Which trailer was this from again?

So, why are we assuming this is a release date reveal? Is that confirmed?

This could be another Dragon Quest 30th Anniversary disappointment..

Surely Square would never lead us astray.

They never explicitly said 'We are announcing the release date at this event', did they? We're connecting dots. Sure, it looks really likely, but you never know.

Protect yourself

this event uncovers everything FINAL FANTASY XV, with major announcements and surprises including the official release date for the game.

From the official press release.

Woo! Wasn't in the OP, so I thought you guys were assuming/deducing/falling into Square's excitement trap.

That's great. Really curious if it'll make 2016.

The most recent trailer has 2016 at the end of it. ~50% of the game was said to be polished to completion months ago. And the march event also marks the beginning/initial steps of a big marketing push for the game. The game is going to be released this year. They wouldn't start said big marketing push if the game was still 9+ months from release, no one does marketing cycles that long.

Ugh, almost 2 months. I was hoping for the event to be held early March =(

My guess was going to be like smack dab in the middle. It sucks it's at the end but I bet they had to work around Kinda Funny's schedule since SE approached them and it gives them a little bit more time to prepare everything, it also still is March :lol

Yep. At least the can say they kept their word about the event being held in March.

On topic of the release date, Square's recently (On February 2nd) posted an ad for an Assistant Localisation Producer for FFXV (http://eu.square-enix.com/en/jobs/assistant-localisation-producer)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our Localisation Production team, primarily working on providing support on FINAL FANTASY XV, as well as support on other on-going projects, as required. Coordinates all of the work undertaken by the SEE Localisation Specialists. Works alongside Localisation Producers on submissions and printed materials. To perform any other duties as directed by the Senior Localisation Manager. This position is initially on a temporary contract until 30 September 2016.

Maybe 30 September is a hint at FFXVs release date, a release around that time certainly seems possible

Add to that final QA testing and the production process of physical copies, and you're looking at...November? Seems plausible, big Holiday blockbuster..

I'm sure it's been answered but maybe someone can spare me. Is this release date the worldwide release or Japanese release? Do we have to wait for localization?

I think most people feel November is unlikely as it is in the middle of other high profile release competitors. I actually think it is more likely it will come out before Sep 30 based on the listing, because that means any reported issues can be addressed in a patch.

Say it releases Sep 16, then they get all the reports of localization issues from launch users, the producer deals with it for a couple weeks to fold it into a patch, and the contract ends.

November seems unlikely.

At the start of the ATR, Tabata said that the Beta version of FFXV is pretty close to completion and afterwards it's just final localization, polishing and debugging work. So I'm guessing the game will be done in March, content/feature-wise.

Hmm, I live in LA, would it be worth going to this event? No idea what to expect.

Then again, I'll probably just stay within the comfort of my home and watch the livestream instead.

I hope we get an August release date. I'm cool with September as well.

Went back and decided to watch all the trailers that had been released through the years. What a roller coaster of hype and emotions. If I went back in time to 2006 and told my young self that the game wouldn't see a release until 2016 and that FF XIII for that matter, would be a huge let down, i'd probably think I was crazy.
