Final Fantasy XV delayed to November 29 - Confirmed

So they are basically delaying it because they have a substantial patch and while they could release it at the former release date in its current state, they want everyone to have the patched game, even those without Internet.

Hey, can't say I'm disappointed. That's looking out for all your customers.

Though it would be a shame if the game had a bad performance even when it gets the patched version.

Yeah, I'm okay with this.

Late Nov/Early Dec is actually pretty light compare to next several months as the only games coming out are South Park, Dead Rising, and Gravity Rush 2.

Just opened GameFAQs to check out all the meltdowns.

The whole point of September was that I could play it before the expected European release of Cold Steel 2.

Hopefully Deep Silver can get release parity with SMT A in Europe, or get 7th Dragon out in September.

Hmmm... If it reviews well this will be my Christmas game this year, like XCX was last year.

Was never gonna pick it up in September, so this has worked out for me.

If it reviews poorly, Gravity Rush 2 and Pokemon Moon will pick up the slack instead.

There's really no need to show that since it's a more story focused
with the unwinnable battle against Marilith.

SE not showing much story is fine and refreshing, but you still need to show some variety in areas when you show off a game.

That's not what the rumors have been saying about Chapter 0.

Setting up a huge reveal event just to delay the game again a few weeks after. Pretty embarrassing.
I feel at this point even the most diehard fans are extremely pissed off.

Not necessarily the same people. Why I am fine with the delay, I'd prefer day 1 patch personally, even if it's huge... Fast No Bandwith Cap internet makes it a non issue, definitely not worth entire 2 months for me personally

I don't like how Tabata is playing us for fools saying the game is completed and pretending that people don't have access to the internet. I have no doubt in my mind that even with this delay there will still be a Day One patch... He even said they plan to patch it after release.

Why couldn't he just say it isn't finished?

I don't think 2 months is all that bad, but if people are pissed I'm not gonna tell them they don't have the right. If it makes for a better game at release, go for it.

I cut out time to play FFXV in October. Looks like it'll go to Fallout 4 now.

I live in a share house with 11 other people. We get 1TB of internet per month. I can't afford to download a massive game patch that would put a serious dent in our monthly internet allowance. I appreciate them putting this massive patch onto the disc.

Which is fine...but if the patch is that essential that they arent comfortable releasing the game without it - it just means the game isnt really done yet and thats the reason they are delaying it.

Def. not a big deal...but they better keep this release date now.

2 months of time is plenty to remove the holding button to attack crap, and actually makes the game good. Just saying.

Removing "hold to attack" would make game unplayable to me. Not because I can't press buttons to hit personally, I play plenty of action games. It's just the way animations work inthis game, there's no feeling of an individual hit. They just kinda flow with awkward timing, so it's never clear when one attack stopped and another started, making pressing buttons basically mashing to keep the flow of animation going. and at that point, might as well just hold it.

Now, they could redo the animations to fix the issue and make removal of "hold to attack" viable, but not in 2 months

So so disappointed. Fuck me, it is like this game will never release. We wait 10 years.... they make an official event to announce the release date and just now.... they are asking for more polish? Help them, God. The advantage of this release date is that it is close to Christmas but.... still September 30th was a Friday ;_; now a Tuesday. Pfft.

I actually like that excuse. I'm glad i won't have to download a huge patch at launch and instead have a base game complete with even more optimizations ready to go.

And i'm assuming it gives them much more time to launch a more feature rich NEO patch too.

Well this fits way better into my gaming schedule, unless Cold Steel 2 comes out around then because i'm dropping everything for it.

That being said, the only thing on my releases list for November is Pokemon Moon, followed by Kingdom Hearts II.8 HD still sometime in December (I hope). Since i'll be playing Pokemon mostly on the go (and i'll wait for the GR2 price to tank soonish after it releases (i'm so sorry)), this is a nice fit for the gap in my schedule.

Yeah, I'd have to wonder how potentially busted the master version is from a performance standpoint if people playing the game without the day 1 patch was a legitimate enough concern for the dev team.

That 30 min gameplay video will probably do all the talking there. Gonna be an interesting week for sure.

I would be fucking ecstatic if they did this. I'm dying for Gravity Rush 2.

Too bad Sony doesn't give a fuck about it and will send it out to die.

Yeah, I'm dying to play GR2.

It's probably impossible but they should push GR2 two weeks forward. Would be perfect for me

I can see myself giving priority to GR2 anyway though

The most interesting part of this whole scenario was seeing how bitter the discourse was over it. I hope everyone who took a definitive position based only on rumor from unnamed sources feel as foolish as they looked, regardless of the result.

I wouldn't be super upset if Gravity Rush 2 was delayed till January in the US.

The game seems farther along than FFXV though lol

The rumors were very credible. Not all rumors are equal, and this one was as definitive as it gets

It would be nice to have some insight into the S-Es offices now. To say the team is under crunching time would be an understatement.
