 days to 39 days.

Yes they will. If you add any new version to your account, you get an additional 30 free days. In theory if you buy all three versions (PC, PS3, and PS4) you can get up to 90 days free.

how do I change the stupid fucking place the game downloads to after I got the launcher? It keeps trying to save to my C:/ directory, but I do not have any fucking space on there. I need it to be on D:/, but cannot find any where to change it. I'm not talking about where to download the launcher to, that allowed me to select D:/. I am talking when you log in on the launcher and it starts downloading files, it wants to save to C:/. I need it to be D:/

God this is like the tenth game that makes it incomprehensible to figure out how to change the directory where you download to. This should be simple shit, but maybe there's a universal PC setting that'll allow me to change it that I am unaware of

Really starting to feel the call of Second Coil. The only Soldiery piece left for me to buy that might make some sense to buy are the Fending pants, and as nice as those are the High Allagan Fending pants are more desirable, at least until I get the Soldiery Axe.

Speaking of, by my estimate it looks like only the Fending chest, pants, ring, and arms are worth buying, and the latter only because the high Allagan is a Turn 8 drop.

Is there any Soldiery item for tanking that I'm over looking?

Earrings and wrists?

Don't you need like 515-ish acc as a tank for Coil2?

you could spend on rowena tokens of soldiery towards your weapons if you really have nothing else you want to spend soldiery on

Don't you need a turn 7 drop in addition to the tomes to get the weapon?

Because turn 8 is supposed to be an insane dps check, I expect to be on the back of the list for those drops

yes but you can buy them in increments of like 130 to avoid hitting cap, but this is only really useful if you're hitting soldiery cap and don't want to spend on any gear yet. it's just an option to keep in mind i guess.

Once you install you can just copy the folder somewhere else. That's what I did

That or set up a system link between the install folder and where you want it

I literally cannot play this game I just purchased because I cannot change the directory that this game is trying to install this update to. I keep my C:/ drive tight for a reason, SquareEnix. Developers, stop being stupid and make directory changes obvious. Goddamn, spent 50 dollars and can't even play this shit. I knew trying to play an MMORPG was bad luck these days

I don't have the required 1.4 gigs to do that though. I have exactly 400mb of space on my C:/ drive, and that's basically every essential windows related thing I have on there. I don't install anything else on there but the essential windows stuff, so I have no room to even delete anything.

Oh I'll definitely buy those tokens if I get close to the Soldiery cap. Especially if I'm running out of desirable soldiery pieces.

Why don't you move some files on your C drive to your other drive then put it back after the install?

I am actually trying right now to locate enough non-essential files to be able to even do that. The problem is I keep the drive so tight that almost every file is essential and if moved, I'm not sure windows would function properly. I have reached 600mb free right now, this is a nightmare :p

Wow. That is a unique situation you have there.

So, I just want to check something:

My main class is Gladiator.
My secondary class is Conjurer, I am leaving lower level quests for this class.

Do I also then get to pick a job like a blacksmith or goldsmith or weaver or whatever in addition or does that act as a second class?

How big is your C: drive? Windows shouldn't take up that much unless you have a super tiny hard drive. My SSD only has 120 gbs and it has no issues.

You can have as many classes as your little heart desires, no penalty.

About to hit 15 with my Gladiator and will start dungeoning soon. How do you mark on a controller?

You're going to want to hit square when having a target selected, go to mark, and move 1-3 down to your hotbar.

Yeah, I have an 80GB SSD for the C:/ drive. they were expensive back then, so I didn't go larger.

your C drive is a nightmare

No, companies that don't include the simplest of options that should have been standard back in 1992 are nightmares; I'm entitled to keep my harddrive well organized and tight so that everything is easy to find and locate and mess with when I need it :p

I keep my essentials and non-essentials tightly segregated so I do not ever risk ruining something I need; additionally, the windows drive is an C:\ is an SSD drive. The only real non-essential programs I have on C:/ are Firefox and winamp.

Anyway, I just made it up to 1100mb, I don't know what left I can delete, but I think if I delete the rest of these .tmp files I can just make it over the top *crosses fingers*

Edit: Yes, 1550mb free! Huzzah!

Heh I haven't been quite a diligent about holding onto my Tomes, especially since I'm starting to get close ish on my Animus weapon. The Bravura Animus is an excellent weapon to get me buy until I can grab the Soldiery Axe.

It just, won't be very good for Turns 8 and 9. Gonna be tough to stay firmly at the 515 accuracy cap when my weapon has no accuracy on it.

Awesome defensive stats on it though, gives me a little Leeway to sacrifice parry (Perry?) for accuracy, on one or two pieces.

Plus, that glow.

Wait, so does that mean I could switch back and forth from PC and PS4?

Yup.

Glad you got it! And yeah it's really stupid that SE won't let you change directories. Most people nowadays have separate harddrives.

I know that feeling on Bard, for sure. Would you like some Skill Speed with your Skill Speed? I have no idea what I'll get next... I guess the earrings, which are identical to the ones I have on now but a couple of points higher... hooray?!

Turn 9 music is so rad, especially love these parts (no spoilers, I think?)

If it's any consolation, some marauder (warrior) skills cross-class to gladiator, so it still helps.

In fact, you may eventually want to level marauder to 26 for Mercy Stroke on your gladiator. It's not a great skill on gladiators, but it still helps.

Alright, so now when I am done downloading this update, how can I move the update to my D:/ whilst still having the game recognize where the files are now?

Appreciation the help :)

I'd been waiting for this for a while, and apparently it happened month or so ago and I didn't notice. Guildwork released a beta of their game client, which has some cool features like push notifications for duty finder pops, remote chat (do in-game chat while you're away from your computer/the game), cross-server chat, Guildwork site messaging in-game, and some other stuff.

I've set it up so focus targeting, marks, and a few macros are brought up whenever I hold both the L and R triggers.

Cool. Will do this. I'm mainly a White Mage, but the FC I started needs a few Tanks since they're all practically Lancers (since we all started in Gridania). I'd still like to properly do my job as a tank though.

Maybe the installer is trying to save the download files in the Windows %TEMP% folder, so it can patch the game once it's downloaded. It's pretty standard when installing stuff.

Try opening the system settings (WIN key + Pause), then Advanced System Settings. Click on the Environment Variables and check where the TEMP or TMP are pointing to. You can point those variables to another drive with more space, or even try cleaning those folders and running the installer again.

Another good alternative (and safer if you're afraid to mess up) is to run CCleaner and tell it to clear all temporary folders.

What year is this?!?!

HDD space issues shouldn't be a thing with how cheap storage is.
Just get rid of the porn.

It is when you have expensive SSD type. This SSD was purchased back when SSD prices were still sky high even for an 80GB like the one I have.

Anyway, I barely resolved the enough space issue, but I just want to be able to move the update to a place where it can still recognize it but off the C. Because what happens the next time there is an update? I can't start fitting all my FFXV updates there :p

Also your joke is a sort of failure, since like I established, my C:/ is only for essential files. I have not a single porn file on there. That'd be D:\

They are less than $0.50 per GB. Just pick up a bigger one if you want SSD speeds for gaming.

You may be able to get around it by editing the registry settings to read the FFXIV MY Documents folder from the D: drive.
I won't post the directions though as they can easily mess things up.

I used the same method to get Microsoft Office onto an external SD card on my Dell Venue 8 Pro.

Pretty good stuff!

Although I don't understand:

Never miss a Duty Finder instance ever again! Guildwork will send you a push notification to your iOS or Android device the moment an instance is found.

where is the android app?
